Re: blitter question

The fastest screen clearing (32kb) with CPU on ST is something like that: movem.l d0-d7/a0-a5,-(a6) or movem.l d0-d7/a0-a6,xxx.w (screen address has to be in low memory) Unrolled it needs between 68k and 69k cycles. The blitter in HOG mode needs for the same around 64k cycles. So you will have just ...

Re: New board: MonSTer

Thanks for the quick answer even i hoped for faster TT-Ram Access.

Nevertheless i ordered one for the STE - first i wanted two but it seems there is just one in stock.

Re: New board: MonSTer

I am very interested in this board! I already have some of your very well working IDE-Boards.

One question - is the access to TT-Ram faster than to ST-Ram on this board? And if yes how much? (Sorry if you metioned this already but i didn't read the whole thread.)

Re: What CPU booster combination do people want ?

TOS206 would break more software than the 020. I would actually be quite surprised if that turned out to be true. Of course, I mainly run demos on my STE ... :P I have to agree. No way. Stack frame format and instruction cache (breaking self modifying code) cause much more trouble than TOS2. Ditto,...

Re: What CPU booster combination do people want ?

I would be happy about every booster for the STE/MegaSTE. :D Personally i prefer an acceleration card with 68000, TOS 2.06 and FastRAM. The 68000 CPU should be switchable to 8 MHz so you have 99% compatibility. With 68020 a lot of games and demos won't run. :( Also FastRAM is nearly a must for a mea...

ST video: Are 60 Hz really 60 Hz?

I am using a PAL Atari 1040STE and working on a project that uses 60 Hz. For some purposes it has to know the accurate refresh rate.

Is it really 60 Hz, 59.94 Hz like NTCS or something else? :? Is there any way to calculate it during runtime and/or from a clock?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi, i have found my very first Atari public releases on Demozoo today. I always thought they have been lost.. :D So my personal demo history on Atari: Dis(UnitedVision) -> RavingMad(Cruor) -> RA(Paradox) UnitedVision also had the member Nohow (later a member of Therapy). The two sample music discs h...

Hi,

Great that this works fine with the STE!

Does anybody knows a reliable shop (no alibaba.com) where i still can buy the DS1216F?
I found only the DS1216D with 32 pins to buy - but would this work as well?

Midres 60Hz pixel timing

Hi,

It seems that the pixel timing in 60Hz midres is not accurate. Everything is shifted by three pixels compared with a 1040STE and a MegaSTE. You can see this while using sync stuff and color stripes.
I can provide a test program if you need.

Detecting TT/Fast RAM

Hi everybody,

I know that i can check $5A8(ramvalid) with the magic number $1357BD13 to see if $5A4(ramtop) with the pointer to the end of fast ram is valid.
But how do i know where the fast ram starts to calc the size of it?

Re: R-TYPE DELUXE DEMO *OUT NOW!*

Cool that you are still working on this! The intro looks very nice.

I tried to play it with Hatari, but i couldn't manage to get the joystick emulation working. I haven't a joystick for my real STE anymore. Does it support the extended joystick ports of the STE? Then i could use my Jaguar pad.

Re: MiST - FPGA ST

What does that mean? With 16 million bus cycles the tg68 runs rougly 8 times faster than a real 68k running at 8Mhz. This is roughly the speed of the TT. And this is what i realistically expect for the MIST atari core as well: Being as fast as a TT. Maybe you'll get that for christmas ... i call th...

Re: Detailed STE DMA audio documentation?

Hi, Great to see that you are working on STE support! - in stereo mode exactly as many words as "sample rate" are fetched from memory per seconds. And e.g. in 25khz mode 25000 words are being read and one byte is sent to both outputs at that rate. - in mono mode only half the words are nee...
