Re: ROM port Ethernet adapter

I've double checked and it was the correct binary. Why do you say it looks like a 68000 version? How did the driver behave? "This driver work only on 68000! Sorry, driver NOT installed - initialization failed!" OK, I got it, this commit broke the 060 driver: https://github.com/freemint/fr...

Re: ROM port Ethernet adapter

Busy4 (Falcon version) doesn't work, at least you will have tried until the end ;) I validate rtl8012f030_vbl_final.zip, I tested different applications and everything works normally. By cons I don't validate rtl8012ct60_vbl_final.zip, it looks like a 68000 version, it seems you made a small mistak...

Re: ROM port Ethernet adapter

Thanks again for the logs! I've taken a look to the disassembled code of the 1.3 version to see how the busy interrupt is installed and I've seen that there is code to install the interrupt handler in the VBI too. Then I've seen that I was fooled to think that the driver was using the busy interrupt...

These drivers attached are for the parallel port interrupt tests. I've done ST and Falcon030 versions, do the tests with the machine you prefer, it's not necessary that you try them in both computers. rtl8012st_busy1.zip rtl8012st_busy2.zip rtl8012st_busy3.zip rtl8012falcon_busy1.zip rtl8012falcon_b...

Re: ROM port Ethernet adapter

Sorry I just noticed that I attached a parallel interrupt version of the driver in my last post, here is the correct one. rtl8012falcon030.zip I look into this problem more deeply and I think the driver is OK and the problem is in the kernel or the TCPI/IP stack, I guess almost no one is using MiNT ...

Re: ROM port Ethernet adapter

Thanks a lot for the logs! Sorry for the delay answering. It looks like I don't install correctly the interrupt for the parallel port, but before I Iook into this further I'd like to solve the problem with the ping. At first glance I don't see anything, the command doesn't find the route, but it sho...

Re: ROM port Ethernet adapter

Oops.....I forgot that we were dealing with the ST constrains. I've strip the binaries, inet4.xdd is around 100k now. The other problem was a bug in the files used by the Makefile, no rebuilding when a header file was edited to enable debug messages. rtl8012st_splitvbl_dbg.zip rtl8012st_busy2dbg.zip

Re: ROM port Ethernet adapter

Hi Xerus, a new test's round :-) There is a package to debug the ping issue with a module with the vbl split interrupt and the int4.xdd module, both with debug messages enable. The other package is the driver with the parallel port interrupt with debug messages too. Let's see what is showing us. Tha...

Re: ROM port Ethernet adapter

Cool! the version with the split VBL handler has similar or even better performance than version 1.3.
Just one more attempt using the BUSY interrupt in the parallel port, driver attached.
I guess you still have problems pinging from the ST, I need to look into that.

Re: ROM port Ethernet adapter

Hi Xerus, By chance czietz was testing some network driver for the ST and hit the same problem than us. Fortunately for me he has discovered the cause of the problem and it should be fixed now. I've attached new modules for testing. Thanks! rtl8012st_original.zip rtl8012st_nodelay.zip rtl8012st_vbls...

Hi, thank you for your explanation, it's interresting. I tested your new version but the problem is still present, sorry. In case I also tested the other 3 versions and I still have the same problem. Courage, I'm sure you'll find out how to fix that  The driver seems to load perfectly fine, a...

Re: ROM port Ethernet adapter

I have changed my mind :D. I'm complicating things. I've split the VBL handler, this should be the easiest fix.
I've attached a driver for you to try. Thanks!

Re: ROM port Ethernet adapter

Hi Xerus, this is what I've figured out: Version 1.3 was not compiled with gcc but with Pure C or some compiler alike, and version 1.3 doesn't use the VBL to poll the interface but it uses the BUSY interrupt from the parallel port. The reason MiNT's driver is failing on a 68000 I think it's because ...

Re: hanging

My TT keyboard and PeST-connected mouse work fine. Boot v2.02. Sometimes I get that annoying key repeat but it can be cured by hitting any key so not a big issue, really. Probably you must have a FireTOS BETA 12 from the 18th December 2012 or a previous version, for FireTOSes versions post this dat...

Re: hanging

In the meantime you could try to test the combination: keyboard through Eiffel plus USB mouse, maybe it's the workaround solution to get rid of your key stuck effect problem. I believe the only way to get rid of this problem is to upgrade firmware tothe latest available on the firebee.org web page....

This is interesting, which version of FireTOS do you have? You said that you changed the keyboard by an Atari one, and the mouse? Did you change too or you're still using an USB mouse? Well, my experience is just the other way. I use Atari keyboard with my FireBee and I never had any problem with it. With USB keyboard I had key stuck problem so stoped using it. Re: ROM port Ethernet adapter

How many versions have there been between 1.3 and 1.10? From what can I see there was 1.10 imported into the freemint cvs. So hard to say. The author's website mentions its source code already as in "mint cvs" therefore there aren't any even for 1.3 version. I think driver's versions (aut...

Xerus wrote:I am surprised by the difference in size between version 1.3 to 1.10, we go from 9ko to 47ko, change of compiler?

That's because I don't "strip" the binaries before I post them here, so symbols are kept in them.

Right now I have no idea what the problem can be, I need to think about it.
