Re: Newbie questions

I'm having trouble finding a decent looking case so I am thinking of using something (maybe Velcro) to attach my MiSTer to the back of my TV in an attempt to keep my other half happy :D ... if I do this it would be in a vertical position and I could shield it from dust I would think. I'm slightly c...

Re: SDRAM board

Just to check as I can't find it anywhere but is AS4C32M16SB-6TIN the recommended chip for the xsd and xs v2.2 as the pdf doesn't seem to state it on the xs v2.2?

Re: SDRAM board

Its good that we've got something that tests the boards properly, it did seem strange that every board could flawlessly pass at theoretical maximum so easily. The boards I've got that previously passed 167 now only get zero errors at 140, but they only get the odd error every five minutes or so at 1...

Re: SDRAM board

Hi guys, I'd like to add to this if I may. I've run the memtest on my latest batch of xs 1.1 memory boards with the alliance chip and I see the same behaviour. After 5 minutes it shows 766 in red. It seems to run fine for a while and then adds a load of errors and then run fine again in a cycle. I ...

Re: Scripting news

Thanks Locutus73. I did use notepad++ to paste to after clicking on the raw button in the script itself, but for whatever reason it didn't work. I didn't realise that you need to download the whole thing including the license, readme etc and take it from there. I was looking for the option to downlo...

Updater script not working for me

I'm sure I'm probably doing something silly, but this script outputs /tmp/script: /media/fat/scripts/mister_updater.sh /bin/bash^M bad interpreter: no such file or directory when I run it. Has anyone else had this or knows how to sort it?

Would it be ok to use a 4.7 kohms resistor at r4, 10 and 16 instead of a 4.3 kohms?

Re: Any recommended powered USB Hub?

Doesn't the hub require soldering for external power? No, it's connected via a dc barrel jack, exactly like the one on the De-10. The ones I sell ship with a Y splitter. This provides enough power in my experience to run 2 wireless controllers, led keyboard, and mouse. Oh, so you can just use the p...

Re: Any recommended powered USB Hub?

The mister hub works fantastically. I wasn't aware of the MTT versus stt part but the usb ports are a lot better than the ones on commercial usb hubs.

Re: Any recommended powered USB Hub?

Yeah that's right the MiSTer OTG port is USB 2 so that is fine for the MiSTer, the usb 2 versus 3 was only regarding use of one with my PC.

Re: Any recommended powered USB Hub?

I think in all likelihood most USB hubs are quite poor unless they are very expensive. Personally I've switched to using one of the MiSTer USB hub boards not only with my MiSTer, but with my PC as well. The hub I was using had several ports fail despite being less than a year old, and having cost £4...

Re: SDRAM board installed NES SNES GB core not working

Have you tried it on more than one monitor/tv? I know this sounds like a bit of a strange thing to cause this, but I did have a customer a while back that was having problems with cores crashing. The memtest core did crash after a while though in that case but maybe it will be a similar issue.

Not sure if I'm missing something obvious, but which side of the "C" marked on the led pads is the anode and which is the cathode?

Re: USB Hub board

Fantastic work, especially the micro usb connector. Not only will it be easier with the bridge, but if that gets broken in the future the user can use an easily available cable to get them up and running again. :D

Re: Local Sellers for MiSTer Expansion Boards

I'm not sure if it's up to date, I sent a PM to Thaase to be added but I haven't heard anything back yet. It was a few days ago, but with Christmas etc I was going to leave it a while to follow up.
