Re: Genesis / Megadrive core ported to MiST

Main character animation in Aladdin is broken (i.e. animation is static when moving) with latest beta core (fpgagen-beta_20181013.rbf) and firmware.

Re: [ZX Spectrum Core] New Update

Thanks MasterOfGizmo for the answer. The problem with it is that instead of the usual, for example pressing key '1', press you get keydown 1, release you get keyup 1. In game layer mode pressing '1' you get keydown 'a' & keyup 'a', release '1' you get keydown 'b' & keyup 'b'. It's probably n...

Re: [ZX Spectrum Core] New Update

I was hoping to add "Recreated ZX Spectrum Keyboard" support to this core but I think the USB keyboard support is in the MiST firmware that would need changing not the core itself. This keyboard, in "Game layer" mode replicates the ZX keyboard exactly, like Symbol Shift, Caps Shi...

Re: Newbie MIST peripherals

Agree with Drog, I use a Sony 14” CRT with RGB SCART and it looks stunning with the cores. LCD just can’t match it for retro. You should be able to pick one up cheap, they’re so well made they last for decades. It’s picture is very close to a PVM.

Re: Which FPGA clone to choose?

Future proof (I am told that MIST boards will not be manufactured anymore) None of these boards will be future proof. MiST is still produced and has a number of active developers (which has recently picked up again). MiSTer is still a sort of kit board although it is a very nice FPGA. It also depen...

Just a thought, I haven't seen this corruption on anything other than Arcadians, perhaps the game image is corrupted? Higgy an ideas?

Re: BBC Micro

Arcadians looks fine to start with then randomly during the game the graphics get corrupted. There's also a few games where the video wraps round the edge of the screen, only a few games and I can't remember what they are - will need to check again.

Re: MiST core and firmware changelog

Same problem here with current Mist site C64 core and firmware_180810.upg - i.e. D64 images don't load. Also noticed a few menu issues with older cores with this firmware.

Backup to firmware_170412.upg for me as it doesn't have these problems.

Re: BBC Micro

slingshot, looks good. I hoped the new CPU AND VIA might have fixed some timing problems but they're still there. Examples: bad apple has pauses, "beeb track" the bass is out of tune with the rest, arcadians has graphics corruption.

But it has fixed Empire Strikes Back! Nice one. :D

Re: NEW OR UPDATED ARCADE CORES

Colours on many of the cores are a little off on RGB. The red colour is almost brown so I think the intensity needs increasing - this would of course affect other non-primary colours. The other primary colours look OK. Also Burger Time has a green look to it. Haven't tried it on VGA. Good examples a...

Re: Sinclair QL

Yes, they're the raw files. You need to create an MDV (microdrive) file using the qlayt utility http://www.jadiam.org/QL/QLAY2/. Sadly, due to crackpots, many original Sinclair QL images for games/programs are still closely guarded and not released. Once you've got and MDV image run the following co...

Re: ZX80/ZX81 core [new]

slingshot, Wow! you've fixed it. Skew problem, that also affected the older core I worked on, has been fixed and the video looks perfect on SCART - looks better than my real ZX81!

With your permission I'll replace the old core on the official Mist website with this core.

Re: ZX80/ZX81 core [new]

Great to see the ZX81 getting some more love! What is the rom supplied with this, doesn't look like a UK ZX81 one to me (actually looks to be ZX80 only). Tried using an original ZX81 ROM but it doesn't work - from here https://k1.spdns.de/Vintage/Sinclair/80/Sinclair%20ZX81/ROMs/ Update: Figured it ...

Why don't you put this repository into the official Mist repository?

Contact Till Harbaum.

Masterofgizmo, You are an FPGA GOD! You’ve done more for bringing FPGA magic to the general public more than anyone I know. The MIST is still a great product and I’m sure it can still provide years of retro fun. Totally understand your decision, things move on. Sadly we don’t seem to have a MIST2 an...

jwdonal, the world is your oyster then! I almost wet myself when you announced VeriSNES maybe ported to the MiST/MiSTer (MiST 2?). That would be the "killer app" for FPGA.
