Re: Custom Video Modes Test Thread

Great thread, I was wondering if anyone's had any luck doing 240p@120hz over VGA? I was able to do it on the Mister menu but things looked warped with the actual cores. Has anything been proven to work for all cores?

Re: 240p/120Hz instead of 480p/60Hz for VGA scandoubler?

Ok I've been playing with the various modes and was able to get an image in 320x240@120hz. You have to set Vsync=0. Looks fantastic, unfortunately as soon as I start moving I get horrible shimmering artifacts. Now what's interesting is that I took my custom HDMI timing off my RPI4 and put it into Mi...

I tried these modelines and wasn't able to get it going. I could get the Opening MiSTer menu going, but once the cores get active I lose sync. I disabled the scandoubler and it still didn't show me anything.

Re: 240p/120Hz instead of 480p/60Hz for VGA scandoubler?

As someone who created a 240p/120hz custom resolutions on my crt monitor, I'm very interested in this. There's a significant image quality going this route vs filters/scalefx.

Keep up the good work, I look forward to trying it out myself.

Re: Test Input lag: Megadrive vs MiSTer FPGA and also Megadrive vs RGB-Pi... Which one?

I'm not suggesting anything really but merely stating mister has a close to lag free solution already. It may not be ideal for everyone but it exists and has placated my quest for a lag free solution quite well. I found my crts on Craigslist but I'm in the US and people basically give the tvs away.

Re: Test Input lag: Megadrive vs MiSTer FPGA and also Megadrive vs RGB-Pi... Which one?

Sorry, late to the party on this thread. But I was rather shocked about some posts where it seemed the lag is not a big deal. I beg to differ. It's always been my major beef with playing emulators vs real hardware. The timing is off. This is what turns me on to FPGA, as this problem, that emulation...

Re: SMS core

No one currently is working on YM2413 chip, so problems with not correct FM sound probably won't be fixed. Ping the Jotego - may be he would like to make his own version of this chip. Well I think it still sounds very good, just different. Thank you for implementing what we've got as it is better t...

Re: SMS core

Tested out the core that was released today (12/26) I found a few of the FM voices were off. Penguin Land for instance has a pitch difference in the lead voiceon the title screen, but sounds fine in the attract mode. Afterburner and Phantasy Star lead voices sounds very offon the main menu. Overall ...

Re: Cable for component video output?

I have 3 consumer crts that support 480p and 1080i(scaled 720p). A 30" Toshiba with component and HDMI. Interestingly enough it does have a mode to run 480p as 540p instead of upconverting to 1080i. A significant improvement indeed. My other two sets are the SONY 34XBR960 with the anti glare sc...

Re: MiSTer NES Core

Updated NES core fixed issues I had with YPbPr out. The rolling at the top is gone and the alignment is much closer to the center. Overall this core looks pretty incredible in YPbPr. What palette is everyone using? My personal fave is Wavebeam, but I'm using Classic since I guess that's Nintendo's &...

Re: SMS core

@GreyRogue - while trying various things out I've come across two games that I can't make work, namely Lagrange Point & Tiny Toon Adventures 2 (both Japanese). Both of these games make use of Konami's VCR7 sound expansion. Is this implemented in the Nes core? Grabbed the YM2413 module out of th...

Re: SMS core

I have the same issue with SMS being too far to the left. I have tested the new SNES and NES cores in YPbPr and they are now excellent. I have seen it mentioned in previous posts that it's being looked into. Overall SMS works pretty well and Regarding FM support I wonder if the MiSTer can implement ...

Re: MiSTer NES Core

Hey guys just wanted to bring up when using YPbPr the NES video is too far to the right on my screen which causes cut off. I had this issue with SNES but it was fixed in the latest release(20181223). I noticed in the SNES changelog that the Hsync width was changed. perhaps this can be migrated over ...

Is the cable I use. Works perfectly. Just remember to set YPbPr=1 in the *.ini file.
