Civilization and other turnbased games should benefit.

Re: CosmosEX 3.0

Anyone tried this thing then? https://www.arananet.net/pedidos/product/internal-scsi-atari-falcon-adapter-compatible-with-cosmos-ex/ It seems like a good solution to fit a cosmosex internally (if it works!) and solves the cabling problem. While it does work, it is used in some C-Lab falcons to prov...

Re: Attic find STFM FDD boot problems

Generally, with an Atari that's been sitting around for a while, reseating all chips/cable connections usually fix a lot of problems.

The 2" drop is the lazy mans approch to this. (Lift your atari a few inches above the table and let it drop)

The original domain seems it has expired and hijacked by some extortionist.

However, I've found that you can sometimes get the old sites, and download the contents using the wayback archive.

Try this: https://web.archive.org/web/20170121173 ... /index.htm

You also got Rys MKII USB adapter. https://retro.7-bit.pl/?lang=en&go=projekty&name=rys_mkii CosmosEX is another route to go, a lot more expensive, but also provides a harddrive and other nifty features. http://atari.sk/cosmosex-3-0/ All amiga mouse works aswell, but you have to shift 2 pins...

This is Amiga related: 50MHz 68000 booster developed by friend of mine, running Elite Frontier: Homepage: http://amigaprj.blogspot.com/2015/09/hc508-amiga-500-68000-50-mhz.html btw it has fastram , fastrom, IDE, CF... Re: Frontier Elite poor frame rate - booster required!

Hmm, am I wrong in thinking the cache is actually part of the CPU? But then maybe not, since it's still a 68000 in that case, I'm not sure where the cache is on the Mega STe, I always thought it was just CPU cache. I do know there were always random things I had to disable cache on, or clock down t...

AIf I remember correctly, Frontier also benefits from a math copro.

I doubt fast rom and a simple booster will do much to improve the framerate, you need an accelerator with cache.

Re: New TT + FALCON/ST PC-like case.

Not wanting to be the one to throw a wrench into a project... The TT/MSTE got similar dimensions and could probably share a case. But the ST/STE/F030 have different dimensions and should probably be considered a project of it's own. Ofcourse, for any case to be really interesting, a well thought out...

Re: MegaSTE: Details of implementation of clock switching and cache?

Afaik there is no such documentation. However, every build I have seen of these maintain two state machines in logic, one simulating a 8MHz CPU towards the bus, and one simulating a xxMHz bus towards the CPU. So yes, waitstates are inserted as needed. (at 16MHz it's pretty easy to do, it get's more ...

double and triplecheck the cable connections. In my experience it's easy to not quite get it plugged in, and then it won't work.

OK, so, I made some progress in the understanding. I tried the "hdd version" on a 1.4Meg HD floppy, on the Mega STe, and booting with the Alternate key so it won't load the HDD driver. And it's working ! So, HDDriver is messing up my game somehow ? Now, the "floppy version" is w...

Re: Mega STe differences ?

In short, no, the incompatibilities that exist are much smaller (setup time for blitter, autovector interrupt cycles etc). However, machines age ... and my MegaSTE indeed seems to have grown an issue that causes it to suddenly read corrupted data from both floppy and hard disk. I'm suspecting somet...

Re: Mega STe differences ?

But I was wondering how you can turn On the Blitter ? (as it seems you can turn it off in the General CPX ?!) Technically you can't really turn the blitter off, just tell TOS (or whatever program that respects the setting) to not use it. Is your Mega STE by any chance equipped with a HD floppy? Are...

Re: Recommended accelerator options for ST

While the FPGA clones certainly got the potential to have the ST/STE replicated 100% hardwarewise, they are not there yet. There is still work to be done on the custom IC's. A while back someone discovered old schematics of some of the IC's, and I'm sure these findings eventually will find it's way ...
