Re: Minimig (Amiga) core discussion

being non-stop user from 1993 you should be very familiar with Amiga HW internals :) So why don't try to improve the core by yourself? No one born with HDL knowledge. Heh, it would have been great, in my former life. Impossible now sadly due to several reasons I won't state here as it's a public co...

Re: Minimig (Amiga) core discussion

Hi ! In the first post of this page (http://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=117&t=32761&start=475) Mike mentions the M68K soft 020 core "which is a tidy up of" TG68K and supposedly fixes quite a few issues (like the Pinball Illusions crash I guess). Would anyone be willing to i...

Re: Monitors supporting vsync_adjust=2

@jayp76 : does it work with 50 Hz cores too ? Just asking because it seemed to work properly with my BenQ W1060 projector (even 50 Hz Megadrive) until I tried the Amiga core where it worked for a couple of seconds then switched between several modes constantly (the projector displayed alternatively ...

Re: [Dumb user] Freesync support ?! :-)

Is there somewhere a list of monitors properly supporting the tear-free low lag mode (vsync_adjust=2) ?

If not, may I create a thread to ask users about it ?

Re: how do i remap f12?

Sure :-) Maybe a combination of keys could be used to remap Enter ? Well, anyway, maybe I'm the only one looking for this :D

Re: how do i remap f12?

Enter and Esc keys cannot be remapped. They are supposed to be present on all keyboards... Ah, I understand. Actually it's pretty useful when emulating computers and mapping useful games keys on the gamepad (or in my case arcade buttons). For instance, pinball games usually use both shift keys, F1,...

Re: how do i remap f12?

(BTW, as ENTER confirms the remapping, is it possible to remap the ENTER key ? Would be useful for Slam Tilt (Amiga) for instance, the ENTER key has to be hit at specific times to trigger actions --- using the MiSTer in an arcade cabinet with flipper button).

Re: [Dumb user] Freesync support ?! :-)

[BTW, Freesync is getting kinda standard now, even Nvidia is beginning to support it (in addition or instead of ? G-Sync) ; and it's present on tons of new cheap monitors.]

Re: [Dumb user] Freesync support ?! :-)

I think it should be possible. But at Sorgelig pointed out, MiSTer can already do that, at least on most cases, without Freesync.

Hmm, so it's possible to get a tear-free picture in single buffering on a standard screen ?

Re: Minimig (Amiga) core discussion

Currently there is only one open source alternative 68K implementation - it's FX68K. It doesn't support 68020 mode, so it's not suitable for Minimig. Ah, I must have overlooked some important bits of information, my bad. I thought JimDrew referred to one (not public yet) and there was some ambiguou...

Re: Minimig (Amiga) core discussion

BTW, just wondering, is there somewhere an experimental build of the Minimig core with the TG68 replaced by some other 68k implementation, as I heard there are 2 or 3 of them being worked on ? :-)

Re: [Dumb user] Freesync support ?! :-)

As I understand it means a variable refresh rate by adjusting the vertical blank.

Yep ; but I wonder if it enables to use a single buffer and keep a tear-free display ? (which would lead to a significant input delay decrease)

Re: [Dumb user] Freesync support ?! :-)

Ah OK, I thought it was to make it possible to get a tear-free display with VSync off, which means the buffer swap could happen at an arbitrary time. Hmm, OK then, if there is a buffer swap, it's still a double buffering, so freesync + single buffering makes no sense ?

I'm probably mixing stuff...

[Dumb user] Freesync support ?! :-)

Hi ! Here's yet another post from a clueless spoilt-user... Does it make any sense to ask if the low-lag mode (single buffered I guess) could theoretically play along with the FreeSync feature of recent monitors in order to reduce input lag even more ? I made a quick search on the forum and saw no m...

Re: filter/scaling supereagle implementation

Oops, the filter built-in the NES core is actually "HQ2X". Core is available, it's open source. The original author is probably specified in it. Of course it's far from what we can get with the other aforementioned filters but that's better that nothing ! Of course, all those are processed...

Re: filter/scaling supereagle implementation

I'm no FPGA dev, but I'm pretty sure this cannot be achieved yet ! A similar effect is implemented in the NES core if I'm not mistaken though (super2xsai ?). My personal favorite is a combination of an xbr-like (or scalefx) effect and CRT/scanline effect. It'll be a dream come true when it can be ac...

HDMI audio : monitor has to be switched off then on

Hi ! I'm really sorry if this bug was reported before. I made a search on the forum. When using the MiSTer with a Iiyama HDMI monitor (quite a few years old), in HDMI mode, I noticed that I frequently have no sound. Sound gets back when turning the monitor off and on. It happens frequently from the ...

Hi everyone ! Any knows if Rok Krajnc is still around ? Would he be interested to carry on development if someone donated a board to him ? He did some great job a couple years back, it's sad his efforts seem unfinished to close to perfection :)

I'm sure he could set up a Patreon ;)
