Re: Multiple TimerB handlers

Hint: if your handler start addresses are guaranteed to not cross a 64k boundary (and you can align the code buffer to a 64k page), there‘s no need to use a move.l to change the timer, just use move.w and 122.w.
_Then_ it‘s super fast :)

Re: The SECRET VIDEO MODE in an ST: 400 lines in COLOR (and with 72 Hz)!

Did you search the whole archive? The sources are not always in correct folder structure so there is a chance that some includes are scattered all over the place. I remember compiling something else from him and had to find the files this way. Sure, searched ofc that and also ggns whole repo. Did n...

Re: Different SHIFTER versions

Here's the previous IMP set in 8ns and with dl3, dl6 and two different lowrez "shiftedleft" cases added. Thanks once more again. But seems to me again that some of the traces might have the wrong resolution. This looks like low rez, and not med rez: C070713-002IMP_med_50hz_dl3.vcd Thanks ...

Re: Different SHIFTER versions

Regarding „banded“ and „shifted“ ... I suspected something like that. But the trace bandwidth (50 MHz) is a bit too low and then it's difficult to analyze unless you know beforehand what you are looking for. I'll do proper 8ns ones later, these effects are pretty easy to recreate on this IMP set, i...

Re: Different SHIFTER versions

You‘re welcome :) I‘ll add those traces to the big packgage including PNGs asap. Regarding „banded“ and „shifted“: „banded“ shows every 2nd column (16 pixel block)one column background color although it should show gfx data. In this case it might be a plane effect, have to check palette and plane da...

Re: Different SHIFTER versions

But something is odd with this new trace on low rez (any chance you mixed up and it is actually on med rez?). Can you make one or two more. Only with the full IMP chipset, only on LOW rez. If you can with two different powerup cycles. And please make sure that the screen is solid. That is, the star...

Re: The SECRET VIDEO MODE in an ST: 400 lines in COLOR (and with 72 Hz)!

For the record: this mode (1280x200x2@50Hz) works fine with an NEC1970NXp, centurion/ubeswitch tested. This even worked in the NewRez Desktop driver, but with the mono font, so it looked more like 1280x100, aka totally unsuable :/ Wait, what? Did you really use an ubeswitch with auto detection of m...

Thanks for the video tin. That's really interesting (and a bit of a shame). Re: Different SHIFTER versions

Potentially silly question, but what type of screen are you recording from? CRT or LCD? I can only speak for the video recordings: there was no screen involved, it's a (more or less) direct RGB capture. The capture card proved quite stable in the past (which will ofc change, now that I mentioned it...

I finally came around to fix my IMP board (I fried the Vsync diode somehow). So here's revision 2 of the LA capture package: http://absencehq.de/atari/shiftercaptures_r2_c025914-38_38A_c070713-002.zip Changes: -added traces for C070713-002 8833 low/mid 50Hz using a full IMP chipset board -fixed typo...

This is something I patched right after czietz revealed this: http://absencehq.de/atari/newrez_prealpha.zip I hoped to give it a thorough testing, but with the weather and all - it's your turn ;-) This is a patched version of (or rather horribly hacked version of the horribly hacked) Overscan 1.6, t...

Re: Different SHIFTER versions

Ah, ok, no problem at all. The only interesting thing remaining at this point might be to measure Shifter wakestates with the IMP Shifter. But this might be better done on the full IMP chipset system. So I won't bother you anymore for the time being :) You don't :) Well, since you mention wakestate...

I'm pretty sure it's a typo and the shifter is a C070713-002 model. I can't check atm -- but will do in a few days and fix the package accordingly. It was probably just too hot.

Same as ggn: a CT2 (CT2a iirc) equipped machine used to work fine but doesn‘t anymore. No signal in both modes. IIRC it had a limbo state where only the non accelerated mode worked. Just a quick status update. I don‘t have the traces yet (ah, the joys of getting sidetracked!) but I plan to bring the IMP board etc. to Nordlicht party and do traces there. There’s nothing like a quiet partyplace to do these things ;)
Monday there shall be traces.

Here's a first baseline test with the 38A shifter in a non-IMP environment (100Mhz sampling, beginning of a solid green desktop line): 38a_la.png Now that the Test Clip is set up, churning out more traces gets pretty easy and changing the shifter is a matter of seconds. Let me know if these traces a...

Wow. Thanks a lot for the videos, really very nice!
