Re: Megafile 30 / 60 - what does J4 do?

The only difference between SH 205, Megafile 2o on the one side, and Megafile 30/60 on the other side is just one chip which does the drive data encoding, on the SH205/MF20 it is a MFM chip, in MF 30/60 it is the RLL chip. Also firmware is different, related to the different number of sectors on MFM...

Just buy a CosmosEx, if you can. Under others, it does that.

Re: ct60 with a pico psu - startup problematic

I have ct60e as well and I can't power up in 060 mode. In 030 mode no problem, then switch to 060 and reset. So same behaviour as yours and with original ct60.

Re: ct60 with a pico psu - startup problematic

But the reset button also works in 060 mode. So the mainboard reset signal must be a trigger to the 060 reset, at least if there is no direct connection.

Re: I just bought an Atari Mega ST4 with hard drive in it!

Supra made aluminium frames which could fit directly in Mega ST. The aluminium frame was made to support a special SCSI hostadapter also made by Supra and a standard 3,5 inch SCSI drive. The hostadapter was also made by Supra and connected to the Mega ST internal DMA pin header through a flat cable,...

Re: ct60 with a pico psu - startup problematic

ATX PSU specification says that Power Good signal has to switch from 0V to 5V not sooner as 100 ms after voltage is stable. To me this sounds as it is a good idea to connect the Power Good signal directly to the reset button or the reset signal. Does it make sense to try that?

Re: ct60 with a pico psu - startup problematic

This is interesting observation, so it depends on power supply. What is the yellow and cyan signal on these diagrams, 5V and 3.3V? I think in 030 mode, the 3,3V power does not care much, but it is used to power the 060 CPU. Can we also see Falcon's reset signal and "Power Good" Signal of t...

Re: ct60 with a pico psu - startup problematic

Hi hencox, Hi 1st1, Thank you. It seems to be that it is 3.3v related, so it must be on the ct60 side. I think this is exactly the problem. That capacitor and reset circuit controls the reset signal for mainboard and ct60 CPU. If the CPU starts too early, while power supply is not stable, startup o...

Re: ct60 with a pico psu - startup problematic

There is a tipp from Chips'b'Chips which can help. Replace C7 capacitor on Falcon mainboard by 10uF, This one delays the reset logic a bit, until the power supply is more stable.

Re: Matrix Coco VME Video Card Problem

My CoCo is just working fine in my TT at 800x600@256 colors with a NEC Multisync TFT 1990nxp. NVDI5 is also active. But that TT has no Lignung-VME USB card, there is hardware adress conflict with CoCo.

Re: Exist any Intel x86 port of Atari TOS?

You can download the direct GEM port for MS-DOS from the Free-GEM websites. But it will not be able to execute 68K GEM software. PC basded GEM was also used to backport open source EmuTOS back to ST. That's because DRI has put PC version of GEM to open source status before it's doors vorever... http...

Re: Exist any Intel x86 port of Atari TOS?

That was quite interesting reading. It seems that if digital research had won the lawsuit vs apple we may have been using Gem instead of Windows today. There was no lawsuit between Apple and Atari. Steve Jobs started his career as ATARI engineer, and he was too afraid to try to battle with Jack Tra...

Re: Exist any Intel x86 port of Atari TOS?

TOS was unique to Atari, but its user interface, GEM, did exist in a PC version (actually Atari have ported it from PC). TOS is a mix of CP/M and DOS. Initially Atari wanted to use GEM on CP/M 68k. Wrong... Right... Not really. Just compare numbers of function calls in GEMDOS, BIOS, XBIOS with MS-D...

Re: Archeology: The TOS before version 1.00

All of the early 260 ST, 520 ST and 520 ST+ were shipped to customers with boot ROM only and that early TOS on diskette. My uncle used to have such an early 520 ST+, and some weeks later he drove again to his ATARI dealer and got the ROMs swapped for free. The reason was, that the final TOS 1.00 sti...

You can't brick the IDE-CF-Adapter as it is just a mechanical conversion, connector to connector. Usually there is no logics/electronics on it. You might bricked the CF only.

Good luck!

Re: ExtenDOS 4 now available for free download

CD/DVD drives get less important for Ataris since CosomosEx and Lightning as they provide access to larger medias or even server shares where ISO images and physical CD/DVD medias can be extracted, but anyhow this is a great move. Thanks a lot!

Midi Maze II profits a lot of faster STs. It makes much more fun if there is no 8 Mhz machine in the ring.
