Re: Dead F030 count

I bought a dead Falcon for $50. Fixed a broken trace and Voila. That doesn't really count though. :-) And yup, CT2 still running with 128MB and a 20gig Seagate HDD.

Most modern tellys don't support analogue RF anymore. Does yours have composite or svideo/svhs inputs?

Re: CT2B Flash 1.41 English

Aha, that explains my RAM problem. I couldn't really understand the response I got from Rudolph when I was playing with firmware. I have a 64mb and a 128mb module. The 64 would detect as 32 on FW greater than 1.32 and I asked him why. He said that up to 1.32 was the best one. Which I though that was...

Re: How to access Wizztronics 256 ram - SIOtoPC via USB+ RespeQT/AspeQt

That is a huge question. :D Lots. It comes down to what games or programs support it. There are probably many, I couldn't tell you what they are. I have only just dug my Superam 800XL out and TBH, I just use a stock 130XE for the most part. I'm not sure if there is a general list of programs and DOS...

Re: How to access Wizztronics 256 ram - SIOtoPC via USB+ RespeQT/AspeQt

If the wizztronics ram isn't 130XE compatible, you might not be able to. Bank switching on different machines and upgrades can differ. I have a Superram upgrade in my 800XL and it isn't 130XE compatible. It is application dependent. If the game knows about your particular type of ram upgrade, it wil...

Re: Recommended accelerator options for ST

There are 020 accelerators that kick around, but they aren't that common. 030's accelerators are rarer than rocking horse doo doo. I'm not sure why Exxos managed to get more out of the STe, there are a few threads on the subject and he has a forum on his website that explains it. I think he is worki...

Re: Recommended accelerator options for ST

Exxos makes accelerators for the machines you have. https://www.exxoshost.co.uk/atari/last/storenew/ Next step would be to to use ppera's hard drive adapted games, this will sort compatibility out. http://atari.8bitchip.info/fromhd2.php Running stock/original games may be an issue as not all are wri...

Re: faulty video output stfm

G'day, video shifters should be the same across the board. Check the CO number. My first thought would be PSU. I have been working on two mega's doing the same thing. Turned out the PSU was failing. Recap might fix it.

Re: Red Screen (of death)

Back when I was working retail I gutted a ton of VGA cards and the like for PC's, cache RAM all that stuff. Luckily I have enough to replace all in this one. I tried the piggy back, no luck. Either Freddie is shot or more than one RAM chip. My money is on RAM being the biggest red screen contributor.

Re: Red Screen (of death)

I am working on a 130xe with the same fault now. I have socketed everything bar the RAM and freddie so far. I plan to get a syscheck cart from atariage rather than desolder all the ram and guess. The syscheck cart looks like a good option as long as you have the external bus. Not all 64k xe's do.

Competition to ZIP drives etc, etc. From what I remember they were supposed to be pretty fast, comparatively. It should work like any other SCSI removable disk medium.

Re: Atari Mega ST 4 disk or boot problem

Megas use a higher rated PSU than an ST, external PSU's use their own supply, unless you run it off the keyboard. So my bet would be PSU. The 4700 cap is easily replaced and worth doing too.

Re: 520 STM - video

Good to know I'm on the right track. :-) I buzzed out the RAM on me Mega4 and all good, so it looks like a case of faulty chip. Mega4 has 32 1mbx1. This might take a while. I tried piggybacking too. I'm half tempted to get a marpet board and disable the onboard RAM. I have to go get spares today to ...

Re: 520 STM - video

From the looks of it, RAM. I have progressed to a black screen with white boarders toying with it. Unfortunately, with a Mega 4 that is a ton of RAM. What board revision are you running?
