Re: Processor comparisons

And if you look at wikipedia:

"Cubase Audio XT 3.0 1996. - Recording multiple tracks at once was possible".

so only (?) XT version was capable of multitrack recording?

Why you simple do not ignore someone when you disagree with him? If you see that he will not change his mind or opinion, just move on... Why "teraš mak na konac"? :D Yes, that's why most of people do usually. But my state is that ignorance is not why we have forums. Forums are to exchange...

Re: The game is on (can we make MiNT/TOS this pretty?)

Ztask is stopped, Zorro stop Atari development :-( Did Zorro give source codes (Zbench, Ztask, Zview, Zdesktop...) to someone? If not, is there a chance that he will return to Atari development? So Zbench and Kronos are completely separate applications? :) I guess that they are similar visually as ...

All IBM done is taking CP/M and continue that path: IBM had idea that he will be only producer of these computers but CP/M philosophy of running on many different machines surfaced again and IBM lose to Compaq and all other far-east computer manufactures. from Lew Eggebrecht interview (http://www.am...

The new version is not yet available because I work now on new desktop and I found a crazy bug in MyAES, but should be fixed soon. hi Olivier, you work on new desktop? Something like Z-Desk? MyAES work perfectly normal with software that I use. btw regarding Atari AES: who add new functions...

OK, I will stop here with this. Really no point for continuing this discussion, when you write some illogical things, and some claims, which contradict to known ones: Gary Kildal, DR, did not design computer. I was talking about computer architecture, design, concept. IBM refused to buy CP/M from h...

Re: Processor comparisons

You can not like IBM and Microsoft, but they made something what market actually missed in those times: architecture and OS, what is future proof. Unlike others did - every new model was incompatible with older ones from same house. IBM showed the right direction, Just small correction: IBM did not...

Re: Processor comparisons

Your writing suggested that 8088 was compatible with 8080 - for which was CP/M written originally, and with which Z80 is compatible. But 8088 is not compatible with 8080. Only more similar than 68000 - since same, Intel made both. I think that you overestimating CP/M - it may be first serious OS, f...

Re: Processor comparisons

8088 was chosen because of CP/M. CP/M was only proven "OS" for microcomputers back then. Right? Even Apple II need Z80 board to be able to run CP/M software... AutoCad was writen for CP/M in 1981. I think. I don't think that it is some big problem to port CP/M to any CPU. And you are wron...

I kind of always thought during the 8088 days that the reason the 68000 wasn't chosen instead was that it was very expensive. 8088 was chosen because of CP/M. CP/M was only proven "OS" for microcomputers back then. Right? Even Apple II need Z80 board to be able to run CP/M software... Aut...

axa. So it would not be like current 16bit chunk mode on Falcon (without pallet (CLUT))
but rather one byte per pixel that show to pallet index :)

So there is only software side of this? There is no trace of this 8bit chunk mode in current Videl?

I think that it is nice to see Amiga OS on pair with todays desktops: it does not matter if you like Gnome or not; but it is still nice that Amiga can do this.

I was astonished by transparency and antialiasing fonts with MyAES!

Even on a P150, Cubase VST a turtle beach sound card and win95 audio was lagging compared to Falcon. How come on a 386 ? Yea, lot of time need to pass to PC gain "sorcerery" of recording audio tracks. I think only Pentium with Turtle Beach start to work "ok" (not sure what versi...

Re: Undocumented F030 hardware addresses...

No. It was just something I dreamed of. Would have been a perfect video mode for the Falcon though. It's too slow for the 16bit Truecolor mode. I can imagine how crazy and funky it would look like: Atari ST have 512 color palete and Atari Falcon 8bit (256) chunky mode could display every second col...
