Re: Atari and external SCSI

I also have acquired a Supra Atari HD, which came with a 105 Mb Quantum SCSI drive that was already formatted and loaded with Supra's utilities, so that it would boot. One of the utilities was a clock-setting routine. When I ran it I came to the conclusion that the Supra unit must have a RTC itself,...

Re: Megafile 30 configuration

Thanks for your replies. Following your directions I was able to add drives D and E. The desktop.inf file is saved to the C: drive so it persists on reboot.

Re: Atari and external SCSI

I agree; better to confine one topic to one thread. On another site, and a different topic, I once was "flamed" for responding to an old post. The post gave a link to some software utility I had been looking for (a Google search for the software was what led me to the site). I left a messa...

Re: Megafile 30 configuration

Thank you for this information: "You have to click and select one disk, then the ADD DISK option will be lighted, then you add the missing drive letters." This raises a related question: If I add the drives by the above process, where is that information stored? On the hard disk, a floppy ...

Re: Megafile 30 configuration

Recent progress using the HDD utility authored by Uwe Seimet. With the aid of the utility (demo version) I was able to install the hard disk driver, view the partitions and other disk info. The machine now boots with the Megafile and I am able to communicate with it. There are three 10.3 Mb partitio...

Re: Atari and external SCSI

Thanks to all who replied. "If you have a meter, measure for a short between the + pin on the power connector and (as seen in your picture) the upper left pin (pin 20) on the 74HCT245 IC next to it. There should also be a short between the - pin on the power connector and the lower right pin (p...

Atari and external SCSI

I wanted to be able to move software between the PCs, which have Internet access, and the Ataris, which do not. For other machines I am able to do this by means of an Iomega Zip drive using a SCSI interface. For that reason I purchased a SUPRA SCSI interface which is pictured below. I have done what...

SC1224V2 Monitor Qs

Just acquired another SC1224, sold untested. Label says Version 2; has a 13-pin DIN port but no cable was included with the purchase. Checked several of the hardware resources listed elsewhere on this site; so far nothing located. I have 13-pin male DIN plugs but DIY cable is a last resort. Anyone k...

Re: Monitor for Atari520ST

Short answer: Probably not. Depends on what the "digital monitor" actually is (manufacturer, specifications, etc.) but the Atari ST has a non-standard video output that is not likely to match your monitor's input. Even if you found a suitable cable the signals are likely to be incompatible...

Re: TOS: Now and When

Delighted to have your responses; thank you very much for your suggestions.

I'll opt for TOS 1.04 for now and see what I can do with it. Unfortunately my command of the German language is limited; I realize there is much that I am missing as a result.

TOS: Now and When

Very new to Atari workings so please pardon this most basic question: 1040 STf has six TOS ROM, numbered C062160-001 to C062165-001 (28 pins). I think these are 1.0 ROMs. Everything I have read says to replace them: Obviously the easiest solution is to burn another set (6x27C256?) with a higher vers...

Re: Megafile 30 configuration

I obtained the version of HD Install from the DE site and formatted a 720k disk on a PC then transferred the files to it. Because the MBR was not "bootable", when I started the ST with the disk in the drive the ST 4-bombed and rebooted - repeatedly. But when I booted from ROM and then inse...

Megafile 30 configuration

I recently acquired a 1040 STf. ROMs are TOS 1.0, so far as I can tell. With it came a Megafile 30. I have determined that both are operational and can communicate, at least ST to MF. The HD is not represented on the desktop when I boot from a floppy. I found hard disk utility HDX at the University ...

Re: Pardon me for asking...

Thank you both for your replies. I succeeded in opening the case and exposing the motherboard (pictures attached). Overall looks good: traces clean, no evidence of leaking caps or overheating. It's clear that repairs were made at some point in the past, however. I don't have a reference that shows m...

Pardon me for asking...

I'm noob and have only recently posted here but have three Ataris - two ST520s and one ST Mega 2 that I just acquired. I also have two SM and one SC monitors. The SC has a problem (overheating) but that's not the reason for this post. I read all the posts in the sub-forum and found a great deal of u...

I got my 5.25 disk from http://www.accurite.com. 3.5s available as well. You'll also need a dual-channel scope.
