Re: CT60e, Not measuring up.

2. A CT60e with commonly used PicoPSU does not fit in the RF Shield. From the top of the Falcon PCB to the RF shield is 49 mm on a good day. Now I know what you mean -- while being so naive that my CT60e/Falcon nightmare is caused by a weak PSU I ordered a stronger one (and sold the weaker one...)....

Re: ZX Spectrum reborn in a kickstarter

I have backed them, but mainly so my son can play with programming here in the USA as my 128K model is a pain to use on USA TV's. I agree the FPGA is to small though. It is one thing having the nostalgia of the original, but since they are including one, then make it capable of doing many machines i...

Re: 3D printed Falcon VGA adapter

Nice. I created a 3D design years ago that used a PCB and was actually a shell that would have been filled with resin to create a durable molded adapter. As time flies I forgot about it until seeing this one.

I just played numerous games and software without an issue or a crash. I also downloaded Begemed Falcon version again and still no FX sound though. Hmm

Re: Begemed broke my Falcon, maybe?

What happens when you turn it on? White screen? Black screen? Floppy activity? Other than power light and fan, Nothing at all. I think I know what it is. I had a 16MB Wiztronics RAM board installed (with Simm slot), and when i swapped it for the stock Atari 4MB board it started working fine again. ...

Begemed broke my Falcon, maybe?

Today I was playing the demo of Begemed on my Falcon and for a short while it seemed strange as the FX sound in the demo did not work, but the music and game play was fine. (I was wondering if the game had a button to toggle FX on and off.) Then all of a sudden the game crashed in the middle of the ...

Re: CT60e, Not measuring up.

With point 1, I noticed the same thing. I haven't fully pressed down the bottom connector because like you said, it would warp the PCB. Mine is half in, which still works perfectly. I doubt it would cause any performance issue. But you're right I think the design should have taken that into account...

Re: PicoPSU: is it really enough for the CT60?

I didn't make those numbers up. ;-) If Czuba, the CT60 creator, says it needs 8 amps, I certainly dont have a reason not to believe him. Same for the PSU manufacturer. Well you could always just get a watt meter and plug it into the wall and see what it pulls. I already know what the Falcon general...

Re: PicoPSU: is it really enough for the CT60?

I'm not an expert but I'd say if the manufacturer explicitly says that with this PSU you can have this many amps at this voltage and that many amps at that voltage, it doesn't really matter whether the overall power consumption falls within the limit. Well Motorola specs list the 68060 at 5 watts m...

Re: PicoPSU: is it really enough for the CT60?

The Falcon with CT60e consumes less than 40 watts. It does not need a large Pico as many are using. Yes, 3.3 * 8 = 26.4W for CT60. But I'm talking about the load which the PSU should handle. And if it says that it cannot handle more than 6A at given voltage then you're ignoring its specification an...

CT60e, Not measuring up.

First of all I want to say I love my Falcon and the CT60e concept, but unfortunately I have measured some issues with the CT60e while working on my internal PSU design. 1. Note the connectors on the Falcon and CT60e are not level (From top of Falcon PCB to the bottom of CT60 PCB). For instance the l...

Re: New Internal Falcon PSU Mount for CT60, CT60e, CT63...

Well I think this is the final design for the Power / Switch mount. It keeps compatibility with a stock Falcon Switch and Socket, but I changed support from a C8 polarized socket to a 3 pin C6. This is still a compact connector, but it includes ground and will prevent a wrong power cable from being ...

Re: New Internal Falcon PSU Mount for CT60, CT60e, CT63...

This looks really nice. Just wondering -- how to you plan to solve the 030/060 switch? Right now, the most comfortable solution is to use the hole for the original switch and put everything there (atx on/off, 030/060, pico psu power). Then the mains connector can be used to Svethlana ethernet and S...

Re: New Internal Falcon PSU Mount for CT60, CT60e, CT63...

Thanks to all those interested. Here is another quick update for the Power / Switch 3D model. I have now made it so the mount will take an original screw in socket, or a clip in one. I have also added supports for the back of the CT60e as it is normally flimsy. So with the help with a little tape or...

New Internal Falcon PSU for CT60, CT60e, CT63...

Hello everyone, Having received my CT60e, I decided I wanted to keep my Falcon with an internal Power Supply Unit. The internal fan is just a standard part which you can grab from any electronics shop. I use a Sunon with magnetic leviatation system, it is very silent. Thanks for the info.
