Re: Amstrad CPC Advocacy (was: Graphics in Locomotive basic)

I do see the point, but the new subject is misleading and prone to lead to a flame or something; nobody was advocating anything for or against, we were just discussing the pros and cons in a very nice way.

Re: Graphics in Locomotive basic

Never used a Sharp MZ (lovely machines!) except to run an emulated program or two, got to check it out (though, if I'm not mistaken the MZ series run up to the late 80s with new models, so it wouldn't surprise me...). Didn't remember the thing about the MSX despite having used them - I guess I'm too...

Re: Graphics in Locomotive basic

Well, true, in the sense that you have to press COPY when you reach the line that interests you. Is this so bad?

A follow-up question: any 8-bitter that had a scrolling editor?

Re: Graphics in Locomotive basic

The CPC BASIC does have drawing commands - it was, after all, probably the best 8-bit BASIC. But I would think the c64 and Atari 800 did have equivalent commands, no? So I would guess you're asking for something else... In any event, you're more than welcome to ask at http://www.cpcwiki.eu/forum !

Re: Genesis / Megadrive core ported to MiST

This project had completely passed me by... I'm so glad it exists, even though progress has slowed. This could possibly make my MiST replace my SMD after the multicarts voltage brouhaha that took place a while back, instead of having to buy a Mega EverDrive X5 to replace my EverDrive MD (anyone has ...

You can ask him for my emails, and you can see the Twitter discussion we had. Instead of, you know, showing your ignorance.

And yes, when someone starts name-calling in a thread, that right on par for a flame and is definitely troll behavior.

Re: The Atari ST (and others) and the Creative People

From your thread starter: "I feel really saddened that the author sees nothing wrong with the first volume" Oh yeah, and that, you think, refers to mistakes in English? Sheesh... Those (not many, few actually, but just not making spelling errors does not guarantee a good translation; espe...

Re: The Atari ST (and others) and the Creative People

Trying to claim that Marco isn't aware that the English isn't up to native level or that he would actively steer away from help just shows ignorance on the part of the OP. /Troed This sentence doesn't even make sense. Did I claim that "Marco isn't aware that the English isn't up to native leve...

I was pulling your leg with my last message by the way. Sorry mate, I apologise. Just out of cursioty, who were you talking about? Chris Wilkins? I never read any of this books but I noticed the numerous kickstarters and all. Yup; didn't mention it because it was neither here nor there, but indeed....

Re: The Atari ST (and others) and the Creative People

The "first sentences" have nothing to do with addressing those specific books and if you think they're an "essay how awful the books are", let's read them again: Reason I’m writing this (or rather, the occasion) is a discussion I had last night with Marco A. Breddin, writer of Th...

Re: The Atari ST (and others) and the Creative People

Thanks for those comments, mikro. I'll disagree in that no, the opposing argument was not that these are not bad products, but merely that just because these products exist I should be thankful. Of course there's going to be people who like this or that or everything or nothing. But even the "p...

Re: The Atari ST (and others) and the Creative People

Jesus. What is "my own work"? And NO, I didn't ask "what you thought about my reviews". It's unbelievable how you keep saying that. Wanna discuss my review? Go on Goodreads, where it is, and comment on it! The issue here is NOT whether I liked it or not, what is it so hard about ...

Re: The Atari ST (and others) and the Creative People

I guess we can finally say, that the Kickstarter campaign which was supposed to start for Volume 2 today will fail. Because nobody out there seemed to liked the book. That saves me $60 I guess... Everyone can draw their own conclusions and shape their own expectations based on available data. I was...
