Re: Installing the PAK68/3

Well I needed to get under U20 to do a trace cut.. not fun.. not easy with the tiny size of the holes on this board..

Heed the warning.. find a way without desoldering if you can.

Re: Falcon Mod Resurrection.

I have also started this on the facebook Falcon030 group, since there are no restrictions on pictures and videos. https://www.facebook.com/groups/296267227164633/1832633686861305 I have read back through the thread mpattonm - now that I have the scope, testing is much clearer. I have done everything...

So I have pulled the Falcon back out. I have my HANTEK scope I checked pin 23 of J16 and I am not getting 8mhz moving up to 16mhz and reset does not seem to be doing anything. I am getting the proper clocks at the oscillators. Screen is black. This is not really about getting the Phantom back and ru...

Re: Installing the PAK68/3

Winbond 27C010 are EEPROMs, so they can be reflashed. Thanks.. but I have determined that mine are still good.. which is good.. but also it means that so far we cannot find any reason why my PAK does not boot. Most people helping are now saying I need to send them the board.. This, of course, is Ge...

Re: Installing the PAK68/3

So I compared the U13 file in your uploaded ROMs - to the U13 Rom I have and they do not match. The Roms I have from Artur are marked IDE, so maybe they have an IDE patch built into them. I have saved the .bins of the roms I have.. though I think the WINBOND 27c010 I have not flash-able. they do not...

Re: Installing the PAK68/3

Apologies all, I just went back through this thread and realized that I had already posted this picture earlier. :( Was actually useful .. were any of the gals programmed specifically because you were using the Stacy? I might try programming all those files.. see what I get. I think a couple are di...

Re: Installing the PAK68/3

Here are some schematics - but I don't know if they will help. Did Pakman tell you to take the board to "safe" mode 'and see what would work there? He had me do that one time with my board, because it will bypass some things and rule them out. Yes Ron, unfortunately it was no help. After ...

Re: Installing the PAK68/3

yeah.. Artur said I should just use it as it was,, but yes Holger is who I am chatting with, and he suggested I update the roms to V52. My eprom programmer seems to be working fine.. I have reprogrammed them 4/5 times now. it is frustrating to say the least, I dont mind working out the issues, but g...

Rusty is mentioning that because of the super-uber long thread where I was working on my Pak board. :) (I'm Ronald, btw. Ronald J. Re: Installing the PAK68/3

I don't know who Ronald is? that's funny! Well, things have continued to move backwards.. I assume I have played and fiddled with things so much that I am now starting to do more damage than good. I can no longer get it to boot with just the PAK - I updated the GALs using my TL866cs - no bit lock - ...

23 months since accepting payments and still not shipping. Oh yeah.. but they are having a high quality assembly party in a living room with chips and beer, I see ESD mats and clean tables and quality control, because they kept the price of this so reasonable for everyone..... NO wait.. I am wrong....

frank.lukas wrote:... any progress in make pak/frak work?

Not anything better Frank, no.. SO I decided to do what Pakman suggested, update the GALs and start with just the PAK.

Updated.. put it in.. no boot to logo. :(

sigh.

Re: RTC megaST4

So.. I was not able to get it work without passing it through pin 2.. why?? no idea.. it SHOULD work off any ground.. but did not. I used pin 2 with a couple of wire now to the coin holder, and it seems to be working fine. (one thing on the machine anyway :) )

Re: RTC megaST4

If you have multimeter, check that D4 too. Or check, if there is a measurable voltage between pins 1 and 2 with no battery in. The diode may be in reverse or short and 5V PSU is killing the battery. Yep have a good MM with Diode check.. voltage in one direction, none in the other.. that part is fin...

RTC megaST4

Any reason why you cannot just change the std AA batteries for a 3v coin battery?

rtc battery mega.jpg

This is the circuit. Do I need to go positive to pin 1 and neg to pin 2.. or can I take neg direct to ground?

Re: Installing the PAK68/3

On the odd chance someone is reading this to do the same thing and did not know like me.. you also have to close 2 solder points on the board when you remove the blitter.

Me I of course did it the hard way :( lol...
