Re: .App extension < How to use?

there is no way this screenshot is real, how can GEM desktop allow more than 8 characters folder ?? In Steem, click on the Disk Manager Icon, then click on "GEMDOS hard drive", and for the C drive, select the folder where your APP file is. Now reboot Steem and you should see your APP file ...

Re: 68080 Apollo Core

the problem is that very little people can code fpga to make a falcon close from the firebee. also the firebee is very expensive (almost twice more than the vampire) and I guess, the 68080 is more 68k compatible than the coldfire if the firebee had almost no significant improvement since 10 years, I...

Re: 68080 Apollo Core

the Vampire V4 stand alone card is basically aimed to replace Falcon + CT60, and be faster.
it's even faster than a firebee http://kronos.lutece.net/V4/V4_comparison.pdf

Re: Atari Jaguar Review - Another World - The Jag's Holy Grail?!

he had access to the original atari/amiga source code, but decided to re-do a JIT compiler for the script engine the entire game is programmed in.
JIT compiler on a 12mhz 68k, not an easy task. but was it necessary ? I don't think so. I think he just wanted to have some coding fun :)

Re: Turbochip - 7-channel YM+DMA replay

Another relevant fact about ST & PCE crossover is that HUDSON looked into using the M68000 for the PCE, going so far as to make some hardware and games, but eventually went with their own custom 8-bit CPU. Do you have source of that ? If it's true, it was a huge mistake imo, because the 6502 on...

Re: GCC 7.3.0 for m68k / m68020-60 / m5475 (ColdFire)

You could try local register variables, instead of the "move.w" in the "asm" block: https://gcc.gnu.org/onlinedocs/gcc/Local-Register-Variables.html#Local-Register-Variables static inline void SpriteDraw_II(s16 x, s16 y, u16 tile, u16 size) { register s16 rx asm("d0") ...

It should work (I hope) when you change to another binary format: --oformat binary It's working !! :D  Damn, I gain 12 HBL just by switching from VBCC to GCC 8, and not counting that the binding to my asm functions are not optimized to the fullest (due to that fact I didn't find a way to di...

Re: GCC 7.3.0 for m68k / m68020-60 / m5475 (ColdFire)

I think I found a workaround with GCC 8 not the best solution, but still better than using the stack. on a small loop I gain 5 HBL between VBCC and GCC 8 :D static inline void SpriteDraw(s16 x, s16 y, u16 tile, u16 size) { asm volatile ( "move.w %0,%%d0\n\t" "move.w %1,%%d1\n\t" ...

Re: GCC 7.3.0 for m68k / m68020-60 / m5475 (ColdFire)

You should better use it as a compile switch (-mfastcall). m68k-atari-mint-gcc-4.6.4.exe -mcpu=68000 -mfastcall -fomit-frame-pointer -S -O2 -c main.c cc1.exe: error: unrecognized command line option '-mfastcall' In most cases, yes. Re: GCC 7.3.0 for m68k / m68020-60 / m5475 (ColdFire)

It's also available in the gcc-4.6.4 version on my site. But only for this compiler, not for 7.3 or 8.2. And as already mentioned, you will need libraries that are also compiled with --fastcall. mintlib does not work, but libcmini should support it. Seems like it's not working with 4.6.4: m68k-atar...
