Re: Patch to fix files with double dots when converting with atari-convert-dir.py

Hi Eero, thanks for feedback and code review. Use-case 2: Some Atari disks contain "invalid" TOS filename characters, potentially as some kind of primitive copy protection method. It should still be possible to extract such files from a zip and create a correctly working floppy disk image ...

Patch to fix files with double dots when converting with atari-convert-dir.py

Hi I use atari-convert-dir.py to prepare files in batch for my SD card running on realhardware. I noticed atari-convert-dir.py leaves files with more than one dot in the filename intact, generating FAT clipped names ( the GEMDOS hd emul will replace the extra dots with a '+' for instance ) I propose...

Re: New Joysticks / Joypads for Atari ST ?

Vincent Riviere ( atari gcc cross compile fame ) made a whole video in French on the topic of using Sega Master System pads on Atari ST ( in French at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qPgUdfkhc0I) The pads work all fine, but because of a quirk in desing, a pad plugged in the mouse/joystick port, when...

New Joysticks / Joypads for Atari ST ?

Hi, Anybody got a link on where to find new joysticks or joypads for the Atari ST ? I have found for instance https://www.amiga-shop.net/Amiga-Hardware/Amiga-Eingabegeraete/Competition-PRO-Retro-Joystick::694.html but I am rather interested by joypads, as the games I play at the moment (for ex. Silm...

Re: Atari Partition table support added to GNU parted (Unix/Linux partition tool)

Hi Jean
it looks what you is a partition image, not the whole disk image.

-> FAT16 file system (hints score 3 of 5)

try to mount it with
mount -o loop easymint_c.img /mnt

Re: Atari Partition table support added to GNU parted (Unix/Linux partition tool)

Great, if you follow the tutorial at http://meta.libera.cc/2018/07/inspectin ... image.html, you should be able to read the content of your partitions.

Re: Atari Partition table support added to GNU parted (Unix/Linux partition tool)

I guest the problem is not the FS on the partitions, but the detection of the partitition table. What is the output of the following command, where /dev/sdX is the block device pointing to your disk disktype /dev/sdX does a partition table is recognized here ? example on a disk with Minix installed:...

I tested myself with a hard disk partitioned with the Atari Hard Disk tools, and it worked.
Maybe your disk was partitioned with a non standard tool ?

Re: Vertical white stripes when using a ST to VGA cable

So I replugged ROMs and keyboard IC in their socket. I had a look at the PSU at the capacitors look quite new, isn't that old capacitors have a curved top when they get old ? Since this STE is second hand, I wonder if the previous owner changed the capacitors already Picture of the PSU https://imgur...

Re: Vertical white stripes when using a ST to VGA cable

@Smonsom: I counted 20 of those line in middle and low res, which would then bring to a perfect 16 pixels distance (320 / 20 ) Which calculation did you use to come to the 16 pixels ? Curious here, but I am bit of a noob in electronics. The machine in question is a STE. I changed the TOS roms one ye...

Vertical white stripes when using a ST to VGA cable

I bought a ST to VGA adapter so I could play low-res games on a flat display, but no matter the resolution, low, mid or high, I have annoying vertical white stripes which kind of denature the gaming experience. This is the picture I get when using Xenon II in low res, and Uniterm im High Res. https:...

Re: Atari Partition table support added to GNU parted (Unix/Linux partition tool)

As far I know using mtools you can only inspect floppy disk images, not paritioned devices. Sure you can, look at /etc/mtools.conf: # First SCSI hard disk partition drive c: file="/dev/sda1" If all else fails, and you know where the partition starts, you can always create a loop device wi...

Atari Partition table support added to GNU parted (Unix/Linux partition tool)

While browsing some random debian stuff, I noticed that libparted and the associated parted tools have Atari Partition table support added two years ago: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=239816#246 This means it is quite easy to access hard disk images, as you can display the partit...

Thanks for the update concerning the falcon.
I have in the works a version with a recent kernel and ext2 fs but it is *slow* ( as expected)
Are there any FreeMint developpers here, or they're all on https://sourceforge.net/p/freemint/mail ... t-discuss/ ?
