Re: YM output amplitude of volumes

Yes thanks, I found it too and already asked him if I could use the amplitude table of SC68 and he agreed.

Re: YM output amplitude of volumes

Oh, I've found one from the Hatari emulator:
https://github.com/hatari/hatari/blob/m ... rc/sound.c

It's different from the one I wrote on first post, so... which one to choose now? :)

Re: YM output amplitude of volumes

Thanks for these links. However, I'm not sure they fit what I'm looking for. I see tables to get the values to send to the PSG according to the samples you want to play. What I need is the "electric" amplitude of the signal, for each volume step, sent to the speaker. I don't believe any so...

YM output amplitude of volumes

Hi all, Is there somewhere a reliable table indicating, for each of the 32 steps of the volume of one channel, the amplitude of the signal? (16 for the "normal" volume, 32 if hardware envelopes are used). One table I could find is the one from Vortex Tracker : 0, 0, $F8, $1C2, $29E, $33A, ...

Re: YM4 file

Thanks. YM4 is obsolete, indeed, but I still wanted to be sure I decoded it correctly, hence the need of YM files.

Re: YM4 file

I've just checked the ST Sound sources, the YM parser simply doesn't support YM4 files ("use YM5/6 instead"). So I guess that's why no YM4 seems to have been released.

Re: YM4 file

Thanks for the YM, I have checked them, but none is YM4... I'll ask Leonard directly, but in the meantime if someone knows he has YM4 files, I'd be useful to me. Thanks!

Many thanks. Please don't spend hours checking for the (rare apparently) YM4 files, though :).

YM4 file

Hi all,

I'm looking for all the types of YM that can be found, for a special feature of Arkos Tracker 2. I have all of them except YM4 (and YM1, which I guessed was never released!). Does anyone of you have a few songs he could send me? I'd like to make sure I can load them correctly.

Thanks!

Re: YM + digidrum won't work

New input from Leonard about these bits 7-6:

"Je ne me souviens plus du tout mais les sources sont disponibles. En regardant YmMusic.cpp dans readYm6Effect je vois que les bits 6 et 7 forment un code de 2 bits:
00: SID
01: Digidrum
10: Sinus-SID
11: Sync-Buzzer"

Re: YM + digidrum won't work

Please accept my PR. Just noticed some other problem, the offset in the header is not right since the digidrum count is on 2 bytes, not 4, and the "Player frequency in Hz" is a DWORD, not a WORD (see the YM3 and YM5 format).

Re: YM + digidrum won't work

Aaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!! I've found out!!!!!!!!!!!!! After many tries, I understood why it didn't work. In R3, bit 6 MUST be 1 when triggering the digidrum. Don't ask me why, I don't know, this is not in the documentation!!!! Bits 5-4 indicate the channel where the digidrum is played (01 =...

Re: YM + digidrum won't work

No idea, but I don't think they have, they don't need to! JAM is probably doing that, because it imports SNDH, so 68+MFP are emulated. But for "simple" AY emulator (ST Sound, AY emul), I would say no.

Re: YM + digidrum won't work

@zippy : Since you managed to produce digidrum correctly, can you have a look at my YM to quickly check if my data seems fine to you? Just check the registers in my post, don't bother analysing the YM. Maybe you'll understand what is wrong.

Re: YM + digidrum won't work

Thanks for your reply. However, I didn't even tried to replay the YM on an Atari (I don't even code on 68000!). I simply exported the YM from my Tracker, and tried it with various PC players (ST Sound, AY emul). The music always works fine, but the digidrums are never heard.

Re: YM + digidrum won't work

@mylynn1974 Actually, there is a flag in the "flag attributes" which SHOULD be set to 1 (signed sample, bit 1). But on the YM I studied, it is never set to one, even though the samples are signed. Anyway, I tried producing signed/unsigned sample, setting/resetting this bit, and it doesn't ...

Re: YM + digidrum won't work

Thanks for your reply. The doc on the Leonard is vastly incomplete, the doc I'm referring to is here . I thought that the volume of channel B would have to be specified. What happens if you set it to decimal 63 (hex: 0x3f)? Why 0x3f? The doc states that it should either be the volume (5 bits) if the...

YM + digidrum won't work

Hi all, My tracker (Arkos Tracker 2) successfully generates YM, but till now, without digidrums. I started implemented that, and for reason unknown, the digidrums simply do NOT work. NOTHING can be heard (the music sounds very fine except that). I wondered if anyone could "debug" this tiny...

On a sidenote, someone is asking about using the player in STOS. He's already using a SND/SNDH player for Maxymiser. I guess using your player can be done, right?

Re: Anyone to convert a Z80 music player?

I also need to know if *every* word should be aligned, or only those which refer to address. Example: dw #1234 ;This is a frequency. Should be aligned? dw LoopPoint ;Shoud be aligned? And what is the best way to add alignment, according to the assembler. Should I add a "-compatiblity Vasm/Rmac&...

Re: Anyone to convert a Z80 music player?

Oh, and sorry if I offended you about your assembler. It was only a joke. So now I learn we need compatibility options for Vasm and Rmac. What would be useful would be to have a list of what to do and what not: - Remove whitespace between operands (Vasm). - Align every address. I don't understand th...
