Re: LZ4 decoder (assembler)

By curiosity I've checked if this behavior of the stack pointer (" A7 is decremented by two to maintain a word-aligned stack ") exists on all 680x0 processors. 680x0 User's Manuals describe this behavior for the 68000-68030 processors, but nothing for the 68060. Any idea how it behaves on...

Re: Fastest way to move 256 words on 68030 TT for 4096 colour display

Oh I love this thread. The TT is such an awesome yet neglected machine. The 640x480x4bpp mode uses banked palette registers, i.e. there are 16 palette entries in each palette bank, and a total of 16 banks. Only one bank is active at a time. ... so switching banks could probably be done very often, s...

Re: New SuperVidel & some ideas for future development.

Yes, but a lot of applications that looks like GEM applications writes window contents directly to screen memory. If it works on Aranym + native fVDI, it should work on a software-rotated VDI as well. Not even Conholio does naughty things like that (although I've considered it as an option). That's...

It won't work for non-VDI stuff, if that's what you mean. Anything VDI/GEM wouldn't even know about it (i.e. it would work out of the box).

Re: New SuperVidel & some ideas for future development.

@leech: Screen rotation could be achieved with some work using the TOS VDI, but I'm fairly confident that it's more or less impossible/hellish to achieve this on the NVDI driver side. So in such case one would have to live with the VDI + NVDI-sans-graphics-drivers combo. This wouldn't require the us...

I guess it could make sense to check the serial communications - if there is any - with a logic analyzer or oscilloscope.

Yeah. If your code is executed of om a MiNT setup, these variables are likely to exist. On plain TOS, they’re often not, so you’ll need a fallback for that.

Another question: where are you supposed to put temporary files on a Falcon? C:\ ?

I’d check the relevant environment variables first, and if that failed, use the current directory.

Re: Falcon DSP sound systems options with m68k-atari-mint gcc

Sorry I have no experience with DSP. I could link the SDL_mixer available on your website, but mikmod and the .wav player from SDL seem to be using the cpu and are quite slow, I wondered which are the other libraries that would be easy to integrate (to play chiptunes and samples) or if there is an ...

Re: Make .prj from CLI

I made a script some time ago; it uses python + make internally to build from PRJ. It's part of CrossTOS, which is an experimental cross-compiler-compiler (it bolts a 68k emulator + binary + fake TOS into a portable binary). TC and PureC seems to work well enough to build things. https://bitbucket.o...

Re: Extend the sound system for MiNT

If firebee can do, vampire should, too. Don't forget AMMX capapilities, this should be as powerfull as DSP. nope. there is no enough power to emulate DSP neither with ColdFire nor 68080. But they add DSP support directly in FPGA code One doesn’t have to emulate the DSP to add a useful standard XBIO...
