Re: 2012 Atari monitor suggestions

Anyone tried a Grundig Vision 9 on the ST yet? I am considering purchasing a new TV set for my living room, and ST compatibility would be a definite plus.

Re: Games that was supposed to be good

I liked Starglider very much, as it was a) one of the few games that would run on my SM124 and b) had the right mixture of flight and fight (it is similar to Rescue on Fractalus in that respect). Once you mastered your AGAV, the game became tremendous fun (OK, it was repetitive after you learned to ...

Re: Atari XL-XE and software houses

The Atari XL/XE sold far less than the C64 here in Germany, but were about on par with the Speccy. Yet, from about 1983/84, hardly any new software came from across the Pond, Atari Deutschland dropped their software distribution around the same time and the native programming scene was small - YMMV,...

Re: Zeus68k – Accelerator/IDE/RAM for the ST/STE

Seems a nice idea.... the only thing lacking to make it an ultimate expansion would be an ET4000 FPGA emulation.

What bothers me most: will this fit into normal STe/STfm cases - esp. with the necessary PLCC/DIL adaptor needed for STes?

Re: Monitor question - modern or authentic?

Yes, any model capable of syncing from 15 to 30 kHz horizontally and 50 to 72 Hz vertically is cabaple of displaying all three resolutions and run both "PAL" and "NTSC" games. You only need a switchbox with a single input, a single output (OK, additional audio output would be nic...

Re: Monitor question - modern or authentic?

If you are able to find one, some Commodore and Acorn AKF (50?) monitors, along with the Eizo 9060S, NEC Multisync (original, GS, II and 3D) and Mitsubishi EUM models will even display all three resolutions (I use an EUM-1491A on my ST).

It would also be great if the producer fulfilled his order in chronological order. Most of those who paid first are still waiting for their SIDEs , while he has produced and shipped 129 units so far (or so he claims). I am one of those who sent their money to Sleepy (9th order on that list) to place...

Re: what physics games there are on the Atari?

The entire Esprit/Oxyd series uses physics excessively, from the speed of the marble being essential to not sink into mud (or even water) and to push stones e.g. in Sokoban-style levels to the limited control on ice and no control "in space" and the rubber band and gravity effects in some ...

Re: Atari Falcons - are they worth what they go for?

Well, to put it straight, I wouldn't pay the amount for them that they currently reach on eBay (even here in Germany, where they are obviously more common than in the rest of the world due to their major role in electronic music (i.e. Techno) in the mid-90s, prices are soaring), as they have even le...

I seriously believe the very best upgrade ever produced that interfaced on the 68000 bus.. was the PAK68/3, and FRAK2 & Panther2 boards. http://www.wrsonline.de/atari_index.html View with a decent online translator. babel fish etc. Massive speed, TOS improvements, and ability to add ISA type ca...

Re: My TT with New installation of CF card reader(updated)

I solved reliable writing with cartridge adapter CATA on Falcon. At least it is OK with Sandisk Ultra card. Must disabling CPU caches and using pretty different timing (in HW) than on ST(E). And it should mean that it will work on TT too (if CPU on TT really works at 16 MHz by memory access). Falco...

Idea peddling - ultimate ST expansion?

Considering the FPGA shifter thread, I was just thinking: what would an ultimate FPGA based expansion board have to contain to appeal to a large number of ST users? So far I've come up with the following - remembering classic expansion boards like the Multiboard and the HBS640T36: - SIMM slot - fast...

A/B drive switch for internal/external drives (STF/STE)?

Hello!

Is there a schematic for a working switch that changes the internal drive of the STF/STE to drive B: and the external one to drive A:? Considering the Shugart standard, this should be possible.

Regards,

Am I too stupid to patch AHDI for BigDOS?

Hello! After various tries to patch AHDI 6.061 for BigDOS (using the .BDF file provided and Binpatch Light 1.16 by Robert Federle), I need to ask for help here. I am unable to get a AHDIBIGD.PRG no matter what I do (I even tried a hex editor and changed the file names in the BDF from lower case to c...

Well, you're adding stuff to it is OK. But have you consider application clashing??? I mean that for HDD, you have HDDriver which already include cache. So turbo Cache will somewhat interfere or is rendered useless. Of course TCache only makes sense when you are using a hdd software without cache a...
