Re: NetUSBee TOS driver

I've been using a Kingston DataTraveler G4 16GB unit with my NetUSBee. Also, some of the super small Sandisk Cruzer Fit devices work too.

Re: New power supply for my Mega ST4

voltmeter is your friend Also, find a schematic online. Google can help you with that. Your VOM readings ought to match the schematic. Going off of memory here, my motherboard STe uses a common ground between +5V and +12V. My Meanwell supply has two ground terminals but the STe motherboard had thre...

Re: Please help me remember/ID this game

The game I'm remembering is definitely Megamaze. Last night I stumbled on the game that Megamaze copied from. The game is called Dandy and was released in 1983 or so for the 8-bit systems. I spent a little time Googling Dandy and its place in history. The Wikipedia article is an interesting read! ht...

Re: video out disturbed on 1040STE

So, you tried multiple monitors all show the same issue. Forgive me for not knowing more about the monitor ... but, can you change the cable? If not then can you try a ST DIN -> VGA cable? Modern VGA monitors work in monochrome because the sync frequencies are higher. If VGA monitor also does not wo...

Re: ST520FM screen garbage

I have recently had a strange experience where faulty keyboard and faulty floppy drive were overloading the available power lines. Unplugging them both allowed me to boot to the desktop. It's not practical for everyday use :) but it is easy to test and may help isolate the problem. If you still get ...

Something like this would be perfect for one of my STe machines ... but the eject button is the wrong style. It won't fit in the case. :(

Re: Please help me remember/ID this game

I think I found it ... or something that’s really, really super close! The game is called Megamaze and it was written by Eric B. Lindros. http://www.atariuptodate.de/de/4753/megamaze I stumbled upon it while exploring one of the Crawly Crypt CDs. After my character dies the program exits and my STe’...

Re: NetUSBee USB drivers download

Oh, so these interfaces auto-sync without needing to install manufacturer specific drivers? That's great! I may try that next. Many wireless keyboard/mouse combo kits are available for $10 - $20 so it is very tempting. Maybe the auto-sync between device and USB dongle will make more sense when I act...

Re: NetUSBee USB drivers download

I have finally gotten around to testing the mouse driver! :) Yes, it is possible to have both the ST mouse and a USB mouse connected to the computer simultaneously. The USB mouse I used is a generic unit branded for iBuyPower. It tracks very, very fast across the screen - almost too fast. I see peop...

It does look very nice though.

Re: XF551 360K format

Can you format single sided, double density? That would be 180 kB on each side of the floppy.

Standard would be 90 kB and 1050 enhanced is 128 kB, yes?

What to do with a somewhat busted SF314 drive?

I posted this question on the AtariAge forum but want to post here too so I can capture a wider audience. :) I bought a SF314 drive from eBay sold as-is, untested. The drive formats disks, writes to them, and reads from them. However, a floppy written to on that drive cannot be read on the internal ...

Re: NetUSBee USB drivers download

Does this memory configuration get written into the partition during the partition creation process? Or, does it require loading the HDDRIVER driver during boot-up? Right now I am using what must be internal/native drivers in the NetUSBee hardware and software. It’s those entities that gave me the “...

Re: NetUSBee USB drivers download

I received my NetUSBee from Lotharek today and tested it with a 16 GB San Disk USB storage device. I am running a 1040 STe upgraded to 4 MB and it has TOS 2.06 installed. I formatted a floppy, created a folder named AUTO on it, and copied all the driver files in the order stated inside the README.TX...

Re: New power supply for my Mega ST4

many thanks question: will any generic atx do the trix? Generally speaking, any power supply that matches the voltage and current specs of the original supply will work. The ST doesn't need a lot of power. I can't remember the exact numbers but I think you only need 3A for the 5V feed and 1.5A - 2A...

Re: Atari 1040ST & Atari 520 ST+100's of Games+Joysticks, Massive Package

I agree. It's a bit steep, especially for someone like me here in the US. I would be more for a 3-way split: one complete 1040 ST, one complete 520 ST, and one box of s/w.

Sorry for jumping in here ... is there a single all-encompassing document that describes the installation and configuration of the NetUSBee with a storage device? You can download a demo version of the HDDRIVER software to see if your machine behaves differently with it. The demo version still lets you mount the drives. I think advanced functions like partitioning, reformatting, etc are greyed out.

Re: Atrai 520 ste memory problem

That does look very strange! Have you tried running a memory tester like YAART? It's a small program called "Yet Another RAM Tester" or something cute like that. You may find some of your memory is faulty or perhaps there is poor contact between the SIMMs and the sockets. So, you may have ...
