Re: STeem and MIDI under Windows

Hello, Is your Wavestation librarian also from EMC ? I am too planning to use STeem to replace my dying STEs since there are no Windows decent equivalent to softwares like Synthworks... Well, under the given circumstances I have decided to fix my ST and I have just purchased a complete edition of C...

Re: STeem and MIDI under Windows

Not familiar with any of Doesn't the Steem shortcut worK? No it's not really an option. If I may quote myself: Unfortunately the "Pause until next SysEx (MIDI)" isn´t an option in my case, because the MIDI transfer is initiated by the program. If I select "Receive from device", ...

Re: STeem and MIDI under Windows

I've done quite a bit of sequencer/editor programming with Steem - what exactly are you trying to do? Thanks for asking. I want to use the ATARI editors for my Wavestation, K4, M1 and D-20 again. Putting it politely, available windows equivalents do let me miss a certain degree of professionality a...

Re: STF Disk Drive error reading disks to the full

Yepp, that´s what I did and that´s what I´ll work with. As long as I can find enough DD disks that still work :)

Re: STeem and MIDI under Windows

I did some more digging and it appears that you have control over the input buffer under windows using the low level MME API. Sysex messages are of unlimited length, and after the initial $F0 it won't start to send until it receives the final $F7 - if it's a long message (such as a dump) your progra...

Re: STF Disk Drive error reading disks to the full

You can't use 1.44's on the ST without some hardware mods. Yes, I figured. I did read the relevant stickies here before opening the Topic to avoid ovious noobity :) But I just want to get this unit to work with a selected set of programs, so instead of going through all the hustle to fully upgrade ...

Re: STF Disk Drive error reading disks to the full

I found a Sony MFP520 in an old PC yesterday, set it to DS 0, hooked it up and now I can work with most of the disks again. So it does not appear to be the STs fault. What´s working perfectly is an original copyprotected 720kB disk from the 80s. With many other disks (which load fine on a reference ...

STF Disk Drive error reading disks to the full

Hello all, I was having a general problem with my ST suddenly powering up only the every now and then and also it would always say "Drive A: not responding". I then noticed that the PSU only made 10 and 3 volts, so I recapped it and now it is back to 12/5. Power-up now works like a charm a...

Re: STeem and MIDI under Windows

Thank you for these insights, stephen22! That explains alot! For example why it works with one of my programs, which apparently has a higher timeout value. Also it works for small dumps, e.g. a single program. Unfortunately the "Pause until next SysEx (MIDI)" isn´t an option in my case, be...

Re: C1 option freezes mouse

I tried again with STF Model and TOS 1.02 german and it seems to work when I set option C1 and do a warm reset. Mostly when C1 is set and a cold reset is performed, the mouse would not react any more. @exxos Nice to read that you´ve worked it out, but changing the subject to "C1 no Fuji" i...

Re: C1 option freezes mouse

Hi Steven, thanks, but no I didn´t miss it. To make sure any settings I make really apply I always perform a cold reset. Is that what we´re talking about here? What happens is: - Set Option C1 - Cold reset - Start - Click into Steem window -> Mouse doesn´t move! - Clear option C1 - Cold reset - Star...

I asked Steinberg about copies of their Synthworks line just recently and been told that they do not even have a archive to draw them from

C1 option freezes mouse

Hello all, whenever I try to use SSE option C1 the atari mouse doesn't work inside steem. I am having this issue in all STeem version under Windows XP, 8.1 and 10. I've done a search before posting here but did not find a similar post. Can anybody point me to what I might be doing wrong because appa...

STeem and MIDI under Windows

Hello everyone, first post on this forum, so hi all! I recently had two STFs break down on me with sudden floppy-A-does-not-respond errors. After a good clean of the drives didn´t help I tried my luck with STeem. My main goal is to use my good old synthesizer editor programs, so solid MIDI is my mai...
