Re: Drone by Dead Hackers Society demo glitches

On real hardware this demo can have problems. For example, on my STe (4mb 4160STe, TOS 1.62) the demo crashes when run from the internal SD card on my UltraSatan, but runs very happily from my transfer card only. I remember CiH puzzling over this for a few hours at a past Outline party to try and fi...

Re: Advertising Atari with sexy girls.

Am wanting to respond to this thread; on the other hand I hope I haven't got the wrong end of the stick here, which usually happens :) But seriously though, while I am certainly in agreement with the #MeToo movement and support it despite the fact that I am a guy, there are some areas where things c...

Re: How to get Hatari working on High Sierra ? (OSX)

I can confirm that the link in my comment above * does * fix this problem, so now it is possible to use a PS3 pad for playing joystick games on Hatari. Just follow the petrockblock link, make the alterations in joy.c, recompile Hatari again and it'll be fine :) Think my Mac was having some problems ...

Re: How to get Hatari working on High Sierra ? (OSX)

I found something interesting on this link here:- https://blog.petrockblock.com/forums/topic/hatari-ps3-controller-fire-button/ The link largely is related to the RetroPi MAME/MESS setup, but Hatari appears to be included with it. Also, once compiled, I managed to get Hatari running from Terminal, b...

How to get Hatari working on High Sierra ? (OSX)

Hey everyone, I'm having some difficulties in running Hatari once it is compiled from the tar.gz archive. I'm needing to recompile it after altering the joy.c file to recognize the correct buttons for using a PS3 joypad with Hatari, for game playing, as the standard compiled DMG version doesn't work...

Re: Very first computer

The first computer I ever personally owned was a 16K ZX Spectrum. This was upgraded to 48K a couple of years or so later, also with the Spectrum+ keyboard (as the machine was originally a rubber-key Spectrum and the membrane died on it. Also had an Amstrad CPC 6128, but sold that shortly afterwards....

Re: Modern OS-es, pros and contras, experiences with ..

I was a longtime Windows user for many years between 1995 and 2009 - going through various iterations from XP to Windows 7 during that time. But since 2010 I have been using Mac OSX as my main computer. The first Mac Mini I bought was an early 2009 model; this has worked well over the years in gener...

Usually, as long as your 'net connection (from either Mac or PC) is shared, then this should give an IP address to the Atari system, for easy transferring of files :)

Cheers.

Re: Common mistakes in Atari ST SW, bad practices

You've made some interesting points here. Although regarding not testing in machines that have more than 512K or 1 meg of RAM, I wanted to make a couple of points. Back in the day (and this may not have been specific to just the UK market) when stores were selling Atari and Amiga systems. 512K and s...

Re: When did you have your first 16bit Atari?

I bought my Atari 520 STFM back in early 1988. Single sided drive originally, though that was upgraded a bit later on personally with a double-sided drive. I also remember a short while later buying the Xtra-RAM memory upgrade, which took the machine up to 1MB of RAM, then a total of 2.5MB of RAM wh...

Xbox 360 controllers and Hatari on OSX (Yosemite)

Has anyone managed to properly configure an Xbox 360 controller to work with Hatari, running on OSX Yosemite ? I have been trying some of Ppera's game compilations that were released a while ago, quite a lot of these are unplayable via any kind of USB-based joystick or gamepad system. Would be inter...

Re: exxos's webshop forcefully shutdown :(

I'd like to make a suggestion (assuming your shop gets back on track again with an alternative payment system) that I'd like you to hear, Exxos. You're probably well aware of Lotharek (based in Poland) who also produces decent items for Atari systems within his online shop and also on Ebay. Might th...

That's almost the new price for a standard 4mb Falcon, 20+ years ago !

Had placed a bid, but didn't win - probably a good thing :)

Not mine, but I could be interested if the price stays at what it is now (£500). I doubt it will stay at that price though, but it looks to be a great machine :)

Re: Internet troubles caused by recent terrorist attacks

The main reason why Iraq was invaded was largely on a thought which George W Bush at the time had; convincing himself that Saddam had been involved with personally funding (or funding via his government) the events of 9/11. History has proven that Saddam played no part whatsoever to do with the even...

Re: Xenon 2 Megablast with Mega Music :-)

emcclariion, If you can load up TOS 1.06 in RAM into your STe, that should make the game work without problems, whilst AtariZoll gets to the bottom of the problems you reported. I've had similar issues with my setup as well, on running the game, but was able to go back into TOS 1.62 (on my 4160STe) ...

I'm in Cambridge and would be interested in maybe meeting up half-way between here and Ipswich to collect the disks, if that's of any help. I'm wondering if anyone has got in touch with Jack Tramiel's family about this - just to get their support if nothing else - and possibly also Nolan Bushnell as well, as the Atari name was originally his. Re: Atari 7800 no sound problem

I'll try to explain it a bit easier, though you may want to refer to this article on Wikipedia for the differences between the PAL regions. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PAL To put it into context with your 7800, most new-ish plasma televisions don't handle the older signals too well, as you have dis...
