Re: ATARI STacy PSU

Great! Thanks again, Gaiyan, much appreciated! Curious how difficult disassembling a STacy is to work on it. Are they are nicely laid out as my STE? Honestly, it's incredible how well designed STEs are to work with! The Stacy is a right pain to take apart! some pics of when I added a Satandisk to m...

Re: Floppy drive replacement (expanding the theme).

I just grabbed the first three PC drives from the pile nearest me and they are all shorter than the Atari original. Not sure what you're comparing here, but it has nothing to do with the problem Atarieterno describes. Flip your drives over and align the mounting holes, *then* take a look at the bez...

Re: Floppy drive replacement (expanding the theme).

I just grabbed the first three PC drives from the pile nearest me and they are all shorter than the Atari original. I'll get the rest out of storage and compare them hopefully over the weekend, I have a bunch of (broken) original drives too, so should be able to compare them as well If all the peop...

Re: Floppy drive replacement (expanding the theme).

The metal body of PC floppy drive is longer than Atari's, if they were the same I would not need to cut the plastic front to attach it. I do not know if you have found a PC model that is shorter, but I have adapted 5 floppy drives and all have needed modification, one of them even I cut 3 mm of the...

looks like you edited your post while you were still in the 'new user' group, so it popped it back into the mod queue. should be fine now as you are now a 'normal' user.

Re: Atrai 520 ste memory problem

Now it loads games and running them. But i tried cosmosex and despite the fact that is booting (ppera driver) every time I am trying to load something it says there is not enough memory. By the way the atari ls upgraded to 4 MB memory. It looks like a software issue, sysinfo finds 4MB memory but PHY...

I'll also revive this thread by asking if anyone knows how many editions of volume 2 "Atari ST Internals" there were. I have the third edition, dated 1988, which has details of the blitter chip. I also have the machine language book, but as a hardback published in 1986 by First Publishing...

I know some of the origin story of that motherboard...... Well, a group of 100 or so Mega STe motherboards. They came from Toad Computers in the USA. Before they were at Toad, Atari Corp had shipped the full systems from a warehouse in California to a company to destroy them. This company crushed t...

[pics] Homebrew Mega STe case

Hi All, I aquired a Mega Ste recently, but it was missing several components, incluing the case itself. I've got it working OK now, so it needs a box to put it in. These pics show the progress so far, it's not finished and its not neat or tidy, but it will hopefully protect the board from me droppin...
