Re: Questions about MaxYMiser

I'm very happy you told me about the 8287 thing, as it's very useful for the cover I'm working on. :) (I didn't end up being able to use it for the original tune I was making while asking)

Re: Questions about MaxYMiser

You mean digidrum on the YM channels? Should be by setting 'D' in the last column of the "Mix" instrument matrix and assigning a sample number on the "DigiSample" instrument setting. Yeah, it works now! Here I should use a value for the Project Rate that's also an option for the...

Re: Questions about MaxYMiser

You can also lower your maximum YM instruments volume, to match samples volume. Yup, but I think that's not desirable. Especially because you might want to use a buzzer somewhere. Anyway: do you know how to assign a digidrum sample to an instrument, so that it plays the sample every time there are ...

Re: Question(s) about MaxYMiser

I feel like that wouldn't be an issue, as usually I have to increase the volume manually to make it louder. It will distort the sound, but that's usually fine, and it's important for samples to be loud enough.

Re: Question(s) about MaxYMiser

Just enter your rate in the "Project Rate (Hz)" filed in the left bottom corner, and write RAW 8bit signed or unsigned, mono or stereo. I've just rechecked and it works fine for RAW files. To my great surprise, this also works. 8O  I feel like it's quite an accomplishment to have fi...

Re: Question(s) about MaxYMiser

I recommend sox for audio samples conversion. I use this command line (on Windows) with it for my maxYMiser sample work aimed at melodic composition on the DMA channels: sox "%1" -b 8 -c 1 -e signed-integer "%~n1.raw" rate -v 8287 Just write it in a .bat file, put that file in t...

Re: Question(s) about MaxYMiser

Thanks for the replies, guys! I'm hopeful. Audacity does indeed export to 8-bit unsigned mono, but there's no option for Rate. I'll try to do some other things with the number 8287. I considered 44100 * 44100/8287 for the rate, but that gives a number above 200k, while it should be around 100k. I'm ...

Re: Question(s) about MaxYMiser

I think it depends on the kind of replay method you intend to have with the sample, either ST YM digi or STe DMA. But i guess you're talking about STe replay, as for digidrums you can set the sample frequency in the instrument editor. For STe replay the manual states (in section "(6.5) Sample ...

Re: Question(s) about MaxYMiser

Has anyone figured out the exact frequency multiplier to get a sample into MaxYMiser with the right frequency? I thought the needed frequency would be (originalsamplerate * (originalsamplerate / 19200)), but that delivers a sample about one and a half semitone too low. I've asked gwEm, but it appear...

Re: My compositions made in MaxYMiser!

This is the first in a new series, where I base a tune on a certain setting used in video games. In this case, Plains/Grassland. I wonder if I'm the first to use bird sounds in an Atari tune... probably not, actually, but I don't know.

Re: The Obligatory 'Introduce Yourself Thread'...

Hello, all. I'm an Atari ST newcomer looking to expand my US-centric (MS-DOS + console + a tiny bit of Amiga) view of classic computing and retrogaming. A couple of YouTube videos caught my eye and here I am. I hope to learn a lot, have some fun and explore the new world that is Atari computing. Co...

Re: Get images from pc to DEGAS+?

This isn't an option for me. I only see a list of filetypes to save as, and all are selected. I've got XNViewMP, is that the right program? Otherwise I'll simply try to use the commandline program again, as that worked out last time. :) Huh, I found it now. It wasn't there when I checked on my lapt...

Re: My compositions made in MaxYMiser!

Here's a new tune! This one was rather experimental, but I do really like how it turned out. Do check out the YouTube video, as I'm rather happy with what I made in DEGAS Elite for this one. ;) Out of Tune Featuring Doorbell, Big Ben and Nokia Video Download (same link as always, if it gets too clut...

Can't find Degas+ manual

Hello guys, I was looking for the manual to DEGAS Elite, and I'm sure I used to have a scan of it I found online, but I can't find it anymore. I haven't got it on paper either. Can someone help me out?

I figured it out! You need to create an instrument that's got 000D for the mix. (D standing for DigiDrum)

Re: Question(s) about MaxYMiser

Hey, you can use DigiDrums on the first three channels as well, right? There's an FX command for it, and you can also specify a sample to use for an instrument. However, I can't get the samples to sound. Does anyone know how to do this? :)

I think my diskettes are formatted fine. I just did format A: /T:80 /N:9, and I've copied over several files succesfully. :)

Re: How to copy multiple files at once?

By the way: there's a file which I successfully copied onto my diskette, and I can see the file in Windows, with the correct size. However, when I try to copy it from the diskette onto another disk, it says the file is corrupt. Is there any chance I can get the program off the floppy disk anyway, an...
