Nope, took the archives I shared and copied the files back to the Falcon and I still don't get a disk request.

Re: Crown of Creation 1.4 (and other findings)

Nope, it doesn't. Only when I replace MKN.COC with the old unmodified version.

Would be great if someone with a Falcon with empty NVRAM battery could check the archive. :)

Re: Crown of Creation 1.4 (and other findings)

Ok, just checked it again today. No request for a disk.

Could my f*#cked up NVRAM/RTC have anything to do with it?

Re: Crown of Creation 1.4 (and other findings)

Ah okay. I already thought that it can't be that simple. :)

It's still interesting how CoC decided to no longer ask for the disk on my system.
Maybe it put a reminder for itself some place else?

Re: Crown of Creation 1.4 (and other findings)

@marcer: well only if the game indeed "deprotected" itself. Did you try it on your Falcon? @mikro: Yeah, it's a copy of my hard disk folder. Had to split it in two as the attachment was apparently too big. But the contents of both zips should be in the same folder. :) Can't remember how I ...

Crown of Creation 1.4 (and other findings)

Hey there, while spending some time with my Falcon today I gave Crown of Creation another go (after literally decades). And I noticed that I had version 1.4 installed. Which is probably of interest to some, given that only version 1.3 is floating around the net at the moment? But then I also noticed...

Re: Conquest of Elysium 1.3 Full

I just recently emailed the author asking for v1.3.

Unfortunately he no longer has the Atari versions at hand.

Anyone else had any luck getting version 1.3 in the meantime? Or 1.2? :)

SOLD: Original CT60

Here is an odd find. I always thought my CT60 got lost while moving places ages ago. Now it just resurfaced in a kitchen appliance box. :D Anyway, I'm happy with my Falcons as they are nowadays, so I don't intend to install it. Basically good as new as it always sat hidden in that box. It's one of t...

For sale: C-Lab Falcon MKX

Hey,

I’m thinning out my Falcon collection a bit.

So here’s a C-Lab Falcon MKX up for sale. Had been tucked away the past 15 years. Works fine. Internal SCSI HDD had been removed back then, so comes without HDD.

Re: Quake 2 on Falcon030

Well, 320 x (up to) 160 with chunky columns actually sounds pretty nice. Would certainly give a nice widescreen flair. Could work great with some scenery. :) As always, great fun hearing about your thoughts/ideas/progress.

Re: Bad Mood : Falcon030 'Doom'

Great to hear you still find ways to optimize this engine.:) Unfortunately I can't get this one to run on my Falcon. I goes to a black screen with a disk icon in the upper left corner and from there nothing happens anymore. The last other version I tested (0.32) works well with the same installation...

Re: Quake 2 on Falcon030

Fantastic progress on the engine! :) I'm always looking forward to your updates. I expect the current Q2 engine could render BM scenery much faster than BM can (flat filled at least!) just because the visibility pipeline is a lot better and doesn't involve any flip-flopping during intensive work ste...

Re: Bad Mood : Falcon030 'Doom'

I was wondering, whether using a specific art style for maps could have a positive effect on performance. Specifically, what if you created Noir-style (i.e. Sin City) maps? Would a greyscale version of the engine be significantly faster? Or a comic styled map with textures that only have a handful o...

Re: Bad Mood : Falcon030 'Doom'

You can launch BM with the following additional arguments, to get around that: That did the trick. Thanks! As for adding completely new TC textures - the primary method is to just place 8bit versions of the graphic patches into the PWAD so plain DOS Doom could use them, but to supply 'overload' ver...

Re: Bad Mood : Falcon030 'Doom'

Out of curiosity I started dabbling a bit with Doom Builder. So I created a super basic map and saved it into the BMT1.WAD, just to see how things work. Bad Mood played the map just fine, after 30 minutes, as BM decided to completely rebuilt the WAD cache including all the music tracks. And whenever...
