Re: PSU for TT? Mean Well RT-65A

Good you asked. How do you plan to create -12V? I just had a short check of the schematics but -12V is at least used for the level shifters of all RS232 ports. And you need to fake the PSU's power-good signal. It might work to short it with +5V. I'd say: ⋅ check the schematics where -12V a...

Re: Installing the PAK68/3

F-Types seem to be fine, too. On the first two tries I had a freezing system prior to loading GEMBench. Second try gave me garbled desktop background.

Re: Installing the PAK68/3

I just checked my board and saw that I used 74LS373 and 74F244 :? Swapped them for 74ABT373 and 74ABT244: no FDD probs and freezing desktop anymore with L2 enabled :D Can have a look if I have some 74F373 anywhere here and try these. My board (1040STFM) still has the original address/data-line pull-...

Re: Installing the PAK68/3

I just checked my PAK68/3s: - PAK68/3-020 (no TOS onboard) KAOS 1.4.2 on mainboard, L2 enabled: no problems - PAK68/3-030 (3.06 patched onboard) KAOS 1.4.2 on mainboard, L2 enabled: Desktop freezes when mouse is moved - PAK68/3-030 (3.06 patched onboard but disabled) KAOS 1.4.2 on mainboard, L2 enab...

Re: STFM doesn't boot, CPU halted. How to find what's going wrong?

/CAS1L and /CAS1H are not - is that normal, given that there's only one bank of RAM populated? There should be some activity when TOS boots (RAM detection phase). But without a scope with storage function you won't recognise that. As soon as TOS detects just one bank /CAS1x are constantly high IIRC...

Re: Panther/2 Adapter

As I have some of these PCB kits, too: I see that you did not populate C109/C110/C112/C113 (bottom side ISA adapter). They are not mentioned in the BOM. Are they meant to be left out?

Small additions to the shop

I have added some items to my shop:
  • 32KB/64KB EPROM card for cartridge port
  • 128KB EPROM card for cartridge port
  • ACSI buffer circuit for ST
The cartridge port PCBs only need one EPROM/Flash. No need to split images.

Re: Diode choice

Ordered BAT42 and BAT43 and these arrived today.
I can't see any difference when attaching the scope but the BAT42 (only checked these) seem to make it work. :D
Thanks a lot tzok

Will check it on a TT, too. And then the new modules can be ordered in my shop.

Diode choice

Hi guys, I'm working on a small add-on for the cartridge port and need to AND /ROM3 and /ROM4 to get one combined /CS (for an EPROM) whenever the 128KB address range is accessed. So I did use two diodes and a resistor (In1/2 = /ROM3, /ROM4 and Out = /CS): https://i.ibb.co/sR2ZvCG/ntAAj.gif It seems ...

Re: Laser C with TOS 2.06?

I have read Laser C suppose to be 5x faster, unfortunately cannot confirm. So does really worth Laser C this afford for being so much better? Generated code run-time or compiler turn-around time? Regarding https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/comp.sys.atari.st/iDAnvcoD0Vc there should be a PATCH...

Re: HBS240/640 L1 design

Good point! To be more precise: I was referring to a statement in the Mach16 DIY article: Damit die Daten im Cache-Speicher immer denen im Hauptspeicher entsprechen, muß man sie natürlich auch bei Schreibzugriffen aktualisieren. Dabei werden gleichzeitig der Cache- und der Hauptspeicher mit eimem ac...

HBS240/640 L1 design

Hi, lately I have been wondering about the cache design of the HBS20/640 68k speeders. And two things puzzle me: ⋅ both do have a jumper to (de-)activate the cache. So it can be enabled while booting. Now how does this work when TOS is doing its memory test? It would write a bit pattern at...

Re: Timer B + DMA at once

F030's DMA sound is not that compatible with STE (TT). IIRC one sampling frequency is not supported on the F030 which lacks the LMC1992 anyway. So DMA Sound might be compatible seen from the application programmers view but not the system programmer. But I never delved into F030 DMA Sound anyway. Re...

Re: Timer B + DMA at once

Mikro, you've got a quite interesting inventory of questions regarding computer architecture :D I love them  Anyway... if I'm not totally mistaken and understand your question correctly then you are wondering how a timely IRQ can be handled while DMA is hogging the bus? If so: does DMA Soun...

Re: Multiple TimerB handlers

I've been rethinking my concept (trading time for space): If I'm not way off course (and there is no other code execution between IRQs) then code L1 will be preserved while data L1 "lags" behind (a bit... sometimes). IIRC a cache line is 4x uint32_t = 16 Bytes. The array (one set of it) I ...

Re: Multiple TimerB handlers

Maybe i misunderstood it (..) Had exactly the same thought. But maybe he wants to avoid all the IF stuff? I can only think of some array/linked list stuff. For each scan line that TimerB (I guess Timer B is HBL?) is called arrange a complete set of stuff that needs to be changed, kind of an array w...

Re: [ATARI 1040Stf] Not working

Hi, as your board has already been reworked be advised that the ServiceManual hints are based on an unmodified board. They do not take into account that bad solder joints or cracked vias/tracks happened. TOS (more or less all ST versions) boot with very similar code. ST Internals does include an app...
