Re: Monopol - Swedish modified version of the PD game

That document is here: http://disketten.se/assets/monopol/monopol_readme.txt http://disketten.se/assets/monopol Apologies if this is your site. Maybe it was packed on a menu by a Swedish Group or distributed by PD Libraries in Sweden? I don't remember seeing a review of it in magazines at the time, ...

Re: Argos book of (Atari) dreams

Ah, Argos. In the 80s there were hardly any Argos Stores in Scotland so we didn't use them much until the 90s. Some examples: http://www.argosbookofdreams.co.uk/1981-82.html#page=236 http://www.argosbookofdreams.co.uk/1982-83.html#page=240 http://www.argosbookofdreams.co.uk/1982-83.html#page=241 htt...

Mega ST reproduction cases

When I was at school I really thought the Mega ST was the best looking ST. I personally didn't think the Mega STE looked as good. I was wondering if anyone has been able to make a reproduction Mega ST cases or 3d-printed case? Preferably the small button top part due to availability of small button ...

Re: hisoft basic- arithmetic overflow

256*175=44800. This is well within the bounds of representing it as a floating point number. Sinclair BASIC for example uses 1 exponent byte and 4 mantissa bytes. I would think that as an inline function it expects a floating point number. It should work and not cause an overflow. As a function it i...

Re: Ataribox

I think that Atari Interactive, or whoever approved the use of the Atari name in this product, should have a hard think about what products they license, how they want Atari to be remembered and even how to make marketable products that will appeal to the new generation today. Nostalgic people will ...

Re: looking for Bangkok Knights sndh-file

I didn't know this but Bangkok Knights is a C64 martial arts game - a Rob Hubbard conversion. The version in the SNDH archive sounds more grungy. The nice version is featured in the 3D Doc demo from the Carebears Cuddly Demos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aERwdxbHlAU I think that the version used...

#160 - Jess - The Legacy Nightmare It's in sndh46lf.zip First featured in The Cube by Legacy (1991): https://demozoo.org/productions/123967/ This tune was also in the intro to The Misty Demos in late 1992\1993 before The Brace Demo was released (1993). Re: What Happened To the Atari Hardware

Good question. There is a topic on the number of Ataris sold over the years: http://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.php?t=27819 In 1993 I think retailers were selling the remaining STEs. Sometimes Comet would sell them as clearance items. High street retailers in the UK (Dixons) and mail order (Silica...

Re: Silica shop story

That's quite a strange web site! Arthur Pewty was a character in Monty Python who went to see the marriage guidance councillor with his wife Dierdre for those that don't know. It looks like a mix of one person's memories and recycled local news! The article could do with some proper paragraphing. Go...

Re: STe - Bad DMA Chip

I would say that the problem seen with this demo are unlikely to be caused by problems with the STe DMA Chip. It should perhaps be mentioned in a separate thread. There are other factors at play which the programmers didn't know about at that time: 1. It is now known that there are 4 wakeup modes. 2...

Re: Good bye

I don't know how relevant this is but under GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation), which we should all be aware of, there is the right to be forgotten. World Of Spectrum (WOS) has a nice way to deal with this: it lists the details of the game or demo or whatever and then in red it says in a rath...

Re: [ATARI 1040Stf] Not working

It might be worth checking this: http://atari-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=31985 You should download Atari ST Internals if you don't have a copy already. In that case it turned out to be a bad RAM chip. Are all the RAM chips the same brand? If the 68k is good on your machine best to check the ...

Re: [ATARI 1040Stf] Not working

Hi, I don't know if you know but on the ST without a floppy in the drive it will take about 20 seconds to display the desktop. There might be other reasons why the floppy LED would stay on, but if the 68k has no activity on the address bus then it hasn't been able to run any code in ROM so it should...

Re: Need help to test on a Real Atari

I don't have an ST with TOS 2.06 but I have looked at it with Hatari.
Are you using the blitter to clear the screen? It looks as if the blitter is used asynchronously before drawing the sprites and the 2 are overwriting each other. Just a thought.

Atari 2600 JR not working

Hi, I have recently purchased an Atari 2600JR with 2 games from a games shop (G-Force) which was closing in Glasgow after being in business for 20+ years. It came with a joystick, 8V/2A PSU ugly multi-tip thing (9V on my multi-meter), Centipede and the 32-in-1 Games cartridge. I am having difficulty...

Re: Atari haul from university

It also looks as if there's a SUN Sparc Classic in there too. When I was at University a maths lecturer used an early 520ST to print documents on an Atari laser printer. I think it might have even been a printer server for his office. Probably they had a budget and a ST would have been much cheaper ...

Re: idea. measure speed

I haven't been able to get the profiler in Hatari to produce any meaningful results. I think the problem using the blitter is the STs interleaved bitplanes making it difficult to leave certain bitplanes untouched whereas the Amiga's non-interleaved bitplanes make it much easier to clear one bp at a ...

Re: Outrun with frame counter

Yes Peter is right, they had a license to convert the game so no copyright issues. It was standard practice to use VHS tapes to see the arcade game. Ocean used this method in articles I have read. The strange thing about Outrun is that the shape of the car was better on the Spectrum version. It even...

Re: Outrun with frame counter

Bug:
00km/h is sometimes displayed by the speed print routine. Strangely the C64 version also does this under certain cicumstances.
The original arcade version never displayed 00km/h it was always 0km/h when the car was not moving.
