Re: What was the first game you played on your ST?

Roadwars. It was part of the pack I got with the computer (Evesham Micros one). Had a quick blast and then on to the next.

Sorry. Yeah.. I've not been here in forever.

I keep meaning to have a run through and update it, but my spare time is incredibly limited these days.. :(

Re: A long shot... The Terminator II script on the ST

Never had the disk, but the scene you mentioned (with the Terminator's read/write switch) was in the movie, but removed from the UK (maybe European) cinematic cut. It was in the North American cinema release (I believe) and was restored in various home-release directors' cuts of the movie in Europe....

Re: Documentary on UK Software Industry - Kickstarter

So they met their Kickstarter goal within the first week.. Now their long-term projection is to get up to £100,000 before the Kickstarter ends (42 days).. They reckon that if they get up to that level, everyone who's pledged to get a DVD or Blu-Ray copy of the film will be upgraded to the extended e...

Re: Documentary on UK Software Industry - Kickstarter

That looks interesting. I wonder if we could hope that some mention of Atari might be in it? :) TBH I think it would be limited if it does come up, although the promo says they're taking it from the late 70s into the 90s, so it's likely to be mentioned.. It'll most probably put most of its focus on...

Documentary on UK Software Industry - Kickstarter

Thought you guys might be interested in this - came up on my FaceBook Newsfeed, endorsed by Mel Croucher (of Automata fame) From Bedrooms to Billions Click on the link to go to the Kickstarter page - already £7,668 pledged towards their £18,000 goal and 57 days to go.. 'From Bedrooms to Billions' is...

Re: Games that was supposed to be good

Afterburner. I hate it. The arcade game was crap. The conversion of the Arcade game was OK in terms of a conversion, but crap in terms of a game. It's totally mindless. You fly in a straight line blowing poo up. You could level this at plenty of older 2D shooters, but they're still fun when you take...

Try pressing the spacebar or mouse button (even the right one). Had seen those cracktros on the games I got with Amiga Forever... First thing I did. The Fury (Martech)

Just wondering if this ever got an ST release? I had it on the Speccy back in the day, and it was quite a fun little game. I wanted to check out a 16-bit version to see what had been done with it. PlanetEmu only had 8-bit versions and the Amiga version. I tried both of the Amiga versions they're hos...

HotShot has an attract mode... Actually if you don't start the game manually, it starts itself with two computer players..

Polarity shift on forum..

I've noticed that the forum seems a lot more active these days (which is great! :D ) but the focus seems to have shifted away from mainly ST gaming and general chat to hard-core techie stuff. I find the techie things fairly interesting, but I'm not that heavily invested in electronics projects in my...

Re: Favourite Games!

Been playing RanaRama recently - it's still surprisingly addictive - probably because it includes some of my favorite elements of 'Quazatron', like grappling more powerful enemies (wizards in RR) to steal their upgrades (runes in RR) and implement them into your character - but then you have to deal...

A new skin might be nice, but not essential. I'm unsure as to what new features you could add, but I'd be interested to see the results.

Re: Best 3D ST games??

Sherman M4 and Team Yankee were good tank simulators. The 'Mercenary' games were pretty good sandbox games too - 'Escape From Targ' and 'The Second City' look dated now as they were basically ported from the 8-bit originals and are just wire-frame 3D, but 'Mercenary II - Damocles' and Mercenary III ...

Spy Hunter was an arcade game from 1983, which got an official conversion on the 8-bit platforms.. Major Motion was an unofficial version made for the ST & Amiga by Microdeal. Although, when you say a red car, you might be talking about Action Fighter . (You start as a motorbike, but become a c...

Re: what physics games there are on the Atari?

What about Atomix? It doesn't feature any game physics but is about physics. Well, it's chemistry really. And Joust deserves a mention. The feeling of inertia is great, especially when combined with the wing flap mechanics. I guess Elite is pretty physics-heavy too - matching your spin to th...
