Re: Prices of Amiga and Atari

The default Commodore icons was not exactly an artistic achievement but I personally think Workbench with MagicWB installed looks very nice, even to this day - and it was almost the default look back in the 90:s since everyone I knew back then used it! And I agree that it's silly too complain about ...

Re: Prices of Amiga and Atari

When you say blue and orange color scheme, that means you're talking about Workbench 1.x and not 2.x or newer. The color scheme was changed to a gray and blue one. I personally think Workbench 1.x is quite bad, even if it has it's own charm but 2.x really added a lot of features and 3.1 (which was t...

Re: Amiga forum

I have been a member of the Amiga community for a long time and I'd also recommend EAB (English Amiga Board). I think it's the most sane amiga-forum by far.

amiga.org has been horrible for a long time IMHO

Re: Apollo Team announces developing of Vampire standalone version to run as AMIGA and ATARI ST

I'm really looking forward to the Vampire. I couldn't care less if it can't run demos or some games. I know it can't. but on Amiga it RUN all demos and games! otherwise you have point: TT, Falcon already break compatibility. btw now I thinking - is it really necessary to re-create ST MMU or GLUE in...

Re: Any 'console quality' Sega and Capcom conversions ?

Other good arcade conversions are New Zealand Story, S.D.I. and Parasol Stars. Monster Business, though not an arcade conversion, is arcade style. This might be nitpicking, but Parasol Stars wasn't an arcade game! It was developed for the PC-Engine/TurboGrafx16. It definitely feels like an arcade-g...

Re: New swedish Retro-computing BBS

I agree that it would be great if the BBS was in English, but it's running on my favourite BBS-systems from back in the day - NiKom - and NiKom is only available in swedish. Fortunately it has resumed development again after some 17 years and is now on github - so hopefully there will be an english ...

New swedish Retro-computing BBS

Hi all, I hope this is the correct forum for stuff like this, if not please move it to correct one! I just wanted to do some shameless promotion for my Telnet-BBS that I'm currently working on. It is running on an Amiga but I want it to focus on all retro-computing (and gaming) platforms that was po...

Re: Mega ST crashes with 2 bombs

What harddrive driver you are using? Are you try others? I'm using ICD Pro now with my Ultrasatan, I have no idea what driver the old harddrive was using unfortunately. As you say its heat-related, a short circuit can cause the heat to arise(also check to see how hot the DMA chip gets). Good luck b...

Re: Mega ST crashes with 2 bombs

Unfortunately I don't have any other power supply, I don't really think that the power supply is the problem since the old harddrive was powered by an external power supply, but I guess it still could be the power supply that is at fault. Will have to dig deeper into that. And yep, I have pressed on...

Mega ST crashes with 2 bombs

Giving this another try with a dedicated thread. I have an Atari Mega ST 2 that is upgraded to 4MB RAM. When I got it - it was fitted with an old ACSI/SCSI-drive. When I actually started using the machine just a few months ago (have had it for many years hidden away in a closet, horrible I know) I n...

Re: New to Atari

It says "regular floppy disk drive power connector ( 5V needed only)" on lothareks page so I don't think that should be an issue. (I also noticed it said 7V on Jookies Ultrasatan page - but I'm guessing it's a different design?)

Re: New to Atari

Yeah, the Ultrasatan is powered by the internal PSU, I had a friend help me install this thing (since I'm really bad when it comes to electronics) and we took 5V from the 6 pin-connector on the motherboard. Is the DMA chip only used by peripherals connected via ACSI and are there any tests that can ...

Re: New to Atari

I'm back again with more problems :/ I bought and installed a Ultrasatan and managed to get it up and running with ICDpro, but unfortunately it seems like the machine is unstable with this aswell, so there seems to be some problem somewhere whenever the ACSI is used. It ran perfectly stable for quit...

Re: New to Atari

Okay, false alarm!

It works, I have two scart-sockets on my TV, and only one takes RGB signals.

Finally I can test some games! :)

Re: New to Atari

Today I got the RGB Scart cable I ordered, but unfortunately I don't get any picture with it, I can hear sounds however. Before I open the cable and check all connections I just wanted to ask, does the Mega ST2 have RGB out on the monitor port? From the information I have been able to gather I under...

Re: RaspARI - an ATARI in credit-card format

Okay, I just tried this and it felt very fast, but I haven't really tried anything yet except for what you get without a "harddrive" attached. Is there anyway to get the bundled EmuTOS into english?

Re: RaspARI - an ATARI in credit-card format

Wow! I love these kind of projects! Gonna try this out on my Raspberry right now! Are there any plans to emulate more of the Atari hardware in the future? Perhaps make it possible to run games and "hardware-banging" stuff? *edit* I should learn to read, just noticed that you said the goal ...

Re: New to Atari

I'm more afraid it's the atari itself that is beginning to die, but since it seems to run stable when the harddrive is turned off I'm not too worried. If it has been running for 15-20 minutes with the harddrive powered on it starts crashing (shows bombs on the screen) at random places, even if I'm r...

Re: The Obligatory 'Introduce Yourself Thread'...

Hello all! I might aswell introduce myself even though I have already made a thread about my Mega ST2 :) I'm a guy from Sweden who loves retro computers and gaming consoles. When it comes to retro computers I have quite a few Amigas and C64:s and know these systems very well, but Atari is something ...

Re: New to Atari

Hi and thank you for the reply. Actually the harddrive has an external PSU (I didn't know the machine had a harddrive before I opened it up and saw it, same thing with the RAM, lot's of chips piggybacked on the original RAM-chips :). A friend of mine helped me get the harddrive running with a extern...

New to Atari

Hello everyone! Many many years ago I picked up an Atari Mega ST2 with a monochrome monitor for cheap, and I have been meaning to delve deeper into the machine ever since, but have never gotten around to it. But I thought I would start now! :) I found out that this Atari is actually expanded too 4MB...
