Hello all, Buddy has a 1040ste - thing is mint.. looks barely used. Had stock PSU and was getting VERY HOT - after so much time, disk access and directories were getting messed up. We thought bad psu. So we swapped it out for an ATX wired up to fit the header. Power is not the issue. After a couple ...

Re: STEEM new user

OK, so the point was to be able to transfer items from the pc to the ST image. SO.. if I startup the STEEM with both shift keys down.. which in the MAgiC manual says is supposed to bypass magiC loading.. then I could get TOS to see the drive.. transfer the files.. reboot into magiC but the Gemdos dr...

Re: Best Practices - CosmosEX Mini

ACSI drives would be the microSD card on the microcosmos - It will not work without a driver on the card. ICD(never have been able to get it to work) PP driver or HDDriver. You said you were not using the microsd card only the network share. Thats why I asked.

Re: Best Practices - CosmosEX Mini

Hi, i also got my MicroCosmos these days. Its really tiny, now i wonder - is it compatible with a RaspberryPi zero? How do you folks mount it into your Atari? Or do you use it external? Mine runs externally just fine. I only used a mounted network drive sofar, also from my NAS which worked fine. I ...

Re: Best Practices - CosmosEX Mini

@DrWoo: Why don't you use FAT/FAT32 formatted USB sticks (translated mode on the CosmosEx) ? It works well. Avoid too much file in the same directory, and too much directory levels YES I am finding this now.. not sure I understand whats going on. SO I have been going through archives etc.. download...

Re: STEEM new user

Well, I installed the C++ runtime and no go. I still cannot get DD or D3D to load.. I will go back to earlier versions of SS edition and see where it breaks for me. James edit - Well I now know it is the age of the machine. This is a SSE and SSE2 processor, but I cannot go past 3.7 (special version)...

On a mature system.. one that you have been using for a while I am sure most people have that on it. This was a fresh XP install. I will get it installed. thanks for the help SS James

Re: STEEM new user

Ok, so now I am trying to run STEEM on an older system that I will use as a server for my ST and 8-bit. Also it has a floppy drive so I thought it would be a good one to use to transfer Floppys to images or the other way around. I can get 3.2 to run.. But so far every SSE version i try 32bit D3D or ...

Re: Inexpensive RTC just wire in?

LOL joska, so, buy the MonSTer card and defeat the point. OK, well it was a nice idea. I guess I will look at one of the other projects that are out there. As you said.. $2 for 2.. seemed to be too good to pass up and since so many other basic microprocessors can handle these I thought we might be a...

Re: Mega STE questions.

Sorry AtariZoll, not sure I understood that last line.. I did get a response back from both BEST and B&C yesterday.. B&C recommended I buy from BEST as they are better for parts than him. B&Cs response after I clarified that I am talking about an MEGA STE.. not a MEGA.. said 1. yes they ...

Re: Inexpensive RTC just wire in?

thanks so much Maeke, I was not putting that project down, except for the same thing you pointed out the those DS1315 which are the chips that were used in the DS1216 units.. are not cheap. Where as this I2C board is. joska, is that something you would have the expertise to do? I have not looked at ...

Dear Bikerbob; I have said it in our facebook group of Mega STe and I will also say it here: I have a German Mega STe and I have converted it into Spanish, I changed the TOS and therefore the keyboard configuration was automatically changed; now I can put a sticker on the keys that have been change...

Re: Mega STE questions.

2. Keyboard - I have confliciting reports that you can run a german keyboard on US TOS and it will just remap the keys. If I want the correct image on the keys I could put stickers, or replace the set with a US keycap set.. but the keyboard will work.. others not sure, some say that doing that will...
