Re: Memory protection in MiNT reworked

Hmmm... It must be a change since 1.12 then as my TT has 68MB of RAM and memory protection works fine under the older kernels. I wonder if the page translation table was restructured.

Re: RPMint Distribution

Ah, I see the permissions on the files in the ftp.earth.ox.ac.uk anonymous FTP site had their permissions too strict (due to a security lock-down on all accounts last year). Thanks for pointing this out. Everything's available again now! Have a look in ftp://ftp.earth.ox.ac.uk/pub/mintos/

Re: RPMint Distribution

You could actually install all of the required stuff you want to execute in the mint.cnf but it seems a little... clumsy to me. Maybe clumsy, but it rarely has to be touched and speeds up booting a lot. It also simplifies things since you only need to run the things you actually need. You can do th...

Re: RPMint Distribution

init (8) will be slower than using the config file as it runs bash (or whichever shell /bin/sh is) which then interprets a shell script to run the programs. It then, after this complete successfully, starts up the getty(8) programs on the console (and any other ports you wish to have logins on), or ...

Re: Couple TT hardware questions (UltraSatan, TOM, and NetUSBee)

I've seen another post where people have had trouble with netusbee and the TT. I think it is down to motherboard revisions though. Also why set the clock from the ultrasatan anyway, the TT has its own clock. Not if there’s no battery. I need to find a replacement for it. I just put together a 4x AA...

Re: Couple TT hardware questions (UltraSatan, TOM, and NetUSBee)

My TT sometimes works with my NetUsbee, sometimes not. I find that if I plug another cartridge into the port, reboot with that. Remove that cart and reinstall the NetUsbee that it often will then work. My cartridge port is finicky in general though. I used to be able to use my Spectre GCR with my T...

Re: Couple TT hardware questions (UltraSatan, TOM, and NetUSBee)

I've a Jerry unit and I think that it draws too much power so the keyboard processor doesn't boot. If you plug it in after powering up the machine everything's fine.

The TT's VME interface doesn't support bus mastering, so no.

Re: MagiC/MagiCMacX source updated

The error that is described there has nothing to do with file locking. Being able to delete a directory that is in use, or a file that is open, should be normal behaviour of a filesystem. Incorrect. It's the normal behaviour for a fully POSIX compliant filesystem but that's about it. (This is able ...

Re: Lightning VME is here

I tried it with the USB enabled version of UIPtool under TOS, yes. There are drivers for STiNG and MiNT on the Lightning VME support floppy too. After finding that my old MiNT set-up doesn't work now that I have 68MB RAM I've installed the last EasyMiNT and added the latest MiNT kernel and now have...

Re: Lightning VME is here

Is anyone exposing the ports to the outside of the machine? I have a Mega STe that can use this, but I am concerned of where the ports would reach the outside of the computer and how it would look. Any Pics out there? At the moment I've got them poking out of the VME port at the back. I'm going to ...

Lightning VME + (original) Apple USB Ethernet interface = Works

I thought people would like to know that after testing Lightning VME with the original (100M bit) Apple USB ethernet dongle I can report that it works fine, at least with UIP. I now at last have a working ethernet on my TT!!! (NetUSBEE doesn't work with my TT) Seeing that these devices are readily a...

Re: TT030 VGA picture quality

Well, as soon as the web site came up on Monday I ordered and OSSC and it arrived today. I've so far managed to get a nice display, despite there being no instructions. However I've yet to find out how to stretch the display horizontally and centre it and also to shift the display down so that the t...

Re: TT030 VGA picture quality

Has anyone tried a VGA-HDMI adapter on a TT? Yes, it has the same problem as other devices which sample the signal at precisely the resolution it believes it should be (rather than sampling the scan line at double the frequency and then averaging pixels), i.e. is misses most of the data in the TT's...

Re: I just bought a TT030!

You can play games on the TT too, though only with the internal graphics adapter.

Petari has worked hard on systems and fixes to allow games to run from the hard disk, and many run on the TT too.

Re: SF314 models

There are a few variations of this drive. Some have standard Shugart floppy connection interfaces internally and some have custom connections. I've seen small button ones with either and large button (my first drive) which has the non-standard connector. They all have an interface board which holds ...
