Re: The Atari MC68000 Tutorials

Am I on track here? :) Hello Kriegor, yes. ;) You have learned the hard way why it is sometimes really awkward to use assembly code between different assemblers. However, albeit some assemblers allow to have "ds.x" within the data section it seems that "section dss" is indeed a ...

Re: The Atari MC68000 Tutorials

Just stumbled upon these tutorials after about a year of not giving my ST some data love, and wow! Thought I'd never be interested in programming (never been) but ASM on the ST is really fun, in a strange learning-how-computers-really-work way :) And of course, the lot of it owes to the great way th...

Re: The Obligatory 'Introduce Yourself Thread'...

Hello Atari people :) I'm a guy of the PC generation, born around 1990 and living in Sweden. I've been playing around with trackers (XM/IT) for 6 years or so, playing more acoustic instruments for about 10 years, and had a peek into the whole demoscene thing. A friend happened to put his MegaST2+Meg...

Re: ST's and Hard Drives

More to the point - (and correct me if I'm wrong) but is it even possible to get an UltraSatan anymore? Indeed, is there an off the shelf HD solution anywhere that can be purchased (rather than diy built) for STs? Rgds squidbass There's the original Atari SH204 (20MB) and the Megafile (20/30/60MB) ...

Re: Please Help! Atari ST as MIDI Instrument

Just to add, a lot of people are missing blastermaster84's point here! It's in the title with all due respect 'Atari ST as a MIDI instrument', not running a sequencer as the Master in a MIDI set up, but as an instrument using the Atari ST's YM2149. Personally I have no need for this, as I use my ST...

Re: Mega 4 floppy trouble

One quick and simple thing to try before trying anything else (if you haven't already) would be to open up the machine, remove all the socketed chips and put them back. Do this very very carefully using a small flat screwdriver and nudge them out mm by mm, alternating sides for every nudge and alway...

Re: Early Mega PSU getting real hot

If there are no other problems or symptoms (like discolouration of the PCB near the hot items), I would suggest that the PSU is operating normally. Mark However some dark yellow/brown-ish residue on heatsink solders seems to be nothing to worry about, it's just flux residue from soldering as flux i...

Re: Best atari computer for midi / cubase?

Yes I've tried Cubase with the Blitter on and off and see no difference in performance. Regarding the ST2 I just got, yes it is quite noisy. Any idea if I can just disable the fan? Is it just a power connector that I can pull off the motherboard? Can't imagine the heat being much different from an ...

Re: Atari MEGA ST2 and SC1224 errors! [Updated]

Still running the ST on the PC PSU through molex and it's working fine :) I managed to find a clue on the monitor issue, when i go into the config menu of maxYMiser (music tracker) and set the "VB Freq" from low to high, the very same thing happens as when booting up to TOS with the monito...

Re: WTB Mega ST4 power supply (or repair service)

Well, I tried the 520 power supply, transplanting the circuit board into the Mega's power supply chassis (they do fit, the PCB and holes are exactly the same dimensions / positions). It didn't work, just made a high pitched whine and the Mega didn't power up. There are some differences between the ...

Re: How do I get an audio only signal from my STFM?

If you know how to be safe around high voltage stuff you could just open your monitor and break out the signal that goes to the internal speaker, it's a simple detatchable 2-pin connector (at least on the SC1224). I made a simple audio-out jack on my monitor that way: http://oi39.tinypic.com/5vt7yp....

Re: WTB Mega ST4 power supply (or repair service)

The labels at the underside of my Atari Mega ST2 and Atari Mega ST4 (NT) says: 220-240 volt 50Hz 0.5A And 120 Watt <-- I can't imagine that 50 Watt PSU will be enough... I thought a PSU of an SH205 could do it but that only delivers a modest 32 Watt The label on the underside of my Mega ST2 also sa...

Re: WTB Mega ST4 power supply (or repair service)

I believe that a stock ST PS is rated at 35W (the later ones at 50W), and Mega ST is rated at 90W. Assuming that continuous load would be much less than that, and the age of the PS, I'd be afraid, very afraid... My Mega ST2 has got a 50W PSU and i am pretty sure that the Mega ST4 has got the same o...

Re: Atari MEGA ST2 and SC1224 errors! [Updated]

The PC PSU still seemingly works fine :) No crazy errors like the first videos (yet). Even soldered up a internal power cable and made a neat molex connector in place of the original PSU. Put another 12V fan of the same size where the original was too (so i have the whole original PSU with the solde...

Re: Light Mod's

The ST PSU delivers +12 and +5V DC, so you could just get an inverter like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Tiny-Water-Resistant-12V-Driver-Inverter-5m-EL-Wire-200-squ-cm-EL-Tape-/160781537135?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item256f538f6f and hook it up to the 12V rail i guess. EL wire...
