Re: Turbochip - 7-channel YM+DMA replay

Could this evolve into transwave synthesis, perhaps? (i.e. modulating through a set of synchronised waveforms, hence producing all sorts of effects such as pulse width modulation or even filter fx). It would consume a bit of memory, but perhaps it won't affect CPU usage that much (I'm clueless obvio...

Re: ZXR 0.1c (updated)

I am another one who would like to see also FireBee version. But I think most reasonable would be to run amulator in a GEM window. Like SDL ports. Another CPU core written in C makes a sense. But also the suboptimal code could be ststed. If it is usable on the Falcon then I believe it should be fas...

Re: ZXR 0.1c (updated)

Can you port it for FireBee? With a little work it could be made to run on the Firebee, but it won't be native ColdFire code (hence it will be sub optimal). It would probably make more sense to use another emulator in such case. Or, perhaps I should add an additional CPU core written in C... That c...

Tested few 48k TAP files from World of Spectrum with Hatari TT/EmuTOS combo. While others worked fine, Cybernoid came up just with a black screen: http://www.worldofspectrum.org/infoseekid.cgi?id=0001196 The CPU core is optimised for speed rather than compatibility. Re: ZXR 0.1c (updated)

Ok. Looking at the (attached) profile assembly, "xx_im0" (which takes more cycles than "cmd_xx") is actually latter part of the "cmd_xx" subroutine, so looking at the whole indeed makes sense. :-) Btw. Have you looked at the callgraphs yet? Yeah! Finally. I've been a b...

I'm impressed by the work so far and really like where this is going! A thought... given that most ppl interested in this new mobo probably want something faster than 030 & FPU, how about lifting them off the mobo to a daughterboard for the expansionbus instead? You can save some more space and...

The code generated by screens of pain works very well unless you’re doing something very wrong (obviously you need to call it from supervisor mode, for example).

With the CosmosEx in mind, yes, an internal solution would be way better. AFAIK there was very limited use of the external connector -- many tower owners would transform it into the classic flat SCSI cable anyway. Perhaps there are still people having only one external SCSI device (or people willin...

Thanks for the instructions Eero! I've always wanted to do profiling but never learned the procedure (actually I use a logic analyser for profiling at work, since I never figure out how to use the proper tools). All the top entries are inside the CPU core. cmd_xx is a dispatcher for a range of multi...

Re: The Falcon's confusing history

Keep in mind that ALL of the ST/STE/TT/Falcon machines had basically the same system architecture as the original 520ST that's not exactly true. ST/STE/TT share the same concept of sharing bus ram (ST-RAM) - even cycles are assigned to the CPU, and odd cycles to the Shifter. Therefore regardless of...

Updated, again. It seems I didn't configure the sound matrix properly, perhaps this version works better (mainly affects beeper sound emulation on Falcon).

Updated (see initial post). It's only a minor update, and I haven't looked at any TOS4 issues yet (sorry!). Changes: - tape auto load support (no need to type LOAD "" to start loading) EDIT: Tried it on TOS 4.04, and it works for me (tried Manic Miner and Zynaps; Manic Miner seems to run a...

Re: 1920x1200? Rotation?

Not in some easy way, no. In theory one could make a driver which allows for this, but that either means going through hell to reimplement everything or to sacrifice quite a bit of performance.

It would be awesome to have such a feature though, obviously.
