Re: HDDRIVER and DOS/Windows partitions

I recommend using this adapter:

https://www.delock.de/produkt/91662/mer ... anguage=en

delock.jpg

It has the same mounting holes as a 2,5 inch harddisk. So you can just mount everywhere, where you also can place a 2,5 inch hdd.

I did it that way:

Re: Ataribox

Their problem was that they gave the developemt of the hardware to a company which has not much experience and staff to do that. They should have asked to Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, Foxconn, Pegaus and so. That's their daily business. You give then the specs you want, you gurantee them that you take a hun...

Re: HDDRIVER and DOS/Windows partitions

What also could make the difference is the length of the IDE cable. The Falcon is not that sensible as my Amiga 1200, where about 5 cm is just enough, but don't make it longer than about 25-30 cm. That might change a lot. If you need longer, convert to SATA.

Re: HDDRIVER and DOS/Windows partitions

The topic of 'reliable" CF has been beaten to dead here. From my own research, I found that there are basically 2 types of CF - commercial and industrial. Mostly from the retail shop you get commercial type. You need find a bit harder for industrial type. I have different experience. I now hav...

Re: HDDRIVER and DOS/Windows partitions

actually due to barrel shifter, byteswap (ROL.W #8,D0) on 68030 and newer is almost for free . Just measured on my TT with HDDRIVER and XFERRATE: With SW byte-swap: 1850 kByte/s. With HW byte-swap done by Thunder interface: 4680 kByte/s! Let's conclude that we designed Smartswap for a reason! Yeah,...

All ide to CF adapters are only mechanical converters, there is no electronics on it. That means, any of these adapters should work just fine.

Re: HDDRIVER and DOS/Windows partitions

I didn't say booting from a byte-swapped IDE HD was not possible. ppera's driver is the obvious proof that it is possible. I just said that HDDRIVER is not capable of doing that. So you have two options: a) Convince Uwe Seimet (author of HDDRIVER) to develop a way to boot from a byte-swapped medium...

Nice to see you finally here talk about Vampire. When I did that 3 years ago here, after Apollo team requested support from Atari community to get support to get that baby running in an ST, many here called me more or less an idiot. So now here an idiots opinion and comments: ST/STE demos rely often...

Hi, so far I was using Petari harddisk driver: https://atari.8bitchip.info/pphdr.php It is superb! After all what I have read, I don't think so. Re: Are Atari Laser printers useful today?

A more interesting question is if they are usable today. Can you get toners? That's a good point. You might get toner. You might be able to take different toner and refill the toner box. There is for example from Xerox toner which comes in bottles for refilling. But it's a dirty task and a standard...

Xou can make Falcon's compatible audio Xbios functions to support AMiga's Paula soundchip. That would be usefull for Vampire-user.

Confirmed, when removing Bigdos, also these 2 Falcons show GEMDOS 0.30. Funny, because that BIGDOS is a special version which runs even stable on CT60.

Is it GEM or GEMDOS 0.20 vs. 0.30?

If it is GEMDOS, I have an idea... Because BIGDOS is loaded on these two machines. But BIGDOS would not modify the Desktop copyright year...?

But I will not be able to check again (without BIGDOS) until saturday.

Different behaviour of Falcon with emty NVRAM battery?

Hello, I have three Falcons. #3 is new in my posession, it hasen't been used for about 20 years. So NVRAM is empty. Strange thing is that it has TOS 4.04 with copyright 1993 and GEM 0.30 while the other two have TOS 4.04 with GEM 0.20 (see other thread). Also for Falcon #1 and #2 the NVRAM battery (...

Hello, I got a 3rd Falcon recently (for free). This one is a bit strange. Here is comparison Falcon #1 versus #3. tos404_1.jpg tos404_2.jpg What is that? Never seen before. I also checked my Falcon #2, it's the same TOS 3.03 as #1. #2 I have upgraded from TOS 4.01 to 4.04 last year with chip from Ex...
