Re: NES cartridge support

There aren't enough free pins for carts on MiSTer. You could do some hacky multiplexing or something, but it would be rough, and a lot of work and awkward hardware for a feature that isn't practical, or really part of the scope of MiSTer. A better solution would be to create a serial port interface ...

https://github.com/Kitrinx/Neogeo_MiSTer/tree/neohdmi The Lite version works perfectly now. I still have errors with the full but I fine with the lite Many thanks to you  Sorry, I didn't rename it. With Grabulosaur's scaler there isn't really a lite and full anymore, "lite" is the...

Thank you I have a branch with an updated sys that might be easier to work with: https://github.com/Kitrinx/Neogeo_MiSTer/tree/neohdmi You need the main MiSTer binary that goes ...

Re: Arcade cores

would it cause any problems to mount on startup <corename>.sav as the default save file for all cores? I assume if the core doesn't use saves, it won't cause any harm. If we did this, we could then use those for high score saving on arcade cores.

I've been looking for something like this:

https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/10806/neo-geo-x-build

that uses little extended ports to make the layout a little more polished than the development board.

Re: Cheat menu for all cores that have cheat devices.

ROM data manipulation is not the only part of cheat engine. This is easy to make by just pre-patching the ROM. Cheat engine usually includes RAM monitoring with data manipulation at run-time like keeping some values or change by some rule. And no, it cannot be done directly from HPS as data rate wi...

Re: Cheat menu for all cores that have cheat devices.

To have this be a good experience, it needs to be done with care. I've been thinking about the best way to go about it. My thoughts so far lean towards storing the codes persistently in JSON format, by game name, and then by code title, each system in a core-named file of its own. JSON is easy to li...

Re: MISTer (Main Core)

On some controllers, like 8bitdo M30 by default, DPAD counts as an analog stick. I noticed trying to map such a controller that LEFT is not counted properly in remapping.

MiSTer's framework I think is exactly what he's looking for. He seems to want a program running on arm to pass user input and file IO to the FPGA instead of using NIOS. AKA MiSTer.

Axis mapping isn't fun at all, I've done it in software before. Nothing needs more than 2 axes right now, but if PS1 ever makes it, that uses four axes.

Re: custom USB controller adapters

Btw, may be not many users know, but MiSTer has doubled dpad + analog stick direction control. Why i say i like SF30 Pro? It's because i like to use analog stick as directional pad. In games requiring some precise move step by step i use dpad where i have tactile feedback with every press. But if i...

Re: custom USB controller adapters

No, problem Use it with original NES, SNES consoles with original carts. If you are really so picky with feeling of specific gamepad then you must use original consoles instead. Modern replicas or emulators are about playing games. They are not about original buttons/tapes/carts feeling. Neither Mi...

Re: custom USB controller adapters

I just don't see a real need to convert 30 years old joystick to USB. You can made a modern replica of almost any retro gamepad with USB interface. It's may be good to practice in Arduino programming and get something working - this is really cool feeling. But for generic user who just want an USB ...

Re: C64 NeoHabitat Disk-B won't load

This is a complete low-level, cycle exact, 1541 (and other drives) emulator for the C64 that I will be releasing shortly. It is done using a dual core microcontroller. It is designed to be able to easily fit inside of your C64 (wired internally). I will also have an external plug-in board available...

Re: BlissBox Support on MiST?

I think what he's talking about is support for the bliss box's low-latency api. Bliss box's 3.0 firmware has two modes of operation via the same USB wire. It can interact with a USB host normally, as HID's, of course, and this is what is working on MiST and MiSTer right now. The new way introduced i...
