Re: Scripting news

Are you on Wi-Fi? It’s not the first time I see people having problems with Wi-Fi (sometimes it’s a power issue). Can you try with PARALLEL_UPDATE="false" which will stress less the network? Anyway the script should be resilient, restoring files not updated correctly, reporting errors in ...

Re: Scripting news

Is it normal that the update script throws 'Transient errors' and is 'Throwing away bytes'?
I also got whole scrolling screens of timestamps. I have the feeling something is wrong.

Re: LXDE desktop won't start after linux update

I have updated the main mister, but I still do not get the desktop screen. I am using the settings for 1080p. Should that work? Or is there anything else to look for?

Re: C64 Core

According to the manual, using JiffyDOS loading a 202 block file should take 12 seconds. However, I noticed that it takes longer, and using a stopwatch I clocked it at twice the time. Any idea what is wrong, or what I am doing wrong? I looked in the manual if there is a way to turn off the screen wh...

Re: C64 Core

I noticed a problem with the sprites in the right border in the demo 'One Quarter' by Fairlight.
It is at this point https://youtu.be/iI8wxyRM8Do?t=202
On the MiSTer there is a white sprite overlapping the text in the right border.

Also, MiSTer does not seem to support the T64 format?

Sorgelig wrote:Scaling cannot cut the video. So you cannot simply set the magnifier and expect it will cut the parts of video.

Hence my suggestion to lower the rendered resolution from 370x280 to 360x270 (maybe as option?).
What is the problem for the scaler to cut part of the video?

Re: C64 Core

There are several versions - some of them don't have noticeable ringing. Lanczos2_15 is indeed pretty good. This is the only you can have beside the integer scaling ini option. I have been looking for that option, but must have missed it. I just looked at the ini file again, but do not see what opt...

All pixels will then get that ugly ringing around it, which the internal filter does not have. That is definitely not the same as what I proposed.

Re: C64 Core

On the internal scaler the scrolling is 'wobbly'. This is caused because some pixels are multiplied by 4 and some by 3 to scale from 370x280 to fit 1920x1080. Is it possible to scale by the same multiplier, so 4 for 1920x1080? Then you would get 1480x1120. Fitting this into 1080p would mean loosing ...

Re: C64 Core

Also would it be possible to switch the screen frequency to 50Hz of the chosen screen resolution (in my case 1920x1080) when PAL is selected and to 60Hz when NTSC is selected? Re: C64 Core

May be there are different versions for PAL and NTSC. May be it tries to detect NTSC but fails - it's unknown how it autodetect (if any). But since it works in PAL - it's not a problem. Anyway C64 is de-facto PAL machine as most games are PAL :) The game correctly detects NTSC when the C64 core is ...

Re: C64 Core

There is now a port of Super Mario Bros to the C=64. This is PAL game as most of C64 games. So as said above, switch to PAL and game will look correct. Actually it has support for both PAL and NTSC, like most of the recent games. I saw some US reviews of this port and it worked correctly on their N...

Base dev setup DE10-Nano

In advance sorry to be offtopic. I am a software developer (mainly C) and want to play around with the DE10-Nano board. Terasic provides a lot of info and I already played around with some of the samples, so I can create some FPGA code using the Intel software and get it working through the USB blas...

I tried Sam's Journey converted to crt format with Vice and found that save games will not work. Starting Vice with the supplied start batch file does work corre...

Re: C64 Core

I was playing around with the c64 core and noticed the image is not sharp, there is clearly some filtering going on, there are halos around the characters (ripples of a FIR filter). I assume that is because of a 2.5 times upsampling of the image to 720p? The effect looks very similar to a c64 connec...

Re: Arcade cores

Moon Patrol has some very blurred picture when no scaler has been selected. It seems like some filter is applied, there is clearly a 'shadow' on the left side of the screen. When you select any other scaler option, the shadow has gone. Is it possible to change scaler none to behave like CRT 0%?

Re: Introducing the VeriSNES (FPGA-based SNES)

It is very weird to put so much effort in a project like this, come this far (seems almost(?) completed) and then not to release anything. Although I have to admit I have a few unreleased projects myself, I usually get stuck on the point of turning a working prototype (lib with cmdline) into a real ...

Re: SD card utility on Win 7

Following the setup guide in the MiSTer Wiki, I just ran the install utility on Windows 7 and it created a NTFS partition which obviously not works on the DE10-Nano board. The readme of the tool itself indicates indeed you need Windows 10 64 bits. As I do not have a Windows 10 machine, are there oth...
