Re: Apple G5 Powermac Atari

It is like when Apple switched from IBM to Intel nothing worked and everything had to be rewriten evenually. Erm, no. There was an emulator included in the operating system. It happened twice, btw: m68k -> PPC and PPC -> Intel. In both cases the transition was made via an emulator. So I'm asking wh...

Re: Sell the last 5 CTPCI

I agree, CTPCI definitely has its potential but its usefulness is way more connected to software support (read: people willing to write drivers) than, say, SuperVidel (which is usable basically out of the box with a few patches to NVDI).

Re: Sell the last 5 CTPCI

Just a bit of advice, don't sell it all to one person (we all remember what happened to the Falcons you'd sold in one batch -- that person just put them on eBay for 10x higher price...).

Re: Apple G5 Powermac Atari

And what would you run there, Simie? No software would run without an emulator. In that case it makes sense to run the emulator natively. ;-)

Definitely the first GTA would be doable on the CT60, maybe even 030 with some compromises.

Re: Apple G5 Powermac Atari

I know that the Amiga has a version of its OS running natively on Apple gear. If you are referring to MorphOS that's because it's a PPC-targeted OS. AFAIK support for the true AmigaOS 4.x (another PPC OS, by the way) is just a hack, works only on specific Mac models and IIRC in version 4.0 only. Fr...

Re: ST emulators on Milan

Well, obviously Hatari will :-) But awfully slow. I have been thinking for years to accept the challenge to use m68k native features and emulate "only" the rest but it has many quirks which may make the task impossible. Plus there's the question of feasibility of such plan (target audience...

Public plea for help: if anyone can mention my name to him (Miro Kropacek) and ask him whether he can check his mailbox, I would owe you one. Getting a reply like "Yeah, I hate him" is totally OK :), I just want to be sure it's not a technical issue.

Re: CT60, updating ABE and/or SDR, JTAG device error !

The JTAG device is the same as this, "Other way : make the cable yourself", document describes. I think this must be the culprit then. The only difference to your steps I had done in the past is that I'd bought a new one and just connected the pins. Maybe the schematics is wrong, maybe yo...

I think the chunky modes should be without the bit set as well.

By the way, while are you at it, why not add the extended video resolutions as well? I documented it a while ago here: https://github.com/freemint/mintlib/blo ... con.h#L173

Re: Underscore character

Apart from the custom mapping, there's far more easier method (at least it works for me every time I see something else printed): change "Keyboard mapping" from "Symbol" to "Scancode" in the Keyboard menu. That way I always get the symbol I want.

Too bad I didn't know about you earlier! I lived in Brisbane for nearly two years. Maybe you'd be interested to visit our Atari meetups: viewtopic.php?f=28&t=30705 ? IIRC, the next one should be in February.

As I said, anyone willing to clean this mess is more than welcome. I just made sure the website links are all working. OK, I had a spare moment so I have fixed it all for good. I have also added fallback links (CT60 -> ct60 etc) so now it should really work no matter what your original URL was. The...

Re: Rodolphe Czuba's websites mirrored & fixed

Yeah, an unfortunate side effect of Windows hosting -- on disk it's "CT60" but the original link was "ct60" (which is cached by Google). I fixed a lot of them but cached results persist. :-/ As I said, anyone willing to clean this mess is more than welcome. I just made sure the w...

Thanks Peter for your input! Actually it was me who started making accusations of Patrice's SDL :-P. We have been testing some video setups on my SuperVidel and I was getting just blank screens without anything, we couldn't figure out what's wrong for weeks.

Re: STE horizontal hardware scroll

A fun fact: Atari800's Display List do this "natively", you can really specify each line with its own address. When I switched to ST/Falcon I was shocked that the "better" Atari lacks this feature completely! (I learned only much later that the ST is definitely not a better compu...

Re: Happy new Year 2018

It probably has to do with a crap ton of work being put into a project, then when it's done and sold, the person just takes a massive break from the scene for awhile, until the 'itch' returns! From my own experience: coding (or anything serious which requires a lot of brain activity and focus) must...

Re: Rodolphe Czuba's websites mirrored & fixed

But I do not see the RTL8139 source files. Well, this is about restoring Rodolphe's stuff, not Didier's. That's a whole new thing and much less probable to fix in the future (as Didier is gone, reluctance with releasing anything FireTOS related persists etc). But since you asked, my RTL8139...

BTW, Rodolphe was so impressed with my work that he gave me login to his FTP and promised to redirect powerphenix.com to github and update the files from there. :D That means that we will eventually get the missing files as well I just have troubles to access his FTP (perhaps wrong credentials). AF for 8-bits

To be honest, I don't know why we're having this section here at all. For the same reason AtariAge have an ST/Falcon section... Fair enough. :) But I think time has shown that while AA ST/Falcon section is something like US oriented part of AF, it doesn't work the other way around, many 8-bit posts...
