I do have a fix that seem to work for most (but not for all) people that have no sound. Send me a PM please.

Re: FX CAST Atari ST core

I know they would run fine. I searched for a screen copy of the effect I am looking for, could not find one. No emulator reproduces this. It's a tiny detail. Maybe only visible on a CRT where you turn the horizontal adjustment way to the left. If you are talking about the effects of stabilization, ...

Re: Save States for the cores

Saving states is extremely difficult, and as Sorgelig is saying, it is not something that you can do generically. Each core must be basically rewritten from scratch. Which in turns is a problem on itself because many cores have parts that come from different developers. Let alone that some core use ...

Re: FX CAST TOS versions

Don't MiST/Mister support mouting SD card partitions as hard disk images? MiST does, but MiSTer doesn't. The main difference comes from the fact that MiSTer runs full Linux, and it runs Linux directly from the SD card. Edit: MiSTer can use a second SD card connected at the optional I/O board, and t...

Re: FX CAST Atari ST core

Hi I notice slight sound issues, being an YM perfectionnist I notice when things are sounding off, or too perfect. Hi Gunstick. It is possible that there are some sound issues. Would need to check it. Also for the overscan stuff, I'm interested in the right border :-) Really to the limit where HBL ...

Re: FX CAST TOS versions

There are fix programs that one can use, and I guess HD driver impacts it too, but I would expect most Mister users not to install such fix programs (it's a long time ago and people don't anymore remember that such things may be needed). If you e.g. have disk that has been written on Windows and wh...

Re: FX CAST TOS versions

TOS v1.00 is quite buggy, it cannot e.g. deal reliably with hard disks / hard disk images. I think that is a bit of an overstatement. Yes, it has some bugs. But back at the day, I used TOS 1.0 wit a hard disk for several years without any problems. I had no other choice then. Granted, it was a very...

Re: FX CAST TOS versions

You believe that in the history of the Atari ST there was never a program ever written that makes calls to TOS2.06 specific routines (which obviously did not exist in TOS1.02). Please read back my post again. I didn't say exactly that, did i? I have disks that won't boot under TOS1.02, but do boot ...

Re: FX CAST Atari ST core

There's nothing in TOS 2.06 it "requires". That may be the case, however, the original program (original disk) will not work on a machine with TOS2.06. Since I only work with original disks, that is all that matters to me. You are not "listening" (well, reading) to what we are t...

Re: FX CAST Atari ST core

You do know there should be a list here in the main forums of programs that *require* TOS2.06? ... As far as I know the U.S. market only had machines with TOS1.02 and TOS2.06. I am not aware of any other version (like TOS1.6) that was actually available here. ... Some require TOS2.06, and some won'...

Re: FX CAST Atari ST core

Ok, then this makes sense why there are compatibility problems during my testing. There are a LOT of games and utilities that require TOS2.04. In fact, most games I have tested do not boot, likely because of this. Jim, please stop spreading wrong information. In first place, TOS 2.04 (AFAIK) doesn'...

Re: 520ST External Floppy only

I'm in the same boat as nico24, I bought a very old 520st with no internal floppy and the seller didn't have the external floppy for it. I was thinking of just buying a ultrasatan and living without the floppy drive, but I haven't found instructions on how to make it bootable without copying the dr...

Re: FX CAST Atari ST core

Is there an update to v1.0? I don't see any links to the core other than the original post you made about this project. I have a ton of SCP images to test. :) Not yet. But I expect a new release shortly. Does FX CAST have some ROM builtin? Latest EmuTOS should boot clearly faster than normal TOS wi...

Re: DE-10 Super Expansion board

Technically, I could use 64MB RAM chips with this board, but the problem (according to Sorgelig) is the speed drops dramatically because you have refresh another 32MB of memory. I don't understand why it would be slower to refresh. Both 32MB and 64MB chips require 8K refresh cycles per 64ms. Refres...

Re: FX CAST Atari ST core

- is the Bios file needed to boot on the normal green screen of the atari ST ? What kind, name and where to put it if necessary ? when i start the core actually i just get a white screen instead. No boot rom is needed. You probably didn't load any disk image. That is the normal behavior with no dis...

Re: controller ports: minimizing input lag

So if the USB input has an 8ms lag, then the net effect at 60Hz would be exactly as I said: 50% no extra latency, 50% one full frame extra latency (this doesn't contradict a max latency of one frame+8ms). Sorry for bragging about this, I just find the subject of input lag so interesting. The net ef...

Re: controller ports: minimizing input lag

Less input lag is of course a good thing but a low latency HDMI scaler (in the works as I understand) will affect the perceived input lag much more than faster USB polling (or direct DB9 input). At the moment if using HDMI, the total lag is 0-8ms for the USB controls, 33.4ms (two frames) for HDMI s...

Re: Hybrid MIDI Sound Emulation MUNT/FluidSynth

It might also be possible to have the whole thing on the FPGA side. No open source MIDI synthesizer core? Perhaps won't fit on the PC/486 core that hasn't much left space. But on others it might.

Re: controller ports: minimizing input lag

As it's already told above and it's very well known fact, consoles poll the joysticks ONCE per frame. So, once per 16 or 20 milliseconds. If current lag provided by input system is less than 16ms, then tweaking USB for higher polling speed won't bring any improvements. It will. As I said in my prev...

Re: FX CAST Atari ST core

Hatari examples aren't forwarding serial output, but raw MIDI output from one (emulated) machine to another similar one, over network. So there's no serial protocol or "port speed" for such a thing, (emulated) Atari MIDI interrupts and the (emulated) Atari application doing MIDI IO regist...

Re: controller ports: minimizing input lag

I hope we are not reopening a can of worms :) The USB input is pretty fast. Considering serial I/O input has to be added on a per-core basis and would likely be a hassle to keep coordinated, until someone can prove to me that there's an practical and appreciable (note: appreciable. A few ms is not a...
