Re: RTC board

Maybe it was just a matter of space utilization on the board / cost reduction? The RPi doesn't have an RTC either.
The DE10 is small enough for mobile devices, maybe the accelerometer could be used as controller?

Re: Core porting questions

So I recreated the PLL and I wired the video output to emu. I get a VGA video signal now but... it is blank. At least it is roughly in range; it wasn't when I first used the original PLL. Do I need to do something to get the OSD to respond (i.e. wire it sonewhere) Or if it doesn't, do I have somethi...

Re: Core porting questions

Thanks, I can compile now but I get a blank screen in VGA. I guess I need to assign the VGA signals as well? eg. assign VGA_R = video_r; Also I guess I will need to change PLL settings for Clock50 instead of Clock27. I found a section with things like "27929 ps" which I think are timing re...

Re: Core porting questions

I managed to remap a few things, but how are we supposed to port OSD functions? ⋅ I suppose the video_ and VGA_ will go into "emu"? ⋅ Also does the SPI needs changing into something else? // include the on screen display osd #(16,0,4) osd ( .pclk ( clk32 ), // spi for O...

If I read that correctly, it means the original/DB9 mice are not supported, and USB will only drive a single mouse.

Core porting questions

Does anybody know what this error means? Error (12006): Node instance "cpu" instantiates undefined entity "GBse" I think I've included all files (gameboy core, this one is from gb.v). The error is also confusing because I'd expect "GBse" is the name, and cpu the object/...

Re: I/O Board thread

I spy a battery slot at the bottom. Is that for an RTC?

Also I wonder if you could make the board slightly longer so it can be screwed to the other side as well? Its purely esthetic so I suppose you have your reasons not to... (cheaper?)

Re: I/O Board thread

For the sake of backwards compatibility, how about reserving those pins now? That needs no work other thab a decision. ;) MIDI is a very cool use of FPGA (IMHO) especially since the ST was very famous with musicians. RS232 could also help communicate with older hardware (and is also present on MiST ...

Re: How actively are you using your MiST?

OFFTOPIC: Last week I ordered a GBS 8200 upscaler from China (was temptated by the low price), as arrives will test it especially in aspect of non-standard (i.e. PAL) output cores and make some screenshots. It's a good option to stabilize the VGA signal on the cheap, bit not that good with 50hz (PA...

Re: How actively are you using your MiST?

Any devs interested in revisiting the NES core? I did a lot of testing on the NES core (800+ games) and provided as much support + docs as I could when a core developer (sebdel) was willing to work on the HDL... but sadly he ran out of free time for it and we had to stop. The biggest problems right ...

Re: I/O Board thread

I was thinking that for a USB hub it might be better to have an external board that can be mounted on a case, plugging to the DE10 with a single OTG cable. In fact these kind of extensions would protect the longevity of connectors on the DE10 board, but at the cost of making the overall build more e...

If you make it a full size SD card, we can probably reuse the MiST cards? (ignoring any rbf in it, or maybe checking for "core_mister.rbf")

Re: Mist 1.3 question

I don't think so. The striping you refer to has to do with video timings and is specific per core. Some LCDs have settings to adjust it a bit, otherse one cheap-ish solution I found was to use an arcade video upscaler (even if leaving at 480p resolution) as it smooths the image. Here's a comparison:...

Re: MiSTer: MiST on Terasic DE10-nano board.

Isn't the separate topic for the MiST version of it? Otherwise it gets drowned in MiSTer discussion?

Perhaps we should update the MiST wiki to flag which cores are on both and which ones are MiSTer only (and also which ones can't be ported to MiST)

Re: MiSTer: MiST on Terasic DE10-nano board.

Is it me, or are the ZX Spectrum and Sam Coupe core are missing sound via HDMI? Genesis core works fine though. why i should release the cores without HDMI audio? It's odd, it works fine on the TV but my capture card doesn't seem to like the audio on them. If there's anything different compared to ...
