Re: Atari 520ST black screen with white border

Welp, it looks like the CPU is halted. /RESET is high and blips low on reset while /HALT is low then blips high on reset. /BERR is always high regardless which looking at the manual implies that the reset circuit is working OK. The board looks super clean, but maybe a bad trace/joint somewhere. I'll...

Re: Atari 520ST black screen with white border

I've double-checked the GLUE PLCC, all pins are making contact. Pin 19 of the GLUE /ROM2 has continuity to pin 20 on both U7 and U4 (hi-0 and lo-o) ROMs.

I'm wondering if the GLUE is bad, or maybe the ROMs. I'm trying to get a working 520ST mainboard so I can swap the GLUE and see what I get.

Re: Atari 520ST black screen with white border

ROM2 on the GLUE is high. Is it constantly high - all the time? There should be at least four low pulses (CPU fetching 32bit SP and 32bit PC = four 16bit accesses). Check the PCB trace of /ROM2 and look at Glue's PLCC socket if that pin has contact. I have no SC1224 at hand. Try pulling all TOS ROM...

Re: Atari 520ST black screen with white border

Gonna bring out the logic probe this weekend and check the DRAMs. Good idea. As it seems that all data lines are affected I suggest to look for unusual behaviour on /RAS0 (if it is a "real" 520 with 512KB) otherwise on /RAS1 if it got a memory upgrade using the 2nd bank. Additionally you ...

Atari 520ST black screen with white border

Hi all - Picked up a 520ST (North American version) recently and it only displays a black screen with a white border on an SC1224 RGB monitor. No sound of keys clicking when typed on keyboard. Power LED is on. I've checked the PSU voltage and all rails are good. No hot chips on the mainboard. DRAM c...

Re: Introducing alternative USB HUB Board

The MiSTer does not track mouse movements with a real Amiga ball mouse connected to the Retronic Design adapter into USB. But why use on old amiga mouse? Using classic DB9 joysticks is different, because it is a completely different feel. It is quite hard to play some games like Decathlon or Summer...

Re: Introducing alternative USB HUB Board

I know you're planning on using the Retronic Design hardware for the DB9 ports but just wanted to mention that the Amiga mouse FW for the Retronic does NOT work with the MiSTer. The MiSTer does not track mouse movements with a real Amiga ball mouse connected to the Retronic Design adapter into USB.

Re: Local Sellers for MiSTer Expansion Boards

Hi all - I received a damaged DE-10 board from Digikey -- the micro USB port doesn't seem to work. They sent me a new one and don't want the old one back. I have no use for it, so if someone wants to pay shipping and can make use of it, it's yours free + shipping. It's the whole kit...

Re: ao486: what do you use to transfer files?

If you're on a Mac, just change ".vhd" to ".img" and double-click the image. It will mount and you can copy stuff to it. When done, unmount the image (drag mounted icon to trash) and rename the ".img" to ".vhd". You're good to go!

Re: SNES core

Think I figured it out. DOH! You need to update the mister.ini with the new config options when you go to MiSTer_20181221 or you get black screen on some cores. Having vscale_mode declared in the ini is probably important. :) Nope. If you don't have that option then you just get it as if vscale_mod...

SNES_20181219.rbf gives me black screen via HDMI. I can get the OSD and hear music from my default game boot.rom (Super Mario), but just black screen. Using MiSTer_20181221. SNES_20181213.rbf works fine. Just replaced the 20181219 RBF with 20181213 and all is good. Anyone else have this problem? Th...

Re: C64 Core

I tried Sam's Journey converted to crt format with Vice and found that save games will not work. You need somehow to use the supplied flash.bin file, but you can not include this in the crt file (at least I could not get this to work). Starting Vice with the supplied start batch file does work corr...

Has anyone tried playing Sam's Journey on the C64 core? Probably would need to use the CRT version with PAL? Re: C64 Core

Is it actually possible to use a USB mouse? GEOS is almost unusable without a mouse. And for the C64 there was a mouse. The only question is, is this implemented in the core. At least GEOS will not recognize a mouse attached to the USB port. finally got around to trying GEOS out on the C64 ...

Re: Some newbie questions - Atari ST, supported joypads, keyboard etc.

And finally about joypads. I have INNEXT SNES replica joypads and when I browsed through the "show your setup" thread I saw someone using them so I reckon they are supported. Since the Atari 8bit, C64 and Amiga used the Atari 2600 style 1-button controllers, Jump&Runs often used "...

Re: Minimig (Amiga) core discussion

I loaded Body Blows Galactic (non-AGA) last night and while it ran, the display was almost unwatchable due to rapid vertical shifting +/- 1 pixel. I would guess the game is using an interlaced mode and maybe MiSTer HDMI/scaler isn't handling it very nicely, but I don't know for certain. Are you usi...
