Re: MISTer (Main Core)

Lately was noticing some jerky movement of mouse pointer in minimig core, I thought was due to recent changes to the core but found that ao486 core was showing same jerkyness. Reverting to old Mister_Main solved the issue, with butter smooth mouse movement. MiSTer_20191014 is the first framework tha...

Re: MISTer (Main Core)

With the MiSTer update of today I have rolling screen on RGB 15khz (not sync) in menu core. I am using a Sony PVM that had no problems in the past. It doesn't display the backdrop image as set for the scaler via RGB. EDIT: Found out that I needed to put mister.ini file in the root of SD Card, I used...

Re: HDMI video capture

Just bought an AverMedia Live Gamer Portable 2 Plus and I am unable to capture 50hz PAL footage, with 60hz NTSC seems OK, but as soon as I change refresh to PAL inside the core (like on Genesis or C64) the capture does not get signal. Which MiSTer settings are you using to capture? Which scaler is b...

Re: MiSTer on Commodore 1701 Monitor

Hi there, I'm wondering if it's possible to have a video output compatible with Commodore 1701, which would be either s-video or composite. So far my plan is IO Board VGA and this adapter. https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=2509 Would this work? If you have any other suggestions for minimal lag...

After the latest core update sometimes I loose sound on NeoGeo, this happens if I load a rom after another, or loading the NeoGeo core after other core. It solves doing a cold reboot. I am using toslink sound output

Re: MSX core

Noticed that in Invasion of the Zombie Monsters game the drum channel during intro does not sound, in mist version of msx core sound is OK. Maybe a problem with channel volume? Other games like Goonies 'R' good Enough also exhibit weird sound. This problem was present in older versions of the core, ...

Re: Custom Video Modes Test Thread

In order to have menu core at 640x240@60hz I created a custom resolution, I paste here what you have to append to mister.ini:
[Menu]
video_mode=640,8,58,78,240,1,3,18,12324
vga_scaler=1
vsync_adjust=2
vscale_mode=0

Re: Custom Video Modes Test Thread

Anybody got working modes for 240p and 480i? 240p requires a custom build of the mister binary because they have pixel clocks around 6mhz and mister doesn't allow pizel clocks under 20mhz by default. With a custom mister build, 240p modes work fine. I use one for gameboy on my crt tv. I haven't mad...

Re: MISTer (Main Core)

If I enable VGA scaler at let's say custom resolution of 640x240 @60hz as I use a 15khz monitor, all the cores would be scaled to this resolution? This is what I want to avoid, and why I use 15khz, to use native resolution of the core bypassing the scaler. Would not be easier to put an option on men...

Re: MISTer (Main Core)

I am using MiSTer mostly attached to a 15khz monitor through VGA to BNC. Before framebuffer update when you left menu still for some time screen dimmed to prevent burns of the monitor. Nowadays if I config fb_terminal=1 after 30 seconds OSD disappears and after that screen dims, perfect. The problem...

Re: ZX Spectrum Core

Playing with the Spectrum core I found that I cannot use it as a pure 48k machine. If I select memory = Spectrum 48k it hangs or black screen when launching core. All other memory options like 128k, Pentagon, etc work.

Yes I knew both cores were yours but I thought someone updated T80 core for MiST, now I understand the errors are not related to CPU core.

Re: ZX Spectrum Core

Doing some CPU tests the ZX Spectrum core on MiST seems more accurate than on MiSTer which I don't understand as I thought they are basically the same core. Using ZXtest program, on MiSTer it fails 9 of 152 tests, on MiST it only fails 2 of 152. Maybe updating T80 core from MiST to MiSTer will solve...

Re: Genesis Core

Tried this release of the Genesis core and still shows 8 errors in VDP FIFO Testing, MiST core shows right now only 1 error. The errors are DMA based, could this be sorted on MiSTer?

Re: VGA to BNC for PVM monitor

Not positive that will work. Many cores don't have CSYNC. I have a 5xBNC (seperate H and V sync) and I have a coupler to combine them. This seems to work with all cores... I also have a 5xBNC cable and I don't need to combine the sync cables, just connect the grey one and it works. The black one yo...

Re: MISTer (Main Core)

Just updated MiSTer from update script like always (Linux + MiSTer + Menu), everything seemed smooth but now from menu doesn't enter screensaver mode darkening the screen, also core selection doesn't hide like it should in newest version.

Re: Genesis Core

I got MiST and MiSTer, just ran VDP FIFO test on both FPGAs and MiST passes 115/122 of the test and MiSTer only 110/122 so MiST core seems more advanced, maybe it is possible to adapt to MiSTer the changes.

Re: BBC Micro

VGA out on the BBC Micro core has a jiggling effect for me I've captured it here bit can't upload it because of the 500KB limit, but I can share if needed. I don't have this with any other core and it's the same no matter what software I load on the BBC. I have the same jiggling/vibration on screen...

I have noticed that running Batman Forever Demo from a zipped folder sounds weird and loads kinda slow. Loading from a uncompresed DSK works OK. Is there a problem running software inside zipped folders?
