Re: Does the 2 bytes alignment limitation on m68k-atari-mint creates performance hazard?

As long as TOS allocates BASEPAGE (hence TEXT segment) on 2-byte only, there is no way to get better alignment for code, static data and static variables. Whatever method is used. The best you can do is to dynamically allocate buffers and manually adjust addresses for your alignment needs. That bein...

Re: Does the 2 bytes alignment limitation on m68k-atari-mint creates performance hazard?

Alt-RAM (a.k.a. FastRAM, TT-RAM) is the default if it is available on the machine, and if there is some free space.

Re: Does the 2 bytes alignment limitation on m68k-atari-mint creates performance hazard?

Is this fixed with EmuTOS? I mean the 4 bytes alignment for the TEXT section ? Until 0.9.12, EmuTOS alignment for TEXT section was 4 bytes. But for the sake of compatibility with an obscure program called Mortimer, EmuTOS has recently changed to a 2-byte alignment in ST-RAM like Atari TOS. However,...

Re: Does the 2 bytes alignment limitation on m68k-atari-mint creates performance hazard?

Unfortunately Atari TOS aligns TEXT segment on 2-byte only. So there is no way to implement __attribute__ ((aligned(4))) on TOS.
And indeed, this will introduce random performance change on systems affected by 16-bit/32-bit alignment. I don't know how much, though.

PmDoom uses SDL. On Falcon, it works on both plain TOS or MiNT. Either full-screen or windowed.

Very nicely & concisely done, I especially like how you show a problem (e.g. colors wrong) and fixing it. Thanks :D Current program is missing resolution & palette saving at start and restoring them before exit. You are right. This will be the topic of the next video. I've almost finished w...

Re: Minimal multitask configuration for Hatari

Some QED versions may have issues if the USERDEF stack is very small, like in plain TOS/EmuTOS. No such thing happens with XaAES. I have no idea if this can cause trouble in MyAES. This could also be an EmuTOS bug, of course.

Excellent tutorial. Thanks :D How did you make all those pictures fade into the video? Looks like a lot of work... But.. I'd like to see it progress into more than just explaining branching and looping, but to how to actually create a useful program I don't plan to explain branching and looping, that would be for basic and boring 68000 lessons. I don't plan to do useful stuff either, as I generally get fun from...

Re: EmuTOS 0.9.11

I wonder how EmuTOS does handle the system clock on a Falcon with faulty Dallas chip? Original TOS trash the time and date when returning from an application. What dos EmuTOS do? FreeMint keeps date and time properly in this case. You should give a try, if you can  Or ask Hatari developers to...
