Re: Contra style games for ST?

Given how many 8 bit formats it appeared on, would it not be easy enough to port to the st and update the graphics and music, say from the Amstrad or game boy? I always wanted a good green beret port too! Fireforce is kind of similar btw. In a funny way, so are robocop 1 and 2, although with less ju...

Re: Cracking for people with no real coding experience

Good stuff folks - glad I wasn't alone in figuring out stuff for myself :D The code wheel seems to be more about style than substance - do up something that looks complex to please the publisher / top brass, and then blame those devilishly clever hackers for bypassing it, when in reality they knew a...

Re: Gobliiins 1 - exe worked on pc

I know the copy protection was the same data file in gobliiins as theversion i was using was st cracked (by cynix maybe) and the protection had been cracked on the pc too. I accept if it was in the programme file it would be different, but that one at least wasn't :)

Re: Gobliiins 1 - exe worked on pc

Sounds like it was a very french thing to do as all those examples emanate from France. How odd! Interestingly one of the consequences of using a common data file was the cracked st version was automatically cracked for the pc - so you cracked the game on 2 types of computer simultaneously and witho...

Re: Gobliiins 1 - exe worked on pc

It is just that they used file extension exe, from some irrelevant reason. It will not work on PC. Executable for Atari ST will not work even on Amiga, which has same CPU. On dual format floppies for game data may be common, and part of executable too - but then must branch when some machine specif...

Cracking for people with no real coding experience

So back in the day the people who had loads of programming experience and knowledge would have been very clever in running battles with Rob Northen and others who were profesionally charging for proteciton software and routines. For a young teenager like me, that was all way above my head. But I fig...

Gobliiins 1 - exe worked on pc

Apologies in advance as I am not a techie but a problem solver - so I don't necessarily understand things in depth but I see things and quesiton them to find solutions - I was always like this, especially as a kid, and I remember one thing I always wondered about was when I got gobliins originally o...
