Re: NEW USB Host Controller via ACSI

BigDOS only allows FAT16 partitions to be used, these are not TOS partitions. You need to create the type field as $06 to use them with BigDOS, but they can be up to 2GB. BigDOS also disables <32MB partitions, so make sure any partition is bigger than that. Well, it's certainly good that my BigDOS ...

Re: NEW USB Host Controller via ACSI

If you can see the device then it should work. Therefore it should be 1.1 compatible.

How are you powering the Unicorn, and can you check you are getting 5V to it.

What version of HDDRUTIL ?

Re: NEW USB Host Controller via ACSI

If the Unicorn doesn't see the USB drive, then there's either something wrong with the USB flash drive or the Unicorn itself. Have you tried another USB flash drive ? or even a USB mouse ? Just something USB ? Just load USB.PRG and UNICORN.PRG and see if it scans anything on the bus to confirm that...

Re: NEW USB Host Controller via ACSI

Fortunately, the offending instruction is 0x1686 or MOVE.B D6,(A3), a rare instruction that occurs only once in the Unicorn drivers, more precisely in USB.PRG. So I guess this is the location of the crash. At this location we have ... [...] move.w #$48,-(sp) ; Malloc [...] However, it is not normal...

Yes, it looks like your header connector is completely reversed, making all the connections wrong. Please double check them.

Re: New board: MonSTer

I do have another problem (though this may be at my own ignorance): when I run M_ALTRAM.PRG from the AUTO folder I get these strange black boxes replacing icons and other window elements. This happens whenever I select one of the memory options (2 MB ALT-RAM, 4 MB ALT-RAM or 6 MB ALT-RAM) then rebo...

Fujiyama wrote:There was some talk about USB up-/downstream a while back, and incompatibilities with certain USB hubs. Not sure about the details, but this was straightened out with later versions of the Unicorn which had some additional circuitry to resolve this, wasn't it?

Correct.

Powered hub is better. And multiple USB devices can be used just fine. There is no keyboard driver.

Re: NEW USB Host Controller via ACSI

Honestly, I'd buy a USB hub. Plug that in, and get it in a better location that you don't have to mess about directly at the Unicorn.

Re: RTC module for MegaSTe MonSTer

The DS1307 works fine too, it's compatible with the DS1338, but the DS1307 is 5V only so you'd need to pick up 5V from somewhere else.

Re: New board: MonSTer

I'd attach directly to pin 10 on the ACSI port itself, the clip will fit into the DMA port on the right side to ensure you are picking up the correct signal.

Re: New board: MonSTer

You don't type "TOS" in capitals. For a TOS partition you don't type anything at all.

Re: New board: MonSTer

You don't need to format anything these days as long as you trust the device. IDE doesn't need formatting. All that does these days is map where bad sectors are.

Re: New board: MonSTer

Read up on IDE. There is a primary and slave device. It's always been that way. If you use a single card adapter, it's usually primary/slave selectable with a jumper anyway. The CF card works in the same way.

Re: New board: MonSTer

I didn't mean on the MonSTer board, I meant your IDE-CF card. If you get two bombs, then it's likely something is on the card that the MegaSTE is trying to boot from, and crashing. Hold the ALT key down to avoid booting from the device which would allow the MegaSTE to see it at 00:00. Which would be...

Re: New board: MonSTer

First off, it looks like the CF card is plugged into the secondary slot as it's appeared at 01.00. You should move it to the primary as you only have one card.

Secondly, to boot, you need to make sure it's partitioned as "TOS ONLY" in HDDRUTIL.

Re: New board: MonSTer

You've got ACSI pin 10 wrong. It's the other side.

There are two ACSI pins on the MonSTer for daisy chaining other hardware that needs interrupts, saving them having to connect to pin 10 on the ACSI port as well.
