Re: MiSTer frontend future

it has nothing to do with FPGA. Also software audio chips emulation is miles ahead, no way FPGA will catch it in the foreseen future. Perhaps it could potentially help FPGA audio chips get closer to perfection if more people start using them and listening to them for VGMusic. If someone out there o...

Re: MiSTer frontend future

I put something together here pretty quick here to have an idea of space and how it would look, behold the MiSTer Game Music Player!!! https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/661236686566588436/663903178185637898/MGMPlayer.jpg how do you like it? ;) That's a pretty cool concept. I agree that it'd be...

Re: A larger enclosure?

I'm way behind on the project, but I've been trying to find ways to reduce the somewhat prohibitive cost of the enclosure I designed and built. It's a Front Panel Express project, and while I'm more than happy to post the drawing files, so anyone can have one made, it's in the $300+ range as-is. I ...

Re: Menu background

I've been trying to set up a different background for the menu core, since I sometimes stream video from the MiSTer and the noise eats all the video bandwidth being hard to compress. I've set up a 1280x720 px image, named it menu.png and saved it on /media/fat/, and reset the FPGA. However, pressin...

Re: USB Floppy support on MiSTer? Possible? Needed?

There's flux imaging tools like FluxEngine ( https://github.com/davidgiven/fluxengine ) that use PC floppy drives with some additional, low-cost hardware. The compatibility list is pretty short so far, but Amiga is on there as 'tested'. I don't know if that would be suitable for realtime read/write...

Re: USB Floppy support on MiSTer? Possible? Needed?

USB floppy drives are not possible because USB floppy drives are PC compatible only and won't read Amiga disks. Maybe an old FDD floppy drive can be used at least in read only mode if someone implements an adapter for FDD to expansion port, but someone would have to design an expansion port to FDD i...

Re: Floppy sound on Minimig core

It's a reality :) We already have a sound emulation of a floppy drive in Amiga AGA core thanks to @neurorules: MiSTer FPGA alternative Amiga AGA core : https://github.com/antoniovillena/MiSTer_DB9/tree/master/Minimig-AGA_MiSTer The FPGA pin assigned to the buzzer is PIN_C7. Pretty interesting. It c...

Re: NeoGeo topic

Darksoft pack includes ALL officially released AES/MVS games. And it works right away. There is no point to waste your time to convert the ROMs already included in that pack. Some of us like to use legally obtained ROMs and go the extra mile to make it work. That is all I will say to how you are ha...

Re: Commando Arcade in MiSTer

Anyway, I agree . I will remove the pause feature, it is not realistic to have it on an arcade core. I will add a credits option using the P key or OSD to enable it. During credit display the gameplay will be halted as I need to share the same hardware to display the credits. I personally don't hav...

and of course to the original authors of the cores used(t80,jt*, ...)

amazing work

Yeah too many people to remember.. not to mention all the patreon supporters. Huge undertaking and it must be hugely rewarding to see it completed

For several months? I suppose but seems like its gone dormant.. No I think thats the latest.. the core has sorta been either put on hold or abandoned .. unfortunately its closed source so no one else can pick it up and improve on it, bug fix it / extend it.. And boy it has a lot of glitches that need fixing.. Ijor was on holidays theres no reason to believe it'...

yeah, they did a lot of modification, for sure, mostly to the UI, but it was not THAT much different from MISTer's UI. just a little prettier. do y'all think that polymega was just planning to rip-off MISTer? If they chose to use open source cores as the base of their product, as long as they contributed their changes and kept it open then more power to them. Sadly, I don't believe they're using FPGA nevermind anything MiSTer related. the...
