Re: Big issue with atari-forum.com

This is fantastic news, and most importantly shows that the current Atari administration has some kind of human face with which one can communicate in a reasonable manner. This whole business was hanging like a dark cloud these past few days, and I'm sure I'm not alone in feeling quite elated about ...

Re: horizontal scrolling on ST

simonsunnyboy wrote:*EDIT* And yes, the C64 and Atari 8Bits have a similar hardware support too, main difference is they smoothscroll a character based screen map, not a pixel addressable.

Ahem... not sure about the C64, but the A8 will hardware smooth-scroll bitmapped and character graphics. :)

QWERTZ Keyboard Correction?

I'm trying to get my 4160ST up and running again (I've replaced the PSU and got UltraSatan working nicely with Jinnee and MagiC), but I notice the Y and Z keys are swapped (i.e. Y in the normal keyboard position produces Z and vice versa). I tried swapping the keyboard out, but no difference. I sinc...

Re: Preparing your SD card to work with the ST & PC

Just getting back into tinkering with the UltraSatan after a LONG absence, and it seems the landscape has changed somewhat. Back when I first received the device, I set things up as per this description: http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/151497-ultrasatan-arrived/page__st__25#entry1854895 Now, at...

This is just awful news. Alison seemed a kind person as well as a knowledgable and helpful member of the Atari community. I'm absolutely shocked.

My sincere condolences to her family, friends and loved ones. A very sad loss indeed.

Re: Ultrasatan - SD cards format-partitions

Humm now I am confuse are you talking about IDEDPB (used for ST with integrated IDE interface) or ACID07 (for ASCI Interface) ??? You mention the first one but you describe the second one ?! My remarks are for the second one I'm talking about ACSID_6. I just used what a found in the archive from th...

Re: Ultrasatan - SD cards format-partitions

Nice one FlashJazzCat - jookie's going to be busy putting all these different work-arounds on his website :) I'm preparing the 128Mb, 256MB & 512MB 'blank' TOS/DOS SD card images in a moment. That's good news. :) I just copied 26MB of apps from my Steem folder on the PC to the SD card and the S...

Re: Ultrasatan - SD cards format-partitions

Well, here's a solution which seems like it's going to work for me (using TOS 2.06): 1. I used Paragon Partition Manager to wipe and then set up a 500MB FAT16 partition on a 1GB SD card. No further options were available: I just let it do its stuff. 2. I download the IDE driver and BIGDOS from ppera...

Re: Help With Best Atari STe Setup

I installed TOS 2.06 from an Ebay purchase as well and am using TERADESK 4.01 with a SatanDisk and am lovin' it. I cannot run Notator from an icon though. :( But generally everything is pretty good. Just tried TERADESK in Hatari under Mac OS X and it's great. I'll be installing that when my Satandi...

Dead STE

My STE project has nearly come to an end, although not in the way I'd hoped. TOS 2.06 arrived in the post today, and I eagerly fitted it this evening only to find the ST won't boot. There was an electrical storm this afternoon when I was at work; the ST was connected to the mains but NOT switched on...

Re: LCD TV/Monitor Choice

Thanks for that! Yes s-video is on the way out. One of Samsung's new TVs is shipping without a SCART plug, because the TV is too thin !!!!!! It's a real shame so many TVs lack s-video now. ASDA (Walmart) are selling a beautiful 24" Samsung at a good price, but it was no good to me because it l...

Re: LCD TV/Monitor Choice

Which output of your 8-bit box are you using for the component (yellow plug I assume)? The RF? I assume your 8-Bit is another Atari? Is it one of those 8-bit micros that had external modulator so the the model could be sold in different markets without much trouble? Back in the day I am sure my fri...

Re: The TFT LCD Buying Advice Thread

I've just bought a Samsung SM2032MW from Richer Sounds to replace my SM2032BW. It's basically the same monitor but with a stack of inputs. It has s-video and composite for the 8-bit Atari (which works well), Scart and composite for the ST (the former I haven't tried because I don't have a scart cabl...

Thanks - I was aware of the other topic but since this one had to work with the 8-bit too, it was clearly going to be even more of a challenge. As it happens, I tested the 8-bit with my 32" Samsung this morning and it worked well, so I decided to take a chance on the Samsung SM2032MW. It works ...

LCD TV/Monitor Choice

Rather than go down the VGA scan converter route, I've decided it would be more flexible to replace my Samsung Syncmaster 2032BW TFT monitor with a hybrid LCD TV/Monitor with S-Video and composite inputs for the 8-Bit and the ST. The 8-Bit will go in via S-video, and the ST via VGA/Composite (high a...

STE: What are these jumpers?

I just got hold of a very nice 520STE for £6.49 which has cleaned up up like new:

However, I'm wondering what these jumpers and the piggy-backed IC are for?

The only fly in the ointment is the buggy DMA chip, so I'll need a revised one otherwise Ultra Satan is a no go...
