Re: Disk Repair Tools ST

Sorry Cogweasel, but I never used KnifeST much than the few times previously mentioned to attempt to recover a disk. No idea if it uses the HD for any of the functions.

Re: Atari's Greatest Hits App Not Working on Android Oreo!

Welcome Garry, but this is a forum for the Atari machines from 30 years ago etc. It's not a support site for any Android/IOS apps released under the Atari branding. From memory, Infogrames are the current owners of the Atari brand name, so I would look on their website for any app support forum/help...

Re: Disk Repair Tools ST

Or, if you have twin floppy drives, you could try using Knife ST's FAT repair option which will make a copy of the disk in A:, whilst attempting to fix any FAT table errors and a copy of the disk will appear in B: (Caveat: I have never tried it with a single floppy drive and it's only worked on two ...

Re: Amstrad CPC Advocacy (was: Graphics in Locomotive basic)

It's nowhere near as bad as the cobbled together BASIC editor that Amstrad dumped into the +2a/+2b/+3 machines. That 'EDIT' button just gets in the way of anyone who's ever used a proper keyboard beforehand.

Steven Seagal has moved away from the forum and is "living" on SourceForge now: https://sourceforge.net/p/steemsse/blog/ Whether or not he returns to AF to answer support queries is another thing. I'd post your queries over on the SourceForge page and see if that generates a reply.

Try Beepola as it has many drivers for various Speccy music routines from yesteryear built-in - including Ping Pong/Cobra drivers.

There's also a link at the bottom of the above page that points to the 1-bit Music Forum too.

I would assume so (I don't own a MiST) as most standard ST disk images will feature 80 tracks / 10 sectors = 800K .ST file.

.ST files are copies of the whole disk, whereas you need to access the files within it.

It's all part of the learning curve :)

Re: Atari ST (mist)core, STOS BASIC Game and joystick

Here's a selection of depack tools, including the Unpack one I used as well as Naughty Depacker. There are also the New Depack tool which handles multiple packers but only use it for unpacking the .PRG file as the game might have intentionally packed the data files and if you unpack them, there's no...

Re: Atari ST (mist)core, STOS BASIC Game and joystick

Here's the fixed version of the disk, with the patched .PRG file on it. I did the following under STEEM: a) Mounted the disk image in Drive B: b) Copied the F1GPC.PRG from the AUTO folder across to my desktop under STEEM. c) Unpacked the file using the Unpack.app tool by STS as, for a change, the Na...

Re: Some TOS 2.06 Patched STOS Games and... Robotz!

That's because it's a disk image that you're trying to patch and not the actual STOS compiled program? You need to copy off the .PRG file from inside the AUTO folder on that disk image. Unpack that file and then patch it. Copy the patched file back onto the disk in the same AUTO folder and try it ag...

Re: Atari ST (mist)core, STOS BASIC Game and joystick

As it suggests, you will have to use a depack tool to unpack the .PRG back to it's full and original size. Then patch it and then repack it if you want to keep it a smaller size.

Re: Atari ST (mist)core, STOS BASIC Game and joystick

Here's a few STOS fixer tools I had on my PC hard-drive. Might not be the latest versions of the programs, but the v3.0 should work for you on the compiled .PRG file.

Re: STX image

Mount it as a disk image under the PASTI options under STEEM's Disk Manager.

You can then, if there are files within the STX image, you can copy them onto a blank disk image in the other drive and/or onto an emulated hard-drive image/path.
