Re: Genesis / Megadrive core ported to MiST

For one, PSG sound is too loud relative to FM. it's FM sound too quiet as i've told already :) Genesis core is most quiet core among others. Good for late night :) There is a block in jt12 called jt12_limitamp. Very simple, it doubles the amplitude of the input while preventing overflow. You could ...

Re: Genesis / Megadrive core ported to MiST

Slingshot, where are you posting your synthesized core? I see your github repository, is it there? By the way, if you enable the issues tab in github, we can post there problems specific to system level FPGAgen. For one, PSG sound is too loud relative to FM. We can open an issue in my repository abo...

Re: Genesis / Megadrive core ported to MiST

I have just released v0.40 of JT12 (master branch). Much improved. Many broken games should have correct sound now. Slingshot, please use external FIFO to prevent system-level timing misalignments with YM2612. I have received a lot of community support this time. The new version of FPGAgen by Slings...

Re: Genesis / Megadrive core ported to MiST

@Slingshot, I have released version alpha 0.39 with clock gating and improved CPU interface. Punisher sounds right now. I have verified it with your core. This is how I instantiate the new JT12 release: -- FM fm : jt12 port map( rst => RST_VCLK, -- gen-hw.txt line 328 clk => MCLK, cen => FCLK_EN, li...

Re: Genesis / Megadrive core ported to MiST

Yes, this is a known issue reported here . It might get fixed with the next update of JT12 when I move to a clock-enable structure. Would be great to see an improved JT12. You wrote in the past that timing and stability problems happened all the time. I don't know if you have still MiST or went to ...

Re: Genesis / Megadrive core ported to MiST

During the summer months I've been busy with travelling, reading and flamenco... so I didn't spend much time on this. Please use the MiSTer version for now as it is the most compatible one. The changes with JT12 v0.2 are minimum and for Megadrive work well. Thanks for the answer! Strange the forum'...

Re: Genesis / Megadrive core ported to MiST

This is mainly a reply to slingshot. Somehow I got an email from you but it didn't include the reply addess. It was sent through this forum, though. The latest version of JT12 had FIR filters to improve sound on the FPGA 1-bit DAC. They take a lot of real estate in terms of LE. It also has a mixer t...

Re: Genesis / Megadrive core ported to MiST

Yeah, I don't know what's causing the Worms issue - but it's not the sprite channel running out of bandwidth, that's something else entirely. I think I have seen a similar bug on Double Dragon II Hi Jotego! Any news about progress with FM synthesis part of Sega Megadrive core? Thank you for your ef...

Re: Ghosts'n Goblins on MiST

I am not sure what happened to the twitter account. It has been working for me all this time... Anyway, as my regular job is keeping me fairly busy and I have not been able to work on this for the last 2~3 months; I have decided to release what I have now. I hope to complete it next year (2018). Jus...

Re: Where to get Atari ST core and newbie questions

Welcome to MiST! The Atari ST core is actually called MiST. You can find it in github indeed . The file is the .rbf one ,10 months old as of today. The TOS image was a problem with real ST computers too. Some software depends on specific TOS versions so if something fails, try a different TOS versio...

Re: M

The header actually contains detailed information about the ROM, like the mapper ID and its capabilities (backuped RAM, ROM, additional VRAM, etc). The problem is that a lot of ROMs out there are pirated versions that were running on custom cartridges/mappers. Sometime it's a huge effort to impleme...

Re: Perfecting existing cores

How about 10-20 games+demos+homebrew titles are initially selected to be tested. This can be known demanding games, ones that emulation have difficulty in running. It will be easier to split up the work and we will progress through Cores quicker and feel like progress is being made. Yes, deep testi...

I have a v1.3 with MIDI add-on board, and I also use the MIDI ports as an extra serial port with a core I'm working on. I've built an adapter cable which connects to the DIN connectors and is brought out to header pins on a lead for plugging in an FTDI basic board (such as you would need for connec...

My vote is ensuring all cores work on all MiST versions before new ones are created !! ;) I wish Amstrad CPC Plus feature series implemented in the CPC Core and an OCM (MSX) core that works without disk errors on new Mist hardware. I have to agree with you guys. We need to improve the implementatio...

Re: Genesis / Megadrive core ported to MiST

Device EP3C25E144C7 i think it's better to change to C8 part in project settings to help Quartus measure timings more correct. MiST uses C8 grade of FPGA. Well spotted! Yes, it is essential. Otherwise you might get a compile build and a timing analysis that targets a faster speed grade and might fa...
