Re: using external floppy disc drive to tranfer

Some information on the wiki is old and goes to missing external pages... but at least it docuemnted there. The mirror read only version is here: https://temlib.org/AtariForumWiki/index.php/Transferring_Files#Physical_media_transfers_.28aka_SneakerNet.29 Needs updating once the original is up & ...

If you use Mint, just use FAT32. I think that's better.

Re: Atari Falcon IDE to CF

Are you using the HDDriver TOS/DOS compatible format on your CF ?
I used that without any issues.

Re: Falcon sD|SPi interface idea

This is a nice idea.
The DSP port has nothing connected to my Falcon since day 1.
So it be good to be able to do something with it.

Additional storage and another way xfer files is always good.

Re: USB printer driver project

On colour, I tested on a home multi function 4185 deskjet and an commercial multi function Ricoh MPC4004. For NVDI, I must have but I can't remember the results. Nowadays, most new printers understand PDF and can print them out correctly. But mainly still depends on the printer capability. PHPDF doe...

Re: USB printer driver project

Yes, for colour printing most printers have moved to PCL5 but NVDI is still stuck at PCL3 ( or thereabouts). While the black & white PCL stuff have remained pretty much constant, colour PCL commands have advanced in leaps and bounds and are so missing from NVDI drivers. That's why the low colour...

Re: NVDI adding printer

The other problem is that that my NVDI installer disc is corrupt, I am sure I have back-ups somewhere but can't find them. That's probably the real cause of all your problems. Also, on the Milan I don't want NDVI to mess-up the video drivers since it doesn't use the NDVI ones so using the instprn a...

Re: USB printer driver project

The Xerox 6022 will print 600dpi in black and white using the NVDI HP 6L driver. ImageCopy will print true color images (16M colors) at 300 dpi using its Deskjet driver. It's not photo quality however. Yes, Philippe (Faucon2001 here on AF) had done a lot of testing on various NVDI drivers on printe...

Re: NVDI adding printer

BTW, did you manually change the assisgn.sys because 23 is canon driver on mine ? LOL... quoting myself. I did asked if you edited that assign.sys file because the canon.sys was on 23 in my assign.sys file but 21 on yours. May be NVDI setup did that for you... IDK... so I did not tell you that 21 i...

Re: Falcon NVRAM / Dallas chip - where to find replacement?

Simply because you have no idea what you'll get. A lot of ICs from China (ebay) are counterfeit, malfunctioning or used. Buy one from Mouser and save yourself a lot of potential hassle. I got a couple from China, and used them in my Falcon since 2 years ago. Not sure if they are counterfeit or malf...

Re: CTPCI and Demos

Oh yes.... if there are applications that will use the 2nd screen, sure it would be fantastic.
Having output from Mint console going to the Videl will be great.
Not to mention the Debugger... any debugger utilizing the 2nd screen will be great.

What broke vcons ? Sounds like a great tool !!

wow... you got a 3-in-1 ST, Falcon & CT60.

I have no idea why it is behaving like that but remove the CT60 and see if it still thinks it is a ST.

Re: CTPCI and Demos

Actually, on most modern monitors you can enable/disable this auto option - but it does more harm than good if you have a stable (albeit blank) picture on one input and resolution switching (which causes a short "break") on the other input - in that case it would switch inputs even if you...

Re: NVDI adding printer

Oh I don't use Probe House pdf driver with NVDI 5, it does not work.
NVDI 3 & above does not conform to gdos rendering internally.
Only useful for SpeedoGDOS.

Some info on modecode hex and how to find them on your falcon can be found from my Mint write-up/How-to https://sites.google.com/site/probehouse/mint-os-for-atari/installing-mint Look at Step #5, sub-item 2 "configure graphic mode for Mint/XAAES". It's pretty dated (LOL... like 6 years old...

Re: NVDI adding printer

Seems like printers are less used devices on the Atari so not alot of information online but at least the nvdi doc is available . I did use Instprn to install the printer and select the new printer as default on the printer.cpx On papyrus, the new printer is only one selectable even as there are oth...

It's a Unix-like environment.... no one knows what they are doing.

Re: NVDI 5.03 installation.

IIRC, the gdos driver cannot query the page size of the paper on the printer ( parallel ports are not bidirectional without some hacks).
So you need to specify the paper size, IIRC, Atari Works allows input of paper size.

From what I read (researched during my pre-PDF driver days), EasyDraw will print via calling an external program ( should be Outprint as noted by you) as this is how printing is done very early on in the infant years of GEM. The "data" file passed to the printing program is just the GEM me...
