How can I split a ROM file?

So in the near future I should come in posession of 2 28 pin EPROMs that I have been told are flashable. I would like to pop in some TOS versions right into my machine without having to do any soldering like I do with 32 pin chips. But my question is how do I split a TOS ROM file in to Hi and Low? I...

Re: Latest Firmware Kills my CosmosEx

Ok, I am glad that it's not just me. Maybe there is something with an older pi then, since others aren't getting the same issue. We'll see what Jookie has to say. And ggn, if you need it I have a image saved with a Jessie image. It has everything minus the two updates in 2018. If you'd want it, PM me.

Re: Latest Firmware Kills my CosmosEx

Well isn't that strange? The newest firmware is working using the Yocto SDcard image but it brakes using the Jessie image. I know I own a Pi Model 2 B, but I was instructed a long time ago to change it to Jessie because it was made for my Pi model. Now I have it upgraded and the USB ports are workin...

Re: Latest Firmware Kills my CosmosEx

That's a very bold statement. All the firmware does is to either communicate with Atari (custom ICs - Hanz/Franz) or provide an user-space application to the underlying Linux OS. It doesn't know anything specific about USB ports or any other RPi hardware. I don't what else it could be. I have my fi...

Latest Firmware Kills my CosmosEx

Hey guys. So this last weekend I decided to try the newest firmware posted last year. I updated it and I instantly lost my mouse. Looking at the problem further, I discovered that it killed my self powered USB hub I had plugged into it, so that killed my USB thumbstick, mouse and wifi. After looking...

Re: Not running on my STFM

1. Both my STF and STFM are TOS 1.02. My STF was originally 1.00 so I had to upgrade the machine to get it to work properly. Do you think I need to have my STFM at 1.04 for it to work? 2. Yeah you have to wait until the CosomsEx orange lights turn off, blinks a blue light, then nothing. Also the aud...

Not running on my STFM

Hey guys. So I bought a STFM last week and I wanted it to house my CosmosEx v1.0. I have it working great on my STF (with Main version 2017-4-13, when I upgrade things just fail, but thats the start of another thread). I'm using Raspian as the linux framework. When I plug it all in, I can never get ...

Re: CosmosEx Raspian software with mouse problem

Solved this problem, as it wasn't a problem at all. As I said that the mouse sensitivity was way floatyer going from Yacto to Raspian. But I just bought a read Atari mouse for the first time in forever, and found that it was floaty. That the Raspian is closer to real emulation than Yacto. So it wasn...

Re: RGB to HDMI does this work with a ST

Hey ho guys. So I can talk a little about the SCART to HDMI converter that you bought. That box has to be open source, because I have bought two of those things and all of the inners were completely different. Below is a post I made demonstrating a mod I needed to make to make RGB work with the conv...

CosmosEx Raspian software with mouse problem

Hey guys. I just updated my Pi software to the Raspian CE software. I have a first generation CE, but it still worked fine. I have noticed a slight difference though. When I use a wireless mouse, the mouse seems to have more of a floaty motion that I didn't notice under the Yacto software. But when ...

Re: CosmosEx and Bluetooth PS3 Controller

Yeah your right, I was using the Yocto version. I got out the SDcard and got Raspian (working with Jessie) CE working. But I still am stuck at the point where I don't know how to pair with the bluetooth dongle. I have found these articles listed below but all of them seems to have some error message...

Re: CosmosEx and Bluetooth PS3 Controller

I have a old model (CosmosEx first sold model) B with two USB ports. It doesn't have bluetooth installed internally. And sorry I misspoke. All instructions online are for Retropie installations. There are these videos that explain how to download specific drivers that are required to download. https...

CosmosEx and Bluetooth PS3 Controller

Hey guys. So I have been doing some looking into connecting a PS3 controller to a bluetooth dongle with a Raspberry Pi Model B. The controller works when I plug it in with a USB cable, but I am wondering if it would work with a bluetooth dongle I stole from my PC. The instructions says that it works...

Re: Anyone getting bombs with Automation floppy disk emulation?

Oh don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. My CE is like a miracle inside my ST. It just took me quite some time to figure out how to mod the larger EPROM chips that you can buy off of ebay. But I know how to do it now, so it should be a simple upgrade :-)

Awww man, upgrade? I already upgraded my STF from 1.00 to 1.02. *sigh* Well I've done it before, I guess I can do it again. In the mean time though, I can enjoy my almost fully working CosmosEx :D

Re: Anyone getting bombs with Automation floppy disk emulation?

I've done a bit more looking into my situation. I do believe that I don't have enough operating RAM to run my CosmosEx. I downloaded a Pompey Pirate disk (101) with Knights of the Sky. When loading the disk with my ACSI plugged in, once loading CD_DD and the other not. I get a message that theres no...

Re: Anyone getting bombs with Automation floppy disk emulation?

Ha ha ha, I didn't know there was any other way to do things but cleanly :) Well alright, I did some more testing and found some things. But first, here are some stats. I have a 1040STF with TOS 1.02 running. Not my original TOS, but I did some wiring to make the chips all work. As for my RAM I have...

Anyone getting bombs with Automation floppy disk emulation?

Hey guys. So I just got my wifi working recently, so I started downloading games through the floppy emulation software. I have downloaded about 10 or so zip files on my USB thumb drive. But every one I mounted would not load properly. I either get three to four bombs, with sometime getting a few mor...

Re: WiFi setup

I just wanted to add a comment to this subject. I have had trouble getting wifi to work since I've owned my CosmosEx. I have left my wifi open since I have installed my router, and a person on a board suggested that I implement a password. Sure enough, after I implemented it, put it into the Network...

Re: New transparent CosmosEx case for 3D printing

Ahhh, so here is an interesting question for Jookie. I have the first version of the CosmosEx, using Pi version Model B. With this latest revision it is using Model B+ and adding on two more USB ports, which would be handy. Could I take out the boards in my original case, print this cool case out, b...

Good to know that its making progress. And when I said facebook, I meant the m.facebook.com. I would think that the text based site would be easy on the Pi. No facebook live though, not by a long shot.

Web browsing with CosmosEx?

Hey guys. Since our Raspberry Pi is connected to the Internet and all, I was wondering if there was a way to browse the Web on our STs. Nothing complicated like HTML5, but easy stuff like e-mail, facebook, twitter, atari-fourm. Is it possible? Thanks.
